CAGiversary!

Here it is, the new green tag thread for this year. The old one was getting too crowded. The list is not completely updated yet, but sometime within the next day it will be 100%.

Basically, everything on this list is 50% off. The discount comes after the cashier presses total. THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percentage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

NOTE - THE GLITCH IS GONE SINCE THE BUY 2 GET 1 FREE DEAL IS OVER.

THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure the two green tag games are the same price or more expensive than the regular priced game. If the regular priced game is more expensive than the two green tag games, then the green tag game will be free, thus ruining the deal/glitch. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game to get the best deal. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98
What happened to the scanned ad of the supposed 70% off on/after Christmas? Is it just a rumor or is it a go?
It's a go. Its on the back page of the ad released today.

Any scans of it? So does it start on monday or tomorrow? Also will be the games marked for $9.99 be 70% off,or will they be discounted to $4.99 and be 70% off that price? I havent had clarification on that yet. Thx in advanced.

All video games have been removed from Green Tag clearance. This 70% does not apply at all to video games, only accessories/toys that are still marked as green tag. And I'm fairly certain that most of the games currently $9.99 are staying as that, just a few other games added/reduced.

Thx spooge. But i thought the guy who saw the ad said something about games being $4.99. He seemed very confident that games were included in what he saw. Im not doubting you spooge, just trying to clairfy what i read.

There are going to be a few games dropped to $4.99, that is true. The games that are going to be reduced are listed in the big TRU sale thread, on the first page.

As far as Green Tag and games, they are seperate as of last month. I work for TRU, so I know this as fact. Every game that was marked as Green Tag (as low as $9.95GT to $49.99GT) was removed from that clearance and then marked at a flat $9.99. The only thing video game related that is still part of the Green Tag clearance is the accessories; speakers, carrying cases and the like, limited to items marked with the green price tags.

So games like Psychonauts and Dynasty Warriors 5 will stay at $9.99 for awhile then? What types of the games on the 1st page qualify for the $4.99 price? I thought all the games on the 1st page are related to the GT pricing.

Yo Yo Yo! Guys, check this shiznit out! :O

I looked at my Toys R Us flyer today. On the back, it has...

70% off all green tag!

Now given that all green tag games are $10 now, thats $3 a game! OMFG Moderator, update the post!

*holds his CAG morpher towards the screen*

It's CAG time!

Unfortunately, there's probably a grand total of 3 green tagged games left at my TRU.

I hope that is true. The TRU around me still have katamari, time splitter future perfect, metroid fusion and yourself fitness game still.

So... 70% off reg. price or 9.99? Hmm.... 70% would actually be a worse deal for some of the GT games at regular price, given this new sale.

*SIGH*

Ok. Video Games at TRU are NO LONGER GREEN TAGGED. They were removed from the green tag list and they are at a set price of $9.99. PERIOD.

You serious? :( Crap.

That's BS.

BS? How? Some GT games were marked at $49.99 before the switch to a flat 9.99. At 70% off, that's $15, 5 dollars more than the current price. So quit yer bitching and be happy. You can't get everything for free, or almost free.

"Ok. Video Games at TRU are NO LONGER GREEN TAGGED. They were removed from the green tag list and they are at a set price of $9.99. PERIOD."

My store is lazy. They leave the green tags on. Tomorrow, they will sell them to me at 70% off. That's the law. It's not *my* fault they're so damn lazy.

Go right ahead... more power to you... you'll save 4 dollars on some of the games. Others you won't save anything, and actually pay more.

You'll get 70% off the marked price, not the 9.99, since they never bothered to retag them.

My store also has afew games with green tags on them still. I'm thinking that Blowout ain't worth the trouble to see if they will give it to me for $6 though :D

The one's that actually should have green tags on them still will cost you more.

49.99-70% = $15
39.99-70% = $12
29.99-70% = $9
19.99-70% = $6

Yeah yeah, you can do math too. But If you clearly see it isn't exactly your best friend to be using those tags for most of these. Plus if your store has anything decent left for $19.99 from the old green tag then you're lucky.

The law is to give you the lowest advertised price. In most of these cases the game will already scan for the lowest price so you can't argue for a lower one.

