hey guys sorry if this is a repost. wanted to post this for a few weeks.
if you trade in 3 games with a tiv over 8$ you get a free preorder.

im going today to trade games but to blockbuster.. they give way more, i dont think ive ever gotten under 15 bucks for a game there.

im getting bioshock and leaving the res on my account for two worlds.
 
Didn't know Stranglehold was on that list. Might have to jump in on that (there's still some clearanced PS2 games at some TSs here with a TIV > $8)
 
Damn. Wish they did Halo 3 Legendary Edition in February or something. I did 4 + $10 at Blockbuster for Collector's Edition... Then again, those games wouldn't have qualified at EB anyway =/

I'm quite new to pre-ordering games, and trading in games. So, please bare with me. If I trade in 3 games with a trade in Value of $8 or more, within the WHOLE month of august, I can get a copy of Metroid Prime 3? And if that is so, how do I get the game on release... do I just go over to EB Games and show them a reciept or something? Also, I have a bunch of games I'm considering trading in to get Metroid Prime 3, and if you can tell me which of these are worth $8 or more I would GREATLY appreciate it:

Call EB for trade credit.
I can tell you that most of those probably wont work.
EB gives you a receipt for the pre-order, bring it in and they give you the game.
 
I called 4 of my local EB's and they are all telling me that "stranglehold" is definately not part of the trade 3 deal. Has anyone in ontario been able to pull off the trade 3 for this game?

Do you think it is very acurate, as it says that Bionicle is $8 TIV. If so, then I can trade in Bionicle, Yoshi's Touch & Go (noticed it above) and some other game (I'll phone in a bit).

EDIT: I just phoned my local EB Games, and the guy said that he didn't hear about a deal like that (I live in Canada). Do you think I should just go there tomorrow anyways?
 
That's impossible all ebgames have the T3G1F promo maybe not all the games listed in the first post but atleast some.

Oh, good, I was probably just talking to an idiot employee then. I guess tomorrow I'll head off to EB Games and get a preorder of Metroid Prime 3 :bouncy:.
 
I was in EBG in London Ontario tonight picking up my new crimson red DS :Dand they told me Stranglehold was part of the 3-1 trade-in. Also that I didn't see on the list that is part of the 3-1 is Tiger 08. I'm going to try to wrangle up some cheap games to do 3-1 for those 2 if I can, but it's getting harder to find them!

Heh, I was just at the Hyde Park EB Games today. Which do you go to most?
I've done the trade in 3 for Halo 3, Bioshock, and another game in the past (the name is beyond me :/). And the guy told me that they are doing it for all this years sports games (i.e. 08/2k8). All the guys at that EB are really nice.

In case anyone is wondering, here's what I gave up for those 2 pre-orders:
Bioshock: Red Steel, Hotel Dusk, Phantasy Star Online 1/2+
Halo 3: Elebits, Odin Sphere (not my thing), Bully

And I don't know if they'd allow you to do this with Halo or any other game with a CE/LE coming out, but I did I was allowed to pay the extra $11.40 to get the LE of Bioshock (which is definitely worth it!).

doesnt work that way, most ebgames will only take 1 copie of each game and im pretty sure viva pinata doesnt qualify anymore.

Can any1 confirm the trade6 for legendary edition?
 
Ahhh then perhaps I was lucky, I did exactly that today. They also mentioned Viva Pinata barely made it at $8. I believe Quake was more.

And yes on the 6 for the Legendary.

I've been hearing a lot about this $5 off coupon.. Can I get some more details?

Also, these are the games I'm thinking of grabbing from the Circuit City deal, any idea if they'd work?

The only ones I'd think are Dynasty Warriors and Lemmings, but I'll ask tomorrow.
 
Best Buy had a side flyer with $5 coupons for specific games (like GRAW2, Darkness, Lost Planet, etc . . .) Also available was $5 off pretty much any kind of game other than PC (so Wii, 360, PS2/3, etc . . )

Some stores still have them available - the one I went to was out but had them by the cashier - all they did was scan them over and over.

Anyhow, I'm new at posting here, don't mind me.

There is no way Bionicle will net you 8 bucks. It was 8 bucks trade value in October of 2006. I'd be surprised if even ONE of those GC games qualified for the trade in promos. I don't know for sure (you would have to check with EB Games yourself) but to me not 1 of those at first glance would be worth 8 bucks. good luck anyway

[/quote] Hey Skardee, I actually live outside London in Dorchester, so the Hyde Park store is almost an hour for me! I frequest the Commissioners & Wellington and mostly the Argyle store. But of all the staff at EBs in London, they all seem pretty cool and up to date on most promotions.

cant believe people trade such new games. guess you could do that, but your trading 3 games you bought for over 40$ a piece. thats bad. look for the cheap games...i would have traded my halo preordre for just elebits and odinsphere.

and how do i change the title now to say canada? (cause I posted in the canada section, so why should I have again?)

Ah! I live in Strathroy, so Hyde Park is 15-20 minutes for me ^_^ If Argyle is the one I think it is (near the Rogers Video), I don't like it much >_> Although it was handy getting FFXII and THP8 for $40 and having to walk across the parking lot to get $68 credit!
 
Putting Canada in the title helps because the main site www.cheapassgamers.com puts the most recent posted forum topics on the right side of the screen. Any unsuspecting person from other regions will immediately click on the topic and be misled by the info if it doesn't apply to them.

Also trading in new games (3 for 1) which you will not replay or are done with is still a good idea because trading them individually nets much less value at EB. EB cracked down on a lot of TIVs so mainly recent titles qualify for $8 + TIV.

The best option is to sell on the classifieds but this is time consuming since you have to reply to emails, fend off offers from hagglers, and arrange a time and place to meet for the exchange (which could be unsafe).

DW was worth $8 for me last month, but Lemmings was only worth about $3. YMMV at your location.
 
Does anyone know where I can get some cheapish games that qualify for this promo? I know EB Games has the 2 for $20 deal so I'm going to go and check that out but are there any other games on sale that qualify?

i think you'll be hard pressed to find any games at the EB 2 for $20 sale that will in turn trade back for 8 bucks each..

maybe try checking out the Blockbusters or Rogerses for tradebait. sometimes i've found mislabeled newer games for much less and used them for trade at EB..
 
I know this is in Canada, but could someone ask the next time they're in if this deal works in the United States. This sounds like an amazing deal and would love to jump on it if possible.
 
I just came back from EB Games and got myself a preorder of Metroid Prime 3.

I dont know anymore then that. I know if you trade in a game for Halo 3. TIV any value and you will get a T shirt at launch, I would also recomend you go to the mid night openings but I can not say much more. (expect free stuff)
 
So Ranzo, could you confirm that Trade 3 doesn't work with Stranglehold?
Any news of Eternal Sonata or Ratchet and Clank to be Trade 3/Get it free at some point?
