Yep, there are still 3-4 at the TRU near me (at least there were Saturday). Let me know if you'd like me to grab one for you. it would just be at price + tax + shipping.

Here's my feedback from TFW2005 so you'll know I won't run off with your dosh and spend it on cheap booze and even cheaper women.

I *maybe* might take you up on this ;)

I've got to see how my funds look, hopefully grabbing a G1 Pointblank and a G1 Blurr soon so not sure if I've got the $70 for MP Grimlock.

Good to see you've dealt with some of the people I'm about to buy figures off of too ;)

I was in my "local" K-Mart today, and they had a Voyager class Highbrow and Fallen (a repaint from the movie line I believe). It was the first I had seen the newest wave of Voyager class.

I would've picked up Highbrow had I not been buying 3 video games already.

I was at the Golden Ring, MD TRU a few weeks ago and managed to come across a Masterpiece Grimlock. I was so excited that I actually found one in the wild that I bought it without consulting my wallet first. I was thinking I might put it up on the 'ole auction block, but I figured I would post about it here first because it seems like people are having a hard time snagging this old dino in the wild.

He's near-mint out of the box. I have all of his accessories (gun, sword, crown), the instruction manual, and the box. The box has minor shelf wear and a few minor tears. I used a knife to cut the tape to avoid as many tearing issues as possible.

Send me a message if anyone is interested! I was hoping for about $80 shipped.

Got myself Generations Blurr finally. Decided to drop by Walmart during lunch and saw a lone one sitting on the peg. Haven't seen anything new for weeks so I just bought it right away figuring I wouldn't run into another for a long while.

Stopped at Target during lunch and saw (all singles) Megatron, Darkmount, Blurr, Thrust, and Red Alert. Not sure if they restocked today, but if you have a Target by you, it might be worth a look.

My son is 3 and he is starting to show an interest in Transformers. We DVR the G1 episodes on the Hub and watch them together. I had the hardest time explaining to him what Soundwave was so now according to him he transforms into an iPod. Anyway, I'd like to get him some toys but they obviously shouldn't be too hard to transform. Ideally he'd probably love Optimus Prime, Megatron (as a tank, not a gun), Starscream and Bumblebee. Do they make something like that?

Now show him what a VCR is... heh.

Figures of those are all easy to find, but I'm not sure how complex they are.

They're based on the recent movie designs, but Hasbro has a Gravity bots line with pretty simple transformations.

Activators look like they're a little more involved, but are listed for 4 and up.

I would say that, honestly, all recent Transformer figures (Scout, Deluxe, Voyager and Leader class) would be too complex for a three year old. Some of these transformations are pretty tricky.

I would look into the "Power Bots"... big, blocky Transformers with easy to transform modes designed specifically for young children.

http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/SearchResults.htm?SWD=power+bots&CDT=1288063281

They've got OP, Bumblebee and Megatron. If you've got a K-Mart near you, I know they are clearancing out the OP right now.

If you are looking into normal size G1 style figures that are easy to transform, they don't make those unfortunately (or I'm not remembering). Your best bet is to go grab a G1 Optimus or Bumblebee off Ebay, they are pretty cheap.

Coming soon they have tiny Transformers in what is known as the Legend class - somewhat easy to transform (I think, I don't really bother with Legends) but pretty tiny so I don't know if that is a concern. Here is the wave lineup -

http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HAS19515&mode=retail

OP, Bumblebee, Starscream, Megatron, Prowl, and Trailbreaker.

Megatron turns into a gun but other than the movie figures, you won't find a Megatron on the store shelves that turns into a tank.

Legends are great... but maybe not for a kid so young. The limbs might be a bit easy to pop off/lose/eat what have you. I'd say Gravity Bots, Fast Action Battlers, and Activators (imho Activators and FAB should be doable with a little help from Dad at first, but I don't actually have any figures from any of these three lines)

Also, unless I'm mistaken, Power Bots are big bulky action figures, they don't transform, so there's that consideration.

In other news, I somehow managed to snag myself a Shattered Glass Blurr off Ebay for $41 the other day, and it shipped today!

Seeing as how these generally go in the $80 - $100 range, I'm damn proud of this and excited to get him.

I've gone on a TF spending spree so I've gotten a lot of new figures (including a Shattered Glass Goldbug... who doesn't love an evil Bumblebee?), I'll probably take one giant group picture when everything arrives (I think the last package shows up Friday.)

Walmart roll back of tf generations to $9.00 snagged megatron, soundwave, and darkmount! Over paid for optimus at target, maybe I should make a return ?

Oh , these look nice I hope I find megatron, my son would love him.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm thinking of going with some Activators - the Animated series looks pretty cool and maybe he will grow into them a bit (they hover between ages 4 and 5). He's pretty effing smart but he has zero patience - I'll take my chances. I like Starscream (OOS), Bumblebee, Megatron and Optimus.

