First off, the TRU store #9565 in Sunset Hills, MO had 20 pre-sells to hand out.
The 20th person in line got there at about 8:30am. I got there about 7:30am and was 10th. First person camped out overnight from 6pm. Since the temps were below freezing, I slept in, and still got a Wii, just like he did.
But, the news is that the mgr told the line of people waiting that the store WILL BE OPEN at 12 midnite of the 19th for the Wii launch.
He also said that as far as he knows, only 4 TRU stores were chosen for this.
We're thinking NY, LA, and DAL or CHI are the other three. Why his store got chosen, he don't know. Could be because we're close to a UPS distribution hub in the middle of the country where they've been staging them. Or he could have been saying it to make us feel special.
I also think the 100-120 numbers are sounding right. The Target down the street is getting 50, and there's a WM next door to it between Target and TRU.
Bottom line, if you're in STL, Lindbergh & I-44 in Sunset hills will be the epicenter of the highest concentration of Wiis in the STL area, with WM and TRU selling at 12 midnite. Maybe Target joined in the fun, I hadn't asked.
Could be why TRU is going to open at midnite, because the WM across the interstate is 24-hours and will start selling them at midnite too. Gotta keep up with the Joneses. I also think that it might have something to do with TRU wanting to be the "first" to sell the Wiis. It doesn't look good when your neighbor is selling Wiis with a good 9 hour head start (this TRU opens at 9am on Sundays).
Also, the presell ticket says $30 off three games -- NOT "any" Wii games, but "any three of these titles". What are the titles?