I don't see what the point is now anyway. The only game left at any TrU is Doom3. I went to 3 in the chicagoland area and that was like the only one.
Here are the trade in values I got today(12/23):

Ghost in Shell(PS2) - $19
King Fighters Maximum Impact(PS2) - $19
Resident Evil 4(GC) - $19
Romance Kingdoms X(PS2) - $27
Rengoku(PSP) - $18
Dead Rights(PSP) - $18
Nightmare Druaga(PS2)-$19
Willy Wonka(Xbox the one with free ticket)- $19

If you get any PSP games at TRU make sure you get a free PSP starter kit. If you get PS2 games make sure you get a free Star Wars Jedi Hunter controller with each PS2 game!! This is the icing on this cake!!

Thanks,

I went to Gamestop today (12/26) thinking I could get some decent trade-in credit for a few games I bought at TRU, considering how cheap the games at TRU are and the fact that EBgames and Gamestop are having their "trade-in 5 games and recieve an extra 30% trade-in credit" promotion. Boy, was I wrong! This is what I got just about 15 minutes ago:

Shaman King (PS2) - $4.00
Romance of the Three Kingdoms (PS2) - $16.00
Death by Degrees (PS2) - $4.00
King of Fighters MI (PS2) - $6.00
Fight Night Round 2 (GCN) - $9.00

The total without the extra 30%: $39.00
The total with the extra 30%: $50.70

I originally paid $52.90 for the games at TRU this morning ($9.98 * 5 + 6% tax), which means that I actually took a loss of $2.20. Oh well, I guess it could have been alot worse. I'm just posting this to save all other CAG members the effort I went through today.

Could it be possible that the trade in prices could have adjusted already because of the flood of these games coming in from the TRU sale. I don't flip games since I usually only buy what I'm going to play.

BTW, I stopped by the only TRU that in my area that I haven't visited yet and found Mortal Kombat Deception Kollector's edition for PS2. I scanned it using one of the scanners TRU has mounted through out the store for its customers and it rang up $9.98. But when I went to the counter at R'Zone to purchase it, it then rang up $19.99. I told the guy that I just scanned it a second ago at the scanner and it was $9.98. He ask his co-worker and the other guy said yeah that game was $9.98 two days ago. So the guy ringing up my order was cool enough to price adjust it for me to $9.98. I tried adding another Star Wars controller but that didn't ring up free anymore. The guy at the counter thinks the promotion ended on the 25th. Anyway, with my $3 off coupon, MK KE turned out to be a real steal for me for $6.98.

He traded them in at GameRush not GameStop, you idiot. Who trades stuff in at GS?! ARE YOU KIDDING?!

You would be correct about the Star Wars Controller promotion it ended on Sunday.

Went back to the St. Charles, IL store and they restocked some items.

GBA Final Fantasy: 1+2 Dawn of Souls
GBA Golden Sun: Lost Age
GBA: F-Zero GP
GBA: Wario Ware

A few Pikmin 2's were still available as well.

I Need 1 more Resident Evil 4 if anyone has one for trade.

That is pretty sweet that he only charged you the sale price. I always find the salespeople at TRU to be pretty helpful. They also seem to know a lot about what they are selling, unlike other places where the salesmen look like a deer in headlights when you ask them a question. Are there any other TRU promotions out there right now? I've got some time on my hands.

aoLat, don't call me an idiot. That is not at all necessary. There isn't a GameRush even within 50 miles of where I live, so it didn't even cross my mind to go there.

The $3 off coupon was something that I got on a receipt of one of my purchase. You call an 1-800 number answer a survey and get a code that when used by the Cashier gives you $3 off of any purchase. The code is only active for 90 days. Now that I look at the list, I don't think the PS2 premium pack was supposed to be $9.98 but for some reason it kept on ringing up $9.98 on the customer scanners. I agree with you that most of the R'Zone staff I have dealt with are gamers themselves and actually know about the stuff they are selling. They were also pretty good at helping me find the $9.98 games I was looking for.

Today i tried to buy a Memory stick duo 128mb. It price checked at $2...
I said I'll take them But when the sale rang up they went to Zero dollars because of the automatic $5 coupon. Needless to say he didn't sell it to me. Not only that the manager turned the price back to $35. Beyotch!
Anyway if you want one of these cards I say make sure you have something else and then maybe they won't notice the free Memory card

That's not right, it's not your fault that Toys R Us is stupid enough to clearance them out and run a $5 off promotion at the same time.

