Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.

**** = EXTREME YMMV - only offered online, only way you'll find it in a store is if someone returned it from online.
Do you mean more stock of the same games or entirely new games being marked down? Both would be nice, but of course we'd really need the list on the latter since most of my best finds have been at stores that don't tag certain items - so only us CAG's know about them being 50% off :D.
Ya when stores tag the items or have a clearance bin I never end up with anything.

Most of them are Gamecube titles. There are some really interesting ones as well. I will be honest, I forgot to bring home the list!!!!! I was so busy pulling and tagging all this stuff I forgot to grab it. Also week after next TRU is doing their buy 2 get 1 free on Gamecube Players Choice titles. I remember DBZ Sagas for Cube was there as well as a ton of Cube accessories.

Yay, my internet is working long enough to post something for once tonight...

B2G1F PC sounds good... still need to pick up Wind Waker, Sunshine, etc, so I'm just gonna pass those up at the used sales this weekend.

Excellent - I'm looking for 'cube games. So you pulled these and tagged them but they don't go out until Sunday? Is this likely to be at every store, or do they all follow their own schedule? If so I won't bother going tomorrow (Sat). I was going to stop by to see what they had left in preparation for 70% off...

The only problem is that none of the TRU around me have very much in the way of GC games to start with, so I'm not sure what they'd be able to pull and retag :D.
Most of them are Gamecube titles.
This is bad news, as I need to stop buying games. Have the "new" games been green tagged at most stores now? If we go to stores, will they already be at 50%?

I would assume the markdowns would begin on Sunday. If you need to stop buying games, my first recommendations are to a) cut up your credit card and b) stop reading this forum. ;)
Can you combine the 70% sale with the buy 2 get 1 free deal?

Also is there a 90% off sale?
I'm not a TRU employee, just a patron, but I would think that at almost 70% off you're already getting a great deal. I would assume there'll be a 90% point, but I highly doubt many quality games will be around at that point. Also, I would assume the B2G1F deal is for specific games (if they do this deal again this fall) and I would doubt that many of the Green Tag games would be on that same list.

Boy, I'm just a shining ray of optimism today. :)
Can you combine the 70% sale with the buy 2 get 1 free deal?
Last year, the Green Tags overlapped the B2G1F sale as well (or was it a B1G1F?). They're separate offers that will work together, since one is price-adjustment, the other is quantity related. As for what will be included: no one knows yet....
When does 70 percent start?
Should be about the 27th of September (or whatever day Tuesday/Wednesday is)
The 27th! So many people have asked this the past 5 pages....sheesh!
Sorry, you know you should edit the damn topic title or something cause I dont check this thread ever so how would I know if it was asked a long time ago or not.

Thanks for the info.

So when does the 90% clearance start? :)

But seriously, when?
No one knows for sure yet.
Yep. I'd best guess it to be around early/mid November since 50% Green Tag began in early August and 70% is on September 27th. Seems like it's been about a month and 1/2 for items to be 50%. Who knows? Maybe it'll be the kick-off of Black Friday.
can we have some a list of the games that are being added, which ones did you tag
Go to post #1043 for the answer to your question. A little scrolling goes a long way. ;) It'll come in soon, but you may want to go to your TRU tomorrow just in case. Give the guy a break. Who the heck wants to go back to work on his day off???

c'mon now, im not an idiot, wouldn't ya think that instead of saying "a bunch of Gamecube titles" he could have remembered a few

and btw that still dosen't answer my question;)

I know it doesn't answer anyone's question (we have them too), but that's the best answer we have. It'd be nice to have another TRU employee post on here, but for now there's only one and it's his day off. Remember as Obi-Wan Kenobi once said: "Patience!" We'll find out soon enough.

Well, I went in today and asked if any new green-tagged games were going to be added and they said they are putting more out tomorrow. The guy looked for the list for about 10 seconds, couldn't find it, then helped someone else. He said they'd be out in the morning though. So, no idea what they will be, but at least there's a second confirmation that something new will be out there :D.

I'll rely on you East-Coasters to post what's new and if there's anything interesting then I'll head out :D. I didn't notice anything major missing from the GC section, so not sure what they could have pulled and tagged. Maybe they got a new shipment of stuff for the sale? We've heard EARLY in this thread that that might happen.

The following is the list of games that will be added to the green tag sale on Sept. 18th. Funny thing is, I've had the list since Friday but was so sure that someone else would be on top of this that I didn't even check to make sure someone had posted it. Hope it helps.

Hmm... those will be nice in 2 weeks. $15 each? I can do that.

Glad it's been posted. Too bad there's nothing for the Xbox for me. Would have been nice to see TimeSplitters: Future Perfect for the Xbox, but I can give it some time. Sooner or later it will be mine cheaply. I just bought TimeSplitters 2 used so I'd like to play that one first anyhow.

Haha... yeah, I just (well, not really) got TimeSplitters 2 for GC at TRU ($5 right now), I've played it a whole once with a friend of mine. Its pretty good for an older FPS, he swears by FP, will be interesting to see it.

Of course, the fact that I've actually played TS2 (compared to the 5-10 others that I haven't opened yet) is pretty damn impressive.

Kinda hoping there are a few more GC titles as sren implied, but ah well. Can't be too greedy.

(and let me say thank God to whoever fixed my damn internet... cable guy said he was gonna drop by this afternoon to look at it, but never did... but it seems to be better now. I might love that man, especially if he credits my account like he was supposed to)

Yeah, no kidding - he made it sound like there were so many GC games he was so overwhelmed and thus couldn't remember any of them :D. Now there's actually only 2 on the list? I wonder if there aren't more though - maybe jetsetmario's list is only of the ones at his store or something - and sren's had more?

In any case, looks like I will be going into TRU tomorrow - the DS games in particular look interesting, though I'd probably want to get them at 70% - $10 or $15 is a bit too much for those particular games.

Musashi sells for $20 in our system, so $10

There are a few non game items in there he didn't mention above, including:

*Action Replay 16mb ps2 version
*Racing wheel for ps2 (can't remember which one, i think it sold for $60 tho)
*the jedi/sith single pack ps2 controllers they had back with the episode 3 promo
*gamecube starter kit (has a 3rd party contoller in silver, black, or purple, and a memory card with a extension cable)
*gamecube wavebird controller (this is the older skn of the two in our system, chances are you probally will find the new skn version at your store. Mine had none, and very few stores in the region did.)
*NDS Dock it (charging system)

I may have missed some, but there ones here were the only real ones of note.
I'm sure any I missed will be quickly added by you guys tommorow as you see them, though.

Actually the list I have is for the inclusion of all platforms. DBZ Sagas, Call of Duty, etc for all platforms-about 15 Cube games in all-I believe the list is different by region. Also Cube Player's Choice next week are buy 2 get 1 free-Decent DS bundle as well-Ultimate Spiderman, DS, accessory case for 159.93-save $40. Also Gamecube system, Sonic Gems, Memory card(3rd party) for 109.97 save $30.

Guess I'll drop by today and see what they've got new. 3 new PC games for $40 sounds pretty good next week.
Ohhh, Musashi, XenoSaga, and maybe Cold Fear will be mine! :D
Isn't Cold Fear still at $50 at TRU or has it dropped? Thus, it'll only be $15. No better than a GGC at BB. Maybe it'll drop in MSRP soon and we can get it even cheaper. Of the new ones, that is the only one that peaks my interest. Thanks for the update though!!

The nice guy at my local TRU printed the list for me. It's very limited all of the games have already been mentioned in the thread. The list didn't indentify games that may have dropped across all platforms, but I did have him scan Dragonball Z sagas and it was on sale.

I scored Atari Retro DS for 10$

Meh... nothing new tagged at my TRU, not that that means anything other than probably lazy employees. But that does mean I'm not gonna bother having them scan ten things to find out new stuff. I'll just wait till 70% and hope that SC: Chaos Theory and TimeSplitters: FP are actually tagged. I think I will be picking up Super Monkey Ball 1+2 for $30 though, sometime this week (not part of the sale).

Are the newly added items scanning in the regular fashion at the in-store scanners?

I checked several items on the list and they came up something like "GAME PROMO reg. XX.99"

I checked some of the older green tags and they scan the usual "Reg xx.99 Now xx.99"

Yep, nothing tagged at my TRU also. Saw Mushashi for 19.95 and Call of Duty for 19.95. I asked the guy at the counter if these two are green tagged and gave me a quick response, "no, those aren't green tagged". So, I left.

I picked up PS2 Robots and NDS Feel the Magic for $9.97, PS2 Pool Paradise for $7.47, PS2 Tomb Raider for $4.99, and PS2 Trigger Man for $3.49 today. I hope to take them back and get them adjusted (or really just return/repurchase) next week when they hit 70%. I will also pick up Atari Retro and Polarium then - they had a ton of those so I don't expect them to run out before then.

Mushashi and Call of Duty were green-tagged at mine - in fact they were just tagging the Call of Duty and offered me one. Saw Cold Fear also, and several other things from the new list.

Would they really let you do this? I could be mistaken, but aren't all sales final for this Green Tag sale? Just curious. If anyone from the GameZone lurking that could fill us in about this we'd appreciate it.

Heh, nah... I've returned TimeSplitters 2... twice ;) Once cause I had bought it like a month before, and I needed to have a newer purchase in order to do the same thing once it hit 50%. Thinkin about doing it at 70% too, if I'm cheap enough to need that extra 2 bucks back. I think I am.

I'm planning on taking back a whole bunch of stuff i left sealed - i should get back about $25 bucks, assuming im allowed to do it.

If its within 45 days - they can't stop you from returning it. The re-buying it they might give you trouble with.

They let you do that? Interesting! I would assume it was still sealed when you returned it?

Yeah. And as far as "re-buying", if there are copies on the shelf still, just do that, make your life easier in case you do it with multiple games (return at customer service, purchase at R-Zone, different employees). If you want, I suppose you could try to actual re-buy the exact copy you sold, but no real point and unnecessary hassle unless its all sold out.

And with TimeSplitters, I'm actually gonna have to buy a new copy, and return that copy with my old receipt :p It was within 45 days, but I had to open it when my friend was over a couple weeks ago. Ah well, call me immoral.
