http://img20.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tru5o251hz.jpg

Immense gratitude to Shrike4242 for updating this thing while I was away!!!

This is an odd one.....

Basically the gist is that Toys R Us is reducing its inventory by 20% by marking down over 6,000 skns from it's inventory, most of which are toys. There are however roughly 300 or so video games/accesories that will be a part of this clearance. As of 7/11 all have been marked down from 30-50%. TRU is seeking to aggressively move these skns out of its stores. So if these games have not sold in roughly a months time they will be marked down again...a month later, again.....and so on until it's gone. So if you're the gamblin' type I suppose you could hold out for cheaper prices. Prices seem to be good everywhere, though there may be some variance in prices between stores.

Everything that is a part of this sale is on a 3 week cycle, meaning that every three weeks any items remaining in the stores will receive another price drop. Seeing as how these prices went into effect on the 11th of July we should be seeing them all drop again on the 1st of August.

The only caveat here being that retail is an odd beast that can be subject to change. So basically there is another price drop coming that in all likelihood will happen on the 1st so check back on the than to see what's up.

*****CONDENSED VERSION FOR THOSE OF US THAT ARE NOT SO GOOD WITH THE READING*****

a.) TRU marked down a shiton of inventory.

b.) Inventory will continue to be marked down if they do not sell.

c.) Prices may vary between store.
Do you know if Fire Emblem GC, Meteos, DQ8, or Suikoden Tactics dropped anymore?
I think I saw that DQ8 was around $13 at my TRU.
It is fairly painless. You can return/re-buy at the same time and you only need the receipt - so you can leave the game at home for a no risk transaction.
Do you happen to know if you can do this at a different TRU than where you bought the game? Or do you need to go to the same store that you bought it at?
but before that, I think we need to create a new thread, as this July thread is already outdated. we need a something for Sept. now.
Agreed, maybe you should pm shrike and see about going ahead with that ;)

Well... before it moves, I'll post my finds:

Dragon Quest VIII: $13.98
Castlevania Double Pack: still $19.99
Fire Emblem PoR: $14.98 (that's what the markdown lady told me as I was looking for it.. she said it was sold out though.. so I'm outta luck. I'm guessing YMMV).
Tecmo AC Xbox: $6.98
Gamecube 16MB Action Replay? memory card: $9.98
Xbox Wireless AV Selector: $5.98 (picked this up for the spare bedroom with old systems in it).
Godzilla Xbox (second one, can't remember the rest of the title): $9.98
Craig Shower Radio: $9.98
Transformers Remake, Ricochet: $13.98

And now for the shocker, as I haven't seen it mentioned in the thread...

Creative Zen 6GB MP3 player: $104.99
Creative Zen 512MB: $69.99

I got the Zen for the heck of it... figured it'd be a decent price without going the Ebay route although I've been trying to get an IRiver.

Didn't have much on me, but I picked up the Xbox Wireless AV selector for $5.48. Well worth the price and 100x better than the manual AV selector I had been using. Too bad it makes the Xbox look the size a fricking office building now.

Dublin, CA TRU has very few markdowns. Only about 5 games were marked further down (only one worth mentioning was Psychonauts for Xbox)

Hayward, CA TRU has some markdowns, but also very few. However, if you're still looking for DK Bongos for $15, they have about 20 of them.

My attempt to price adjust failed...the CSR lackey looked confused when I asked to "return and rebuy" and went to grab his boss(?). She said I couldn't do it because the items were clearance, and I needed to have an ad that showed the prices (??). I don't think she grasped what I was trying to do. The lackey even claimed the prices on my first items had "gone up," not realizing his boss keyed in something from the middle of the receipt. Needless to say, I don't think they were quite competent enough to understand or handle my request.

Next week I'm going to go in with the physical, sealed items and ask to return them, hopefully getting a new CSR as well. If they say they don't take returns on clearance, I'm going to ask them where that is stated in their return policy. Then I'm going to ask to rebuy them. If they want to refuse to resell them to me, I'm going to tell them to shaq-fu themselves.

As a side note, Fire Emblem GC rang up at 20.98 for me, not 14.98 like someone else. That may be YMMW.

A few updates:

Fire Emblem GC is 20.98 as kaminari2 said
Fire Emblem: SS - 14.98
Sprung - 6.98
Golden Nugget Casino (GBA) - 3.48
Texas Holdem Poker (GBA) - 3.48
Twisted Metal 4 (and presumably 3) - 3.48

Uh, another quick Price Adjustment question... Someone already said that all you need is the reciept, but then others seemed to have trouble even with the reciept. I just bought Pump it Up Exceed for PS2 for $17.30 (used the $5 off $25 coupon, even thopugh PIU was only $20.98 :D), and I wanna play it, but still wanna get the price adjusted because I know it'll go down in time. Is it safe to open it?