I totally agree. Even if stuff is pennied, they pretty much have to give you at least one of that item for the price. And jacking up the price on top of it all is even worse. That manager is an apparent jackass.

If you want to flip the games, take them to Rhino if you have one near by. About half of the games on the 9.98 list qualify for their 2 for 1 deal (i.e. trade in 2 games that they sell for 24.99 or higher and get a new 49.99 game for free.) I did this and got a bunch of new releases for a little over $20 each.

I went by my TRU today and picked up Polarium for $10. I almost ended up not buying anything. That TRU electronics section was probably the worst designed place I've ever been. It was a separate section and you had to purchase your games before leaving the little area. There weren't any price tags on any of the games and no price checking scanners. The only way to tell was by waiting in line and askng the cashier. There was only one cashier. As if that wasn't bad enough, he had just been in a car accident and damaged his wrists. He could barely punch the keys and he couldn't bag stuff up by himself. He was on some kind of medication too since he was a bit out of it the whole time I was waiting. The least they could have done was get a backup cashier to help.

I can see why that company has decided to focus on Babies R Us. Every part of the store I was in was just a mess. The corporate managers were probably cutting employee hours to save money. The idiots don't realize what a bad impression it gives customers when there is no one around to keep the store clean. I wouldn't be surprised if TRU doesn't make it another year.

I got Bard's Tale (PS2) from the Media Play next door for $17 too while I was down there. Not a bad haul for today. I didn't find any of those Best Buy coupons or I would have gotten Mario and Luigi DS too.

it seems like they got more stuff in my TRU.

i was able to grab:

Mr Driller - DS
Klonoa 2 - GBA

this afternoon. when i went back tonight i grabbed:

sid meyers pirates - xbox (x2)
fatal frame 2 - xbox
bloodrayne 2 - xbox
raze hell - xbox
pariah - xbox
haunting ground - ps2
bards tale - ps2
ape escape:pumped and primed - ps2
f zero - GCN

im gonna hit the other TRU tomorrow and see if they got any more titles

I hate how the games are in a seperate section as well and miss the old system with the tickets. They really do need scanners in the R-Zone since like you said most games didn't have price tags (or in some of the TRU's I have been to, the tags aren't correct). That of course works in your favor even if it is a little fusturating because no tags or wrong tags mean you have a better chance of getting the cheap games.

The one thing I have seen at almost every TRU I have been to is that they don't even have most games on the shelves anymore and just have display cases out with everything in the glass case behind the register. The problem with that is you basically have to just go to the glass case to see what you want anyway since the display cases usually aren't accurate about stock levels. In addition, all the stores seem to keep the display cases of out of stock games in the glass case. It makes it impossible to tell if the game you want is really in stock or not. I saw 4 Tekken 5's in the glass case, asked for 1 and was told they were all display cases and the game was sold out (this happened with many other games as well at many different TRU's). I wish they would put the display cases in the back room once they are sold out rather than in the glass case.

Even with those annoyances, it's still worth it to me because it seems like they are constantly having deals now unlike years ago where it was almost impossible to get deals on games at TRU

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, I live in the anus hole of the US when it comes to Video Game trade-in stores. I'm in PA, and there isn't any GameRush's, Rhino's, BestBuys... ect. anywhere in my area. I'm stuck with poopy-butt Gamestop and EB.

I took my extra pikmin 2 to walmart, and they returned it, giving me $52 on a gift card. Zelda TP for $10 ;)

Definately. I saw a few Warioware for gba just the other day in my area for 9.98.

i was able to buy the last warioware for $9.98 at my bay area TRU. the cashier was suprised to see that much of a price drop for that game ($35 to $10!!). how hard is it to find metal slug advance at TRU?

oh i also got viewtiful joe 2! TRU is definitely the place to get some cheap @$$ games!!:applause:

I checked on Geist, but it wasn't dropped to 9.98 yet. Tried to get Area 51 for PS2, but the guy working told me the markdown was only for the xbox version. If anyone knows when Geist is suppose to drop, please let us know. It looks pretty cool.

Today according to the TRU sale thread. Looks like I might have to stop by at lunch today to get it.

Manged to get GBA F-Zero, FF 1 & 2, and DS Polarium today.

If I owned a Gamecube, I probably would've bought a few more games.

Too bad no Metal Slug Advance.
