Ahhhh..another terrible experience going to Toys R Us after the metrotown crap I had to go through today.

After my shift ended at 3:30, I started heading directly to the Broadway TRU from SFU.

Everything was smooth until I got to the commercial station. Now, I don't visit Vancouver often, but damn, there is just so many people (and some looked strange).

The commercial station was horribly set up, since it had no "Bus Loop", and the bus stops are basically scattered around the block. I had to walk all the way around to finally find the boarding stop for 009 bus.

When the POS bus came, it was friggin small (was a "short bus", with the left rows having only 1 seat, and the right rows having two), with 2x its capacity in people rushing into it.

Inside the bus, it was jam packed, with massive amount of people getting in and out every stop. I was also surrounded by annoying ass kids that shout and cry and wouldn't stfu, and when I finally got a seat, the dude next to me smelled like crap.

Anyways, so there I was, looking anxiously at the passing intersections to be prepared to pull on the "stop string". When I finally got to TRU, the store was not as big as I was expecting.

Sure, I admit, it had the largest variety of games of the three I went to (Coquitlam, Vancouver, Burnaby), but unfortunately, there wasn't any I was interested in.

THE WORST PART WAS: THEY DIDN'T HAVE SOUL CALIBUR II! :bomb: ..I went up to the cashier to ask her to check stock, and she said none of the TRU in Canada has the game available (wtf?).

So, disappointed and wasting an hr and 15-min of my time getting there, holding my fucking breath almost the entire bus trip, I ended up buying Super Monkey Ball 1 and Super Monkey Ball 2 for $20 total to justify the trip.

The only other game that interested me (that I didn't have) was Need For Speed: Underground 2. Other than that, basically the same games as the other ones I went to, but with 5x the stock of the TRU in Metrotown (worst. TRU. ever).
haha sorry to hear that buddy, i'm sure theres a copy of soul calibur II in there last time i checked, well i'll take a look see tm for you on my way home from work, but they could've been snatched up already we'll see, anyways i'm outs have a good one

By the way, just wondering, does anyone know if you can buy games from a TRU in one location, but return it for a refund in another?

Right now, I'm thinking about whether or not to refund Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2. Review for the game were good, but I'm not quite sure how fun it would be as a single-player game.

Anyone played these games before? What's your opinion on them?

No prob! :) Let me know if you see the game if you do happen to drop by TRU sometime this week.

It's not a big deal though, since Soul Calibur II should be $20 everywhere. So, it's only a $5 savings.

I regret not buying it at Best Buy for $15 when they had the $5-off any GC game offer a little while back.

Edit: so i went over to TRU today, SCII is completely gone, so is ToS, i think those were the only ones people were gunning for, next time tell me earlier and i can hide a few copies behind narnia or something ;)

TRU gives you 45 days to return games.

Super Monkey Ball is hella hard =P If you're still looking offline for Baten Kaitos, I remember seeing quite a few at Future Shop for $20. That's the Metrotown location.
TRU gives you 45 days to return games.
thanks for correcting me, haven't purchases anything from them in a while so i was working off of memory (mind you my memory is pretty bad)

I'm gunna try to find Baten Kaitos one of these days since I Was deprived from what would have been my toysrus video game shopping spree! And Super monkey ball ain't that hard don't worry :p, I beat it pretty fast and...it actually gets really easy once you get the hang of it. It's quite fun though, but was a bit too short for me and a little too easy they needed an extra difficult mode IMO but oh well.
Which location did you get that stuff in? If Metrotown, is the selection decent?
If you read my posts a page back, you can see my distaste for Metrotown.

When I went there, the only games that were Player's Choice were NFS: Underground 2, Spiderman 2, Simpsons Hit and Run, and some other crap games.

The one in Coquitlam has the best selection, with 3 copies of StarFox: Assault, 4 of Four Swords, 1 Luigi's Mansion, 4 Mario Golf, and lots of other good Player's Choice games like Pikmin 2, Paper Mario 2, Super Mario Sunshine, etc.

I actually thought about getting Need For Speed Underground 2 and Spiderman 2, but didn't want to spend any more money. At first I thought Spiderman 2 sucked, since most movie-based games suck, but after reading some reviews, it's actually decent.

ADD: I got Super Monkey Ball 1 + 2 at the Vancouver TRU, and the other 4 at the Coquitlam TRU.

The Vancouver has great selection as well, and definitely more copies of Star Fox Assault.

However, it's missing Tales of Symphonia. :nottalking:

Oh darn you can't get a gamecube PC and a PS2 GH? Hmm then I might get Star Fox assault and....I dunno maybe Soul Calibur 2 if its there. Dang I had all the PC games that I saw there...I got paper mario, I have most of the Gamecube titles I want to play already. There's only a few more I need to play yet and they are:

MP2
Chibi Robo
Star Fox Adventures
Soul Calibur 2
Star Fox assault

Then Beyond Good and Evil but I might get that for some othe rsystem... but ya those are the ones I want for GC yet...sadly I only saw Assault there.

Nope, must be two Player's Choice or two Greatest Hits. ;)

Same here, I have most of the Player's Choice games I want, so there's really not many games left I can choose from. I'm up to 48 games now...a few more then my collection is complete.

lol 48!? wow I have like 20 or so, but lots of games just don't interest me so I don't care....the one I want most right now is StarFox Adventures!!!! Hey if anyone picks up a new sealed starfox adventures for me for under 25-30 canadian I'll give you magical melody for only 10-15 dollars!

Tales of Symphonia was worth the $50 or whatever I spent on it two years ago. Definitely get it =) Can't wait for Tales of the Abyss!

My SuperStore sells StarFox Adventures for $29.99 + tax. It's the only retailer in my area that still has the game in stock.

If you're interested let me know and I can pick one up. ;)
Dang it's ok I bet I can find it for 30 bucks. I want to find it for 20 bucks though before I buy it :p
You can most likely find it for less than $30 on eBay.
You can most likely find it for less than $30 on eBay.
yea ramman should know, ever since i told him about it ;)eh?
Anyone tried the richmond store for starfox yet?
i didn't bother heading out of vancouver to check this deal out, but i can confirm that the broadway one has starfox assault
yea ramman should know, ever since i told him about it ;)eh?
Heh ya, I've bought around 30 games so far from eBay since I've started using it in July.

On a related note, I finally won a new + sealed copy of Beyond Good and Evil for GC earlier this morning! :applause: It was reasonably priced too, at $26 CDN (including shipping)!

Congrats =P Good game. I liked it. I got it off the CAG trading forum sealed for about $16 US though =) You should try the CAG Trading Forum as well as eBay. Good place to find stuff.

To the one who wants Star Fox Assault, the Metrotown location has a bunch of them.

Heh that's pretty good..I think it still retails at full price here. How is the game though? I tried the in-store demo and it confused the fuck out of me, but I didn't really get a chance to "play" it.

Wow nice! $16? That's a great price for a great game. I am more than happy paying $26 for it though, as the last sealed one that auctioned on eBay sold for like $60! (My max was around $30-33)

I could've saved myself $3 though, as the same guy sold another copy last night for $23. The auction was made around 11:00pm, and was sold with Buy-It-Now at around 12:30am (I found the auction at around 1:30am). Don't you just hate it when you miss those nice Buy-It-Now auctions? I remember missing one for a $30 Fire Emblem (new + sealed).

Ya, good idea on the CAG Trading Forums. I never used to visit that forum, but I think I will in the future.
