Was walking home today and saw this promotion...

Trade in your old Nintendo DS and get a New Nintedo DS Lite for $69.99
or
Trade in Your Gameboy Advance SP and get a New Nintendo DS lite for $99.99

With that in mind please read the following disclaimer:
1. I have searched for this "deal" and have not found it listed on these boards. If it has been listed I apologize to the extra sensitive people that will in fact point that out.
2. I realize that many might not find this to be much of a deal. But for people like myself that have an old-big-as-a-brick DS it might not seem so bad.

I was going to jump on this, but thanks for posting all the eBay prices. Mine is mint/complete so hopefully I can get some of that $99 BIN love.

You gotta be pretty lazy to go this route as opposed to just chucking the Phat on eBay. Comeon, GS, this isn't even a deal! Make it a $45 Lite with the trade in.

Thanks gobz! I'm now the proud owner of an Onyx DS lite.
I've never traded any systems into Gamestop/EB before... What all do I need to bring in with it?
The Gamestop employee that I talked to said that the DS has to have a serial number, ac adapter, and a stylus. I'm assuming that for this trade the DS has to be in working condition.
I want a DS lite, but have never tried the ebay thing, the whole postal system thing confuses me :p
Uh....
Isn't this going for $30+ on eBay?

For those with big hands...does this help with sore-knuckle-claw? It may be time for me to finally upgrade.
If you have big hands, the DSL is not for you. I have gigantic hands (I'm 6'3 and my hands reflect my size well) and hitting the shoulder buttons is a pain in the ass. As far as the buttons on the face of the system go they are fine, but wrapping my hands around the thing and trying to press those shoulder buttons can get annoying. My hands feel too scrunched when I have to use the shoulder buttons. Then again I like to hit them with the point of my finger rather than body of my finger if that makes any sense.

I played MK : DS on my friends fatty DS and despite the screen not being nearly as nice, my hand position felt so much more comfortable. The shoulder buttons felt like they were just right, no if only the d-pad and the face buttons on it were good.
Question: can you trade in a *broken* DS and get this deal? My nephew has a fat DS that doesn't charge properly (more correctly, you have to hold the cord in, and using a different cord doesn't help, so it's an internal problem. Can he trade that in and get a DS Lite for $69.99? Also, he has an old Advance SP - can he trade both in toward one DS Lite?

My Nintendo DS's top screen is totally broken, would I be able to trade that in without them noticing? Like, when I turn it on, about 40 percent of the pixels are dead. Also, could I put the store credit from my SP with this?
Think about what you guys are asking. Even if you don't care about defrauding Gamestop/EB, think about the poor sap who buys your broken DS. Sure, they could get a refund, but it would be a big hassle and potentially very disappointing for a little kid.

The kid is collateral damage in my neverending quest to royally screw EB/Gamestop.

I would've sold/traded-in but my g/f stepped on my phat. Even though she's tiny, the top screen cracked.

It was promptly replaced with a Lite at full price, and I was happy with the tradeoff. Recently sold the broken phat for parts for $30, so I'd say with the use I get out of the lite, I'm very happy.

This deal seem lukewarm compared to hawking it on the bay or other sites.

1. Raise your right hand
2. Move your right hand to the left
3. Back of the hand to the face
4. Rince and repeat as necessary

Just kidding
The L button on my current DS doesn't work, so I'll be trading mine in for the Lite.
baller

I will never understand how people manage to break the L buttons on the GBA SPs/DS'. You folks aren't supposed to smash the buttons. :p
Yep, my barcode was scrateched. I did this today- trade in my DS, Zelda for $43, Warioware: Touched for $14.40 and GTA: San Andreas (XBOX) for $8.80, paid $5 out of my pocket. Worth every penny! It is a HUGE imporvement over the old DS. The screen alone... WOW!!!
u can sell ur zelda to them for 43 bucks??

You have to ask yourself this question: "If someone came to you with that DS, would YOU take it?"

They'll just probably laugh at you and tell you no. Worst case scenario, tell you to have Nintendo fix it.

She cried. I'd say that's remorseful enough right there. I mean I was a little crushed, since I loved that thing, and she surprised me with it on Christmas, but material objects & small sums of money aren't worth getting that worked up over.

I mean it all worked out in the end.

How else would I have justified getting a lite to her? Not that I have to justify it, if I wanted it bad enough I'd just get it, but those of you in long term relationship know that any time you do something with approval it's a much easier life to live...
