years ago i read that either there was never a widescreen version or the original widescreen prints were damaged/destroyed beyond repaired... I really hope this isn't a "Matted" version.

Hey, no prob. I got the inside on a lot of this kinda thing. ;)

DVD reviewed by IGN and it gets a 10 out of 10!
transformers-the-movie-20th-anniversary-special-edition-20061027053934370-000.jpg

Overall, the Transformers: The Movie (20th Anniversary Special Edition) is absolutely worth buying since it not only offers vastly improved picture and sound but a spectacular collection of bonus materials and extras. In fact, for animation fans, social historians, or even just collectors of cultural artifacts, this is definitely one of the must-buy DVDs in 2006. And even if this is my final review for IGN DVD - should the kind and generous Mr. Carle decided that our difference of opinion is an employment deal-breaker - at least I can find solace in the fact that I took one of the year's best DVDs with me when I left.

Also Circuit City will have it on sale Next week starting Tuesday 11/8 for $12.99 through Saturday

I just hope Circuit City has it, last time I went to pick up DVD from them on release day(FFVII:AC and yes, I regret buying it). They had none and had to wait until Best Buy restock saturday morning.

I haven't seen this film in a really, really long time. While I was a fan of Transformers G1, I don't think that I want to actually buy it; I'll rent it.

I saw this on a theatre at Botcon and it looks great, but Hot Rod being almost pink now was a little rough. Some of the reviews have mentioned this and I thought I'd bring it up so people know they might not wanna get rid of their Rhino disc.

Oh and to update the widescreen issue, I think I was wrong before. Sony actually did find a widescreen cut that nobody knew existed and the previous theatre cuts only looked widescreen because stuff was cut from the top and bottom. That is why when you see comparisons between Rhino and Sony it looks like there is less in the Sony version, but that's because all this stuff has been comparing Sony widescreen to Rhino fullscreen, not Sony fullscreen to Rhino fullscreen. But even this is still all being debated.

Is any stores doing a promotion for this dvd? That will help me to decide if I want to get it now or just wait.

Just various sales... Circuit City has it for $12.99 I think.

I got this from familyvideo today and it is the shit. It has this ep that bridges season 2 and the movie that was only shown in Japan featuring
a fight between Devestator, Superior, the bad car combiner, the rescue vehicle combiner, and Metroplex.
The featurette on the new movie is 2 minutes long and doesn't show crap. Hot Rod does look a little pink, but I'd rather he look a ittle pink then they mess with the colors of this masterpiece.
This is one of the best DVDs ever and if Orson Welles were alive today he'd say it made Citizen Kane look like Gigli.

ok i got mine from CC just a while ago but NO lenticular cover! i thought it was packed inside or something coz when i saw it at the shop- it looked just like a regular one. damn i was fooled by own and didn't even bother asking due to excitement... CC does replacements yes?

SOB, I am sick of Circuit City. Just got back and they don't have any fucking copies. :bomb: I swear, they're starting to become like K-Mart. They advertise the stuff, but they don't have it when you go to the store. Hopefully I can get Best Buy or Meijers to price match(if they have it).

Oh and Cleaver, that car combiner is called Menasor and those transformers are called the Stunticons.

Does anyone know if Scramble City has any audio?

WTF! I thought all of them were supposed to have a lenticular cover. I'll try to PM at Best Buy at lunch today, hopefully they have it.

Nope, I had to dig and dig and dig and I found the LAST lenticular cover at my Circuit City. I almost bought it assuming it was on the inside but something told me to start digging.

Best Buy was completely sold out.

The lenticular cover is awesome, FWIW.

Can you post a picture of the lenticular cover...

Where the fuck is the soundtrack cd?!??!

I read about this months ago, but where is it? Oh well doesn't matter, I have both the soundtrack AND the score :p

I thought they said it was something like Botica.
The audio consists of 2 guys talking about it. No Japanese audio. They are slightly informative, but 75% of it you probably already know.

Sounds like I should just stick with the fan dub version that I have downloaded from Youtube. Some of the voices might be off, but at least it makes sense.
Any luck at best buy ?
Just got back from Best Buy, they did PM, they only had one on the shelf, not sure if that was it or if they had more in the back. It comes in a clear DVD Case and its got the lenticular cover, its fucking sweet!

That's even farther away from GP unless it's on your way home from work or something.

:D i work like down the block from that one, lets just say i have a scenic route to/from work everyday about an hour long.

fucking-A, on the first disc it says that there was Next-Gen Video game Trailer; when I clicked on it I figured it was going to be the next Transformers video game but instead it's Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom.

Just got back from my local Best Buy - they had the lenticular covers, but there were only four left when I got there. They weren't even with the new releases. They were part of an endcap near the registers.

Did the PM at Best Buy. Two or three copies left. Apparently it is true that the store locator says out of stock once it gets down to a couple copies.

Was hoping the lenticular cover was actually the insert, but oh well. It'll sit on my shelf. The sound on this DVD is great.

Got the last copy at Best Buy in Mesquite, Tx (Town East), tried to get my copy of GoW at the local CC, no luck just got the only faceplate that was left to ease my pain (They are sold out on the Transformers Movie).....

BB PM the movie, not bad, first time I do that.
Im gonna check at the best buy at Central Expressway and walnut hill
Scored the last one, the lenticular cover is awesome, Thanks OP

FYI: Costco is selling the movie with an extra DVD, Episodes 1-3 of G1 cartoon show for $15.XX. I wish I would have known about this, I'm curious to see how the episodes look/sound compared to the Rhino releases.

EDIT: It does come with lenticular cover.
Wait, so are the going to re-release the whole series again or what?
Sony has stated they will start pushing G1 out again next year. Just hoping my Rhino season 1 sells before too many more people know this.