I finally found generations soundwave at walmart for $9.00. They had a darkmount which I got and then I returned my other darkmount to Target. Returning only saved me .99 cents but whatever I went to Target to get something else anyway.

Toys R Us now has a ton of figures available for sale on their website.

Pretty much all of Wave 2 and 3 of Hunt for the Decepticons and Generations (No Blurr and Dirge) but they've also added Axor for $11.99.

ROTF Lockdown was an excellent figure and since Axor is a repaint with a new head and a new weapon (as well as being a G1 fig), I'm definitely in. Came out to be $18 after shipping.

There is a code for $10 off $50 -

939831

Credit goes to the TFW2005 forums.

I just received Blurr and Dirge in the mail from HTS, getting Terradive and Tomahawk tomorrow... Blurr and Dirge are good figures for those that enjoyed Drift and Thrust.

Also revealed for Janurary 2011 were these figs:

Kup
Scourge
Optimus Prime (it is being said this will be G2 Laser Prime)
Bumblebee (A Classics redeco with the black stripes of Movieverse Bumblebee)
Perceptor
Wreck Gar

I just bought my first Transformer in 25 years - Thundercracker (from the Animated series - I think it is an Activator or something). I got it for $11 shipped and will be giving it to my son for Christmas.

Rockville, MD, TRU had an Animated Ironhide and 3 Rodimus (plus 7 Ratchet and an Oil Slick). Also had Generations Megatron, Soundwave, Blurr and Darkmount, but the $12.99 price made me hold off, and I'm glad I did. Did get the Wii remakes of Resident Evil ($9.09) and Resident Evil 0 ($17.49).

One of the Walmarts in the Catonsville / Ellicott City area had a mix from all 4 waves. Passed on Megatron because of the condition of the packaging, but picked up Soundwave, Dirge, Blurr and an extra Drift for $9 each. Couldn't make it to the other one in the area before it closed.

Actually, Prime starts November 26th (day after Thanksgiving) at 4 PM EST.

http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers...o-clip-with-theme-music-and-more-info-170820/

They are going to do the first two half hour episodes from 4 PM to 5 PM.

Then, starting on November 29th, the show moves into its 6:30 PM EST slot and will start to air the five part mini series. Monday and Tuesday will be repeats of Friday's two shows.

http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers...-five-day-mini-series-event-announced-170815/

The second link has a full listing of all the Prime airings, including encore showings, of the first five episodes.

I'd recommend bookmarking and checking TFW2005 for TF news, they post this stuff as soon as it hits and are doing tons of Prime and Dark of the Moon news.

On a different note:

Axor and Rescue Ratchet are now up at HTS.

Axor is already sold out at TRU.com (took all of a day or so), so this is probably your last chance if you want to grab him online. He's a pretty awesome repaint (with a new head and weapon) of ROTF Lockdown.

Thundercracker arrived - he is MUCH tinier than I thought he would be! Oh well, it says ages 4+ which is perfect. We went to TRU to find some transformers over the weekend but all of the stuff they had was too complicated for him so we ended up getting him a light saber.

I'm not sure how averse you are to buying used toys, but any Generation 1 toy is going to be perfect for a four year old, imo. Real easy to transform, the toys are built to last (meaning they can take the damage a 4 year old will inflict) and if you've already got him watching the G1 re-run's he'll know the characters already.

Some of them are expensive, but some, like G1 Prime, can be had dirt cheap on Ebay. Even cheaper if you don't really care about the accessories like the gun. With some cleaning it'll be good as new and it's going to last far longer than any recent toy will.

http://cgi.ebay.com/transformers-g1...ultDomain_0&hash=item3a60176877#ht_500wt_1156

Just an example, the first one I found, but $20 BIN and $10 shipping. Some other G1 figs, like Soundwave, go for around $20 - $25 without the accessories as well. For the price, you're getting a pretty large figure to the eyes of a 4 year old, too.

Just something to look into. With new Transformers, Hasbro has to keep both the children and the collector in mind for most of their lines, but back in the 80's the figures were made just for kids, so as such they are more durable and easier to transform.

On that note, I have a couple of G1's and a few RiD's for sale.

I just bought Generations Dirge today from Walmart.... its really the same model as the Thrust.

Not that anyone really cares :D, but some quick impressions on recent figs I got over the weekend:

Darkmount: Decent fig, don't really know the character (Straxus from the comics, which I didn't read), but I fucking HATE these damned clip weapons. Tomahawk and Breacher have em too, and I just hope and pray it isn't some sort of new trend.

Tomahawk: Speaking of which, IDK what it is about this fig, but I just plain dislike it. Not the worst I've ever got, but I find very little redeeming about it (and I love helicopter TFs). Just looks awkward as hell in bot mode imho (with the "wings" and semi-folded helicopter blades)

WFC Soundwave: As with other figs in the line, I love it! Great homage, and I always love "cybertronian" alt mode/reimaginings. Only complaint is alt mode looks a bit bland, and could ahve benefited from a black wash.