Thanks

I wrote that all you need is the receipt, and for me it has worked a few times. However, there is no guarantee that it will work. So if you want to be on the safe side you may want to hold off opening it if you are looking to price adjust later. But you used a coupon and if you price adjust later you will probably lose the value of the coupon. So if it goes down to $15 it sounds like you may only save a buck or two by adjusting later.

I didn't get one for that very reason. I do not have that much room for my Xbox.

On a side note I managed to pick up a FFXI with Hard Drive for under $30 with tax. :D

best i can figure all games over 9.98 dropped about 30 percent, i got
psychonauts
spartan total warior
oddworld all for 36.00 total

I bought Final Fantasy XI for $27.98 + tax, hoping to play around with the hard disk (I didn't have any interest in the game itself). But I didn't realize that you need the network adapter just to physically install it. Is anyone interested in buying it for what I paid + shipping?

i bought a GBA Video for my little cousin, it was marked 4.98 on clearance but when it scanned it was around 3.50. I paid 3.73 total.

Damn, I should have waited a few days.

Most of the stuff I bought last week was $15, and I haven't opened any of them, so I might just return them and buy them again if they have copies of the same games, as well as buy some games that were iffy at $15, but are good at $10.

$21 was the sweet spot for Fire Emblem for me. Scooped that up along with Trapt for the same price.

Donky Konga with drums was $27.98 at my local TRU. Maybe mislabeled...I didn't scan it.

Grabbed Dig Dug DS for $10.48. also saw DK Konga for $21, and DK Jungle Beat for $27, both w/bongos. Might wait for DKJB to drop more.

Also, they had Hello Kitty GC for $15. wasnt someone looking for that in here?

the TRU in Redwood City, CA (aka the TRU that time forgot) has a ton of the two bongo kits - one priced at $30 ish, the other at $14 ish. 8+ left of each.

Didn't really check the GC games, but chances are they have those too. Found a Halo 2 strategy guide, isn't that thing supposed to be pennied by now?

i was just there on my way back from SF.
controllers, cables, accessories, and bongos are on clearance.
the GC titles and other console titles are hardly dropped. can't see much price cut, compared to other locations.

but they got a dozen of Viewtiful Joe (GC) for $9.98, on the front of the register.

other than that, nothing worth picking up from that store.

These dropped recently and I haven't seen them posted yet:

Legend of Heroes (PSP) - $13.98
We Love Katamari (PS2) - $10.48

Someone had stated before that most of these new drops are 30% off the previous clearance price, and that does indeed look to be the case.
By controllers, do you mean 1st party Nintendo brand or Pelican crap?
the "Pelican crap" ones.

I called and the person told me they had Fire Emblem: PoR in stock, but I got there and found out they were talking about the dummy copies behind the counter. I wouldn't have been pissed if it didn't take me 25-30 minutes each way. Luckily I found a couple things.

Psychonauts - $10.48
A Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge - $10.48

I can confirmn these prices (Milwaukee, WI Toys R US Northridge Location)

PSP
Ultimate Block Party $10.98
Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix $13.98
Smart Bomb $13.98
Coded Arms $19.98
Tiger Woods Golf $13.98
Metal Gear Acid 2 $13.98
Medevil $13.98
Twisted Metal Head On $13.98
Spiderman 2 $13.98
Kingdom of Paradise $10.98

For some odd reason Metal Gear Acid was $29.98 while 2 is $13.98.

PS2
Final Fantasy with 40GB Hard Disk $27.98 (4+ in stock up above checkout counter)

GC
DK Bongos (Bongos Only, no game) $20.98 (6 in stock above checkout counter)
DK Bongos (Bongos Only, no game) $20.98 (6 in stock above checkout counter)
It comes with the original Donkey Konga.

I stopped by another location and noticed that they are giving the same upc code to the Sony PSP 1800 mah & 2200 mah battery. I bought a 2200 mah battery for $13.98. Also grabbed Tokobot for $10.98.

Kinda $uck ... mine local TRU didn't have Legend of Heroes. Also, Metal Gear Acid 2 still $40-ish :(

At least i scored Far Cry: Evolution (XBOX) $10.98 and Medievil (PSP) $13.98 for $26.XX after - $5 off coupon = $21.XX after taxes.
Why doesn't a mod update the original thread or start a new one? Some one make me a mod and I'll do it. :p
