Just to give a heads up Toys R Us is having a buy 3 get the 4th free on all video games starting the 16th. Not as good as the buy 2 get 1 deal but with all the blockbuster titles that came out this year its still a decent bargain.

Newbie Fraud Alert.
Just asking a question. A simple "no, you can't" would have been sufficient.

Yes, I'm a newbie, thanks for pointing that out.

Common sense says "Returning games you paid for and keep the freebie" is a no-no in all forms of language.

I mean think about it, if you were an owner/manager of a store and did a "Buy x items and get x items free" sale, would you let some random Bobby Blowhard come in, take advantage of the sale only to just return the games that was actually paid for just to keep the free game?

Now if you say yes, I hope no one ever hires you as a store manager.

Was a stupid question? Probably. I just thought it was worth a shot in the dark to ask. Did I argue that you should be allowed to? No. I simply said that responding like that was unnecessary. Why start a flame war? I'll delete this post (like I already deleted the question and response) if you delete yours.

You can exchange the free game. I did that a couple years ago. I picked up Brothers in Arms: EIB as a free game and went back the week after the sale had ended and picked up the first copy of Battlefront II. It was a badly managed TRU in the Co-Op City section of the Bronx but you can find grey areas in this deal just like any other deal. Stop being dicks and help each other out.

Stop trying to play it off. If you asked, then you wanted to do it.

What are you talking about lowenbotten, I'm not trying to defend JT, but he never tried to play it off as if he didn't want to do it. And king, he never argued that the store would want him to do it either.

Start thinking before speaking.

Yeah, he said it was worth a shot in the dark to ask. He wanted to know if he could do it. I don't see him trying to play it off. He made a mistake and apologized. Just let the guy walk.

I highly that there are many people who visist this board that never, ever skirted the line of fraud or theft. Hell, if you want to be technical about it, we should contact CC over the fact that their site is giving us 2 games for $20, intead of $30. So, just leave the dude alone.

Yes, I did mean to ask the question. I was curious if anyone had tried to return the ones they paid for and keep the freebie before. Seems like it might be a loophole. Yes, it would be stupid for a company to allow it, but it was worth a shot. Again, was it a stupid question? Probably.

Anyways, I apologize if I somehow wronged somebody in asking the question.

This site has a lot of great information, and I would hate for it to be ruined by people just looking to insult people. Like depascal said, let's stop being dicks and help each other out.

Thinking of doing Unreal III (which I just bought, so Id return it to BestBuy), Simpsons game (which system is it best for?), Mass Effect and Resident Evil UC...

went to 2 TRUs and they have absolutely nothing cheap for me to take advantage of this deal. i did manage to nab Tales of Symphonia NON-PC $19.95 and lunar knights $9.98.

A company price error doesn't equal fraud.

A company price error, for a company that doesn't give a shit about its customers and whose error has proceeded to become better for us with each sale (went from 2 for 26 to 2 for 22 to now 2 for 20), is fine by me. Believe me, I've tried contacting them in the past about some of their stores inability to keep the price tags on items accurate. They don't care. Add in the shit they tried with Speedy. fuck em.
Never mind the games I wanted to get, my TRU doesn't carry mature games.
They're usually in the glass case behind the cash register.

Never said it did, did I? It's still immoral, though. So, every person who ever took advantage of it did something wrong. Are we are going to chew their asses out, too? I think not.

Boo about COD4 being sold out. I am thinking about getting Uncharted, Orange Box, assasins creed and Bioshock. That would end up being over $180, anyone have any coupons or anything that would drop the price before i order?

Has anyone gone to the TRU @ Times Square for this deal? How's the selection so far? I want to pick up some Wii games.

I went to the 4th St NYC store today. They had an ok selection. I wanted to get all $40 games but they didn't have Disgaea PSP or Zak & Wiki, so I wound up getting:

Ratchet & Clank PS3 $60
Guitar Hero II 360 (game only) $50
Lego Star Wars PS3 $50
Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings DS $40 (FREE)

I would have preferred to get a $50 free game to maximize the deal, but games seem to only really cost $40 or $60 these days. Not bad, works out to $40/game before tax. I thought about heading to Times Square to see if they had Z&W and Disgaea but this is my third time doing this sale in as many months, and I don't think I wanna see the inside of another TRU until NEXT Xmas.

I went in and they had 4 copies of the wireless GH3 for the 360. I managed to get 4 christmas presents and save ~$110 after tax. Cheers!

Okay, what?

I saw these ads at my store, and it said "Offer Valid December 24". Not until the 24, -ON- the 24th. I'm gonna ask the manager and see if this was a mistake or something...

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is it possible to return the fourth free game and get money back?

You would get store credit afaik.

It's been asked a bajillion times, yes, and as with any B2G1 or B3G1 deal it's entirely YMMV to do an exchange and next to impossible that you'd be able to do a direct return -- otherwise people would be doing this left and right. Last time a TRU B2G1 came up, I was able to do an exchange of one title for another, but it couldn't be the game that rung up as free, so it had to be one of the "paid" games.

You can always take the fourth game and eBay it or trade it off, but a direct return would be immensely unlikely.

I went in to my local TRU today and attempted to pick up the following games:

Call of Duty 4
Mass Effect
Scene-It (They were out of Assassin's Creed)
Orange Box

The cashier begins ringing me up and I notice that COD4, ME, and Orange Box all ring up for 68.99 each. I was like WTF, that can't be right. Seems that they marked up all the popular games above retail to quickly turn a great deal into a horrible one. I pointed out that the games were all 59.99 online, and she said that they price them differently in the store. Seems like bullshit to me...Anyone else experience this??? Needless to say that I quickly canceled my purchase.

That seems weird. I can't swear to it, but I'm pretty sure my Toy's R Us has those games for the normal price.

The only game I've seen marked up was Picross for like $20.99.

Hey, quick question: can you return one unopened game that you payed full price for for another game, as long as it isn't the free one?

I purchased Orange Box, Ratchet, Uncharted, and Metroid Prime 3, and I'd like to sub OB for Resistance: Fall of Man when they get it in.

You can exchange any of the unopened games, even the free one. But people seem to have problems exchanging the free one sometimes.

I got a few games for a sweet price last night,
:ps2: FF XII $9.98:hot:
:360:Ninety Nine Nights $10.98
:xbox:Far Cry Instincts Revolutions $9.98
:360:Rumble Roses $9.98 (FREE)

They also had:
:360: The Outfit $9.98
:ps3:Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 $12.98
:xbox:Jade Empire LE $5

and a few others I can't remember.