Terradive: This figure is fantastic. I absolutely LOVE the transformation, the compactness of the bot mode (minimal kibble bits), and the trident weapon. For some reason feels like some crazy offspring of Energon Sharkticon and Cybertron Noisemaze (I think US name was Sideways? IDK, I didn't watch Cybertron, I watched Galaxy Force)

I'll chime in with a recent one I haven't seen mentioned: one of the mini's--an Autobot named Breacher. I almost think he's a re-imagining of Beachcomber since he's blue and loves the beach, but he's one badass little poseable. The mold for his head is spectacular (classic human-esque face), great poseability, and even a slightly difficult transformation into an APC (but looks great once you get him properly changed).
r_breacher-071.jpg

My newest mainstream figures are Axor and Highbrow... both very awesome. I definitely recommend them to any TF fan, especially Axor who uses the very awesome ROTF Lockdown mold but with a new weapon and head to homage Action Master Axer from G1.

For non mainstream stuff (that's notable, I've gotten tons of figures in the past two months but I'm not going to list all the basic figures) I've picked up:

Shattered Glass Goldbug and Blurr (got the deal of a lifetime with Blurr)
G1 Sideswipe reissue (got a hell of a deal on him too, only $15)
G1 Blitzwing (complete)
G1 Abominus (diito)
Finally got around to getting SDCC Blaster and MP Grimlock
Botcon 07 Springer
Dark Skyfire

And I just placed my order for the Hyper Hobby Japan exclusive of Animated Black Rodimus :D The Shattered Glass one is way out of my price range so this'll work.

Hope the Dinobots are out by then. That set is just awesome

I agree with the clip weapons (and with not knowing the character). However, I think the figure, even without the weapons, is pretty awesome. The only thing bringing it down is the lack of paint. There's so much detail and you can't really see any of it. I'm in the middle of rectifying this.

They might be experimenting with clip weapons to not have to worry about pieces breaking off. I just think the clippy parts make it scream "I'm a toy!"

I kind of like it, but I think they botched the coloring in a different way from Darkmount. Here's one of the few instances where they used too much color. It would have been much better if the legs were all black. The helicopter looks great from the top, but from the sides and bottom it looks like a flying junk pile. If it had all been colored black, it would have made the helicopter look more cohesive, at least.

I actually kind of like the robot mode, but the helicopter parts tend to get in the way. I haven't quite decided if I like the head or not. It's kind of go-botty, though that just may be because of what I read recently.

Don't have Soundwave yet, and I have but haven't opened Terradive. I'm still not over it being orange (I hate orange) instead of yellow, like the promo pictures led me to believe.

I guess I shouldn't have sold mine back in 2003, eh? I had a TON of the initial G1 Transformers + boxes and most of them were complete with instructions too (Jetfire, the Dinobots and Insecticons were my newest ones so nothing post Movie but it was a nice collection). I got a lot of money on eBay for them - $350 for Jetfire alone and over $100 for Megatron!

We just picked up Animated Optimus Prime to go along with Thundercracker. We might try and get one or two more for Christmas but I think he will like what we've got.
what I read recently
lol, I have most of those, but through garage sale purchases, so never knew any of the names. God those are aweful, lol. And open up Terradive. Embrace him, for he is awesome (even if he has a horrible paint job). If (when) they do a recolor, I may have to break my "no recolors" rule...

javeryh: did you sell your soul too *glare. jk, I'm just jealous you even had them with boxes (I have a giant pile of instructions, but sadly didn't start my compulsive hoarding of the boxes till nearly beast machines. I seriously have filled at least 1/4 of my parent's attick with boxes... of empty boxes)

Watchman: Hell yeah, love the little guy (though again, friggin HATE the clip weapon!) Great transformation for a basic, er, excuse me, "scout".
Just wanted to let you all know Hasbro confirmed War For Cybertron 2, due in 2012.
Now where's my WFC2 toys! The game was decent (great for me as a fanboy, but only decent as a game) but damn those toys are fantastic!!!
I still haven't found WFC Soundwave. These aren't rare, are they? I've managed to find Megatron, Optimus, and Bumblebee though.
The case distribution for the new figures has been ok at best, horrible at worst.

Stores overstocked on Wave 1 and either aren't ordering new waves or putting out new figures.

I saw Soundwave at TRU today! I had it already though. I also so Blurr but left it there because $12.99 seemed high when Target and Walmart have it for less if they get it in that is .

TRU 11/21 - 11/24

All Deluxe figures are Buy 2 for $14.99

A little off topic, I saw the SDCC Galactus at TRU for $55 and it came with a Silver Surfer. It didn't come in a blister pack, instead it came in a box which opens with a flap. I'm going to assume you might be able to pick this up at hts too and might be able to get it for a better deal.
