Tritton AX 180 Headphones - are they really good?

My friend just got these are he said they are one of the best stereo headphones around which support both Xbox live and PSN chat. Just wanted to know if anyone here have used them and are these really good? I am looking to buy a pair of stereo headsets which support both PSN and XBOX live chat.

Why stereo? why not get the Turtle Beach X41 7.1 surround sound headset, This headset even plays the 7.1 uncompressed!, Uncharted 2 is a dream with these, best sounding 7.1 I ever heard.

I'm going for the x41's myself. It was between that and the Astroa A40's, but the Astro's seem kind of dated now, and are still the most expensive and tons of wires.

I picked up the AX180's when they first came out back in September, used them for about a week, then exchanged them for the AX720.

IMO it was definitely worth the extra money. The sound is amazing in the AX720 and you can tell the difference between that and the AX180.

I'm going to write up a short review of the AX720 on my website at Level Up News sometime tonight or tomorrow if anyone is interested.

But regarding the AX180, for me the fit became too tight after 45 minutes worth of gaming. The stereo sound and the voice chat were both pretty good from what I can remember. I just knew that these would be my main headphones/headset for my Xbox 360, PS3, and PC for a long time, so I felt the extra $$ towards the AX720 was worth the investment.

The AX180's were good, but after using the AX720's I wouldn't go back.

Hope that was helpful, and I'll let you know once I get a review up of the AX720's.

Here is my AX 720 review if you were interested...

Regarding the 180's, I think they were fine. They worked really well for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but for me, after 45 minutes or so of straight gaming, the head set seemed to be a little tight.

The sound was very good though and i'd say they were worth the $80.

Thanks for checking it out man! Let us know which headset you're going to get!

I like the sound for the price but they have horrible design flaw. After a few months they break off the sliding mount. I am on my second pair and they broke also. This is under normal use they can just break off above the screw part on the slider. Now I have to send them in for a 3rd pair that will break again. They need a better way to mount the speaker on the headset. I would stay away from them! You can find a lot of post online taking about this issue. Do your homework! :bouncy:
