CAGiversary!

Here it is, the new green tag thread for this year. The old one was getting too crowded. The list is not completely updated yet, but sometime within the next day it will be 100%.

Basically, everything on this list is 50% off. The discount comes after the cashier presses total. THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percentage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

NOTE - THE GLITCH IS GONE SINCE THE BUY 2 GET 1 FREE DEAL IS OVER.

THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure the two green tag games are the same price or more expensive than the regular priced game. If the regular priced game is more expensive than the two green tag games, then the green tag game will be free, thus ruining the deal/glitch. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game to get the best deal. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Things in this font color are things I recently updated the list with(I double checked these at the store before posting). Note, these are not new items added recently, just things that never got updated onto the list.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.

**** = EXTREME YMMV - only offered online, only way you'll find it in a store is if someone returned it from online.
It's obvious you have no morals and don't mind ripping off stores so I am not gonna argue with you.... CAG is for getting legitimate deals and not meant to defraud stores, but good for you on your successful rip offs :)
Said the boy who cried wolf. Did you buy a single GT game during the TRU B2G1F sale and use it as filler for games that were more expensive than the GT game? yeh, ok. Good for you too.

Yeah, the employee made mistakes. But the fact is you returned to bank on that mistake a second time. That's where you went wrong. If you would've taken it and went away, fine, so be it. But going back to milk an error, that's a different story. You made some dishonest moves, but I'm sure you'll never see it.

But I'm done with this pissing contest. And I think it's pretty clever that your signature quote fits you almost perfectly.

I returned to bank on nothing. I returned to try and just get an exchange for RE4 and get Shadow of the Colossus which the guy said they had. Again, not reading thoroughly, the cs rep lady suggested to return the games because she didn't know how long the exchange window is (who knows if any of the employees know about policies) and she did the return. So simple, why must I explain this over and over? Oh, I know, because I'm arguing with sir genius and buddy. I will not be pulled down to your logic. All I know is, I did my part in just being a CAG and in turn was rewarded for other peoples' mistakes. Why don't you and DreamSymphony start a site called "richassgamer.com" where everyone is moral and buy their games at full price once it comes out and [n]NEVER try getting in on any deals that will potentially take profit from a company *cough spooge helping more than a dozen people abuse the GT glitch during the B2G1F sale cough*. Yeh moral, way to go epitome of hypocrites. :applause: And another thing mr. I know of the policies of my employer, TRU is more than happy to accept returns/exchanges without receipts, they just need proof of id, like a license or such. I've seen it happen more than a handful of times recently at my local TRU and the flagship store in times square. So unless corporate just changed the policy last week, I hope you know what YOU'RE doing too. We all would hate to see another employee help someone commit "fraud" because they didn't know the policies now would we? Maybe you should "go break something" now.

Man, if I wasn't ready to wash up and head to bed, I would find the TRU B2G1F thread and point out all your "moral" posts and advice and you would feel so ashamed of your own comments. You really show how wonderful TRU employees are. But enough is enough, I'll agree to disagree and stop the pissing party, but do keep in mind, I'll be watching guys. Should either of you suggest any "immoral" deals or ways to get a game for cheap without paying what's owed a store (like the 'ol GT glitch) and I will call you out on it. You're playing moral police? So be it, every cop needs to be kept in check too.

It amazes me how many people actually defend these big businesses. If you do it because you think they're going to change their return policy, then maybe I understand. But it just sounds like a bunch of people spouting from their moral podium.

All the arguments I hear in defense of these corporations include how wrong it is, and immoral and borderline stealing. Jesus tap-dancing Christ people, do you actually think these companies give a sh*t about any of us? They're in business to make money, granted. But making that money means they mark the products they sell up above a reasonable level.

They are the enemy, and we are theirs. They wanna make as much money off of consumers as possible. So why shouldn't we try and take advantage of them sometimes?

Think about it this way, If someone buys a game for $5 and takes it to Wal-Mart and exchanges it for $40 aren't they just increasing Wal-Mart's inventory, which Wal-Mart will in turn sell it for $40. They lose nothing. In fact, it shows how sinister they are. Why aren't they selling the game for $5 like the other store? If they were more in line with current pricing of other stores, they wouldn't fall victim to such practices.

Wise up.
I just picked up 3 of the EA Sports Wireless Ps2 controller's tonight for $3 each.

These controllers are AWESOME!!!!
Hi, I found an EA wireless controller for the PS2 and it was $24.99. Was there any special thing about the packaging? The one I checked was white. It was on clearance, but not for $3.

Thanks,

Wal-Mart does lose something according to your logic. If they sell a game for $40 that they paid $40 for, they make no profit. If they sold the same game from their inventory, which I assume they purchased for less than $40 (otherwise, they wouldn't be in business), they make money. So in doing this, you have taken money away from Walmart. Now, I'm not a big fan of Walmart, but when people like you screw them, how do you think they get back their lost profit? Bingo..raising prices so that we all suffer. Up to 10% of what consumers pay at the registers goes to pay the stores for loss of inventory (i.e. theft/fraud). So even though you say that they're the enemy, your actions don't hurt them, it hurts us.

Whoops. I just returned mine today for the $5 I paid for it. I knew I should have kept it to send to a CAG. Personally, I didn't like it, they work ok for games like Burnout 3, but then I went back to RE4, and I couldn't stand using it. The controller is just a tiny bit too small and the L/R buttons aren't easy to tap w/o changing your hand position.

The price on these seem to be YMMV, at a different TrU it was marked at $17.98.

I ordered a Logitech one instead (the hands-down best one ever made), you can get a refurb one for BIN $12.99 shipped from eBay...here's the thread:

Thanks for the link and the info. I play mostly action games, so this may not work for me. I picked one up from TRU today at $24.99, but if it doesn't work good for action type games I may return it.
anyone know when TRU will go to 75-90% off on green tags?
all games are now $9.99. they aren't on green tag anymore. So, if the game was on green tag, it will now ring up $9.99.

Against my better judgment, I got "Virtua Quest" today for $9.99. The local TRU didn't change the green tags, or else I'm sure all those crappy games that are left would have been gone by now.

Are Cold Fear, DragonBall Z Sagas, Rugby 2005, and Destruction Derby Arenas worth $9.99?

re: DDA; Get Burnout 3 for $15 after coupon at Best Buy instead. Already have B3? Then get Flatout for $19.99 after 360 coupon at Best Buy instead. DDA is such a sad game compared to those.

Cold Fear seems to be the popular game, but I've read that it doesn't have a map at all in the game, that killed the sale for me. I get lost even with an on-screen map (and it pisses my wife off to no end when she's watching me get completely lost in Fatal Frame 2, it's not my fault the room doors look just like the walls...:bomb: )

For the best answers check out the games here and here:

www.metacritic.com

www.amazon.com

combine data found on both websites and your decision will be easily made. The combo of reviews from the pros & kids works every time for me. (check reviews on games you already know about/own to verify the accuracy of the public consensus)

as for "worth", there's only one place to find that out:

www.ebay.com

Are some Gamecubes still greentagged? I scanned a ticket on one at TRU, and it came up "$45 off GC bundle, reg. $99.99." Are they half off???

$45 off the GC bundle is if you buy the system and a certain game(s). I'm not sure what the exact deal is going on at this moment. The Indigo's were GT, supposedly, but were removed this past week for this "Bundle sale"

Maybe so, man, but don't you think a multi-billion dollar business like Wal-Mart takes into account losses like that? Why else would they allow 3 returns a year without a receipt? The exact same thing would happen, and I've had to do this, if someone get's you a game that you already have from a Wal-Mart that is inconvenient to you. Say out of state or farther than you'd want to drive. By your logic, you wouldn't return the game to your local Wal-Mart because it would hurt them and they'd lose money.

COME ON!!!! That's insane. Again, Wal-Mart takes these things into account and adjusts their prices accordingly, I'm sure.

So take advantage of your yearly returns.

Baten Kaitos w/ soundtrack was Gted? Damn there were like 3 or four left. I did pick up Timesplitters FP and FF CC. I wonder if those games are worth $10 each

Back to the topic at hand, have most stores put the GT games back on the floor? Curious if I should stop by since most of them disappeared before the 9.99 switch.

I just want to add, in the defense of the corporations:

What if every single customer of theirs returned three items in one year that they bought for dirt cheap somewhere else, at let's say, a $5 profit loss per item..? Let's do some math...

I'm getting these numbers from http://www.business2.com/b2/web/articles/0,17863,514502,00.html, originally published in 2002, so the numbers would most likely be higher nowadays.

Number of daily customers at Wal-Mart stores worldwide: 15.7 million
Number of unique daily visitors at Walmart.com: 450,000

The 15.7 million number includes many repeat visits, so let's just use the unique visitors for this one. If each one of these unique visitors makes the previous mentioned returns at $5 profit loss per item, daily loss = 6.75 Million. Multiply this by the 363(?) business days they operate, annual loss = $2,450,250,000. That is still a HUGE hit even for a giant corporation to take in one year.

And yes, this is a huge exaggeration of an unlikely scale, but it shows the potential damage that is caused by those kind of actions. Where would this damage end up? That's right, on the consumer. Then we can add in these next two numbers as well:

Estimated value of goods stolen by shoplifters: $700 million
Estimated value of goods Wal-Mart employees steal from Wal-Mart stores each year: $1 billion

Increase for inflation and increase in oil prices for freight.

Everything adds up, and it's really hard to see on the small scale, but on the grand scale, the numbers are really impressive.

Now, don't call me a Walmart lover, I personally hate Walmart. But ever since the local Kmart closed, Walmart is literally the only store within an hour that you can buy needed goods. Why in the hell should I have to throw away even more of my hard earned paychecks because some people want to screw the system?

But like I already said, I'm done with this pissing match. I've said what I had to, and that's it. BTW - why is this thread even still here? A new thread should be started for the $9.99 game list.

Hahahahaha. Why else would I have to do this? Apparently you don't have any.

Ah well. To me it just doesn't seem like that big of a deal. There's lot's of other worse acts being committed every minute. I guess it's just what level of wrong you consider something. And taking advantage of an allowed return isn't very high on my list.

But thanks for the advice.
Umm... if you return a game that someone else bought for you from Walmart, then as far as the financial issues are concerned, you may as well have bought it yourself and returned with a receipt.

And yes, they do take these things into account, and adjust their prices accordingly. But wouldn't it be super if they didn't have to and prices were lower? What a concept. And no, I don't think they would suddenly drop prices if everyone stopped doing this, but once upon a time, they decided to raise prices to cover losses caused by this. Crazy, I know.

Back to the topic at hand, have most stores put the GT games back on the floor? Curious if I should stop by since most of them disappeared before the 9.99 switch.
Another martyr.

Keep looking out for big business, people. They're doing so much for you.

Again, if they thought it was such a financial issue, then they should be more in tune with prices from other stores. If they had more competitive pricing, then these things wouldn't happen. It wouldn't be worth anybody's time to even attempt a return.

For example: I've actually seen a greatest hit or platinum hit or player's choice (I can't remember which) being sold in a Wal-Mart for $49.99. Shouldn't they be $19.99? Isn't that the MSRP? That's just blatantly lazy and trying to cash in on those uneducated consumers a little bit longer. But hey, Wal-Mart's your buddy. They obviously have your finanical interests at the top of their list.

You think people like me are taking advantage of stores like Wal-Mart? Stores like Wal-Mart are taking advantage of you.

Says the hypocrite on CAG. I hope for your sake, you NEVER do anything "morally wrong" and then come here acting like the holy police. Please, most of us here are all about getting a good deal and that's it. I simply got a really good deal during the TRU B2G1F sale because of human error and that's it. I didn't hoard, I didn't do anything that deserved to be lynched for. I simply got a bunch of games that I really want to play for cheap and that is the point of CAG right? The fact that a few of you want to be the holy moral police, just goes to show how insecure you are of your own morals. I mean why else would you be on CAG? If you're so in support of helping big brother, why the hell don't you just go and buy every game for full retail price? It's ironic that you say you want to help keep prices of video games down and not see prices inflate, and here you are looking to buy games for as cheap as possible. :whistle2:k Kind of contradicts what you said no? Prices inflate not because of a few losses to the company here and there, but ultimately because less and less consumers buy games for full retail price (take for example, yourself), so companies take a hard loss by selling a game at $10 that took them a couple of thousand or million dollars to produce. THAT is what drives up prices. If you don't understand business supply and demand, I suggest you take some business classes before trying to berate others.

Something weird about my Toys R Us.. I think they're getting restocked. They told me they were out of Gallop Racer, yet had two this weekend. Also, I think they pulled many of their GT games off the shelf and are now putting a few in bins each day. It could be one or the other, or a combination of the two. I just snagged the following xbox titles: Thief, Cold Fear, Yourself Fitness.

Here is a list of cheap games I noticed at the Emeryville, CA store:

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory- Gamecube
Virtual figher ?# - PS2
Blowout for xbox

I dont remember anything else.

I picked up a few things last weekend at home.

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect x2 (gifting one)
Metroid Fusion

I thought about getting Splinter Cell... but I'm not to into the Stealth thing, but for ten bucks I should have picked it up.

Now I'm back at school, I should probably check what these TRUs still have... but it's snowing like heck outside, and I draw the line at risking my life to get cheap games (ok maybe that's going a little far, but I hate and I mean hate driving in the snow).

I picked up today:

Timesplitters: Future Perfect
Cold Fear (anyone play this?)

They had about a dozen Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles left.
A couple Metroid Zero Mission, a Metroid Fusion and a few others.

I've played Cold Fear. It's like a washdown RE4 with a shaky camera third person perspective. Playing the game made me dizzy at times, but it's an okay game nonetheless.

The Toys'R'Us on Dale Mabry in Tampa must have found some GT GBA games in the back, because they had none left a few days ago and today they had quite a few of "Metroid Fusion" & "Metroid Zero Mission" on the rack. Great pick-ups for $10 each.

Finally found a "Trauma Center: Under the Knife" there and it was their last one. Used my 20% off TRU coupon on it to knock it down to $23.99. Would have liked to have gotten it from Best Buy for $10 off, but haven't seen it there since it was first released.

--------------------------------------------------
Trade in your boring breakfast for a Metroid Fusion.

Not sure if this has beenposted yet but the green tagged games are now $9.99 not just the ones in the bin all of them. I tested it with metroid fusion and it was $9.99.

Yeah, this was pointed out a week before the price change. I'm still wondering why the topic hasn't at least been changed, since GT games are no more.
