TRU WII Launch - 4 US stores to open at midnite

CAGiversary!
First off, the TRU store #9565 in Sunset Hills, MO had 20 pre-sells to hand out.
The 20th person in line got there at about 8:30am. I got there about 7:30am and was 10th. First person camped out overnight from 6pm. Since the temps were below freezing, I slept in, and still got a Wii, just like he did.

But, the news is that the mgr told the line of people waiting that the store WILL BE OPEN at 12 midnite of the 19th for the Wii launch.

He also said that as far as he knows, only 4 TRU stores were chosen for this.

We're thinking NY, LA, and DAL or CHI are the other three. Why his store got chosen, he don't know. Could be because we're close to a UPS distribution hub in the middle of the country where they've been staging them. Or he could have been saying it to make us feel special.

I also think the 100-120 numbers are sounding right. The Target down the street is getting 50, and there's a WM next door to it between Target and TRU.

Bottom line, if you're in STL, Lindbergh & I-44 in Sunset hills will be the epicenter of the highest concentration of Wiis in the STL area, with WM and TRU selling at 12 midnite. Maybe Target joined in the fun, I hadn't asked.

Could be why TRU is going to open at midnite, because the WM across the interstate is 24-hours and will start selling them at midnite too. Gotta keep up with the Joneses. I also think that it might have something to do with TRU wanting to be the "first" to sell the Wiis. It doesn't look good when your neighbor is selling Wiis with a good 9 hour head start (this TRU opens at 9am on Sundays).

Also, the presell ticket says $30 off three games -- NOT "any" Wii games, but "any three of these titles". What are the titles?

 • Marvel Ultimate Alliance
 • Tony Hawk Downhill Jam
 • Spongebob Creature from the Krusty Krab
 • Avatar The Last Airbender
 • Metal Slug Anthology
 • Call of Duty 3
 • Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz (presell ticket still says $59)
 • Trauma Center: Second Opinion
There ya go.

No TP on the list? I'm out.

Bestbuy also has a flyer out with $5 bucks off multiple titles as well, the Activision ones, Elebits, Monkey ball and A free Twighlight Princess guide when you buy it and Excitetruck

Out of any of the St. Louis TRU's, Sunset Hills would be the one that would be the "best" of any of them. One of our TRU's closed, and the rest aren't the size of this TRU.

St. Louis will be a madhouse on the night of the 16th, with the PS3 midnight sale at the Chesterfield, MO BB, as well.

It should be noted that the TRU in Times Square in NYC will be one of the midnight stores. And the Nintendo World Store? Closed until 8am on Sunday.

Is that or is that not the most retarded thing you've ever heard? TRU is selling Wiis, but the flagship fucking store is closed.

As you may imagine by the tone of my post, I have a Wii reserved at the World Store, and it is fucking my schedule royally by not being open at midnight.

Too bad the Lubbock, TX TRU won't be open at midnight, heh.

My brother keeps banking that he'll be able to get one launch day, but I dunno... if the rumors of TRU getting 100 units plus hold, then chances are he will.

Luckily, I have one reserved at GS. :)

The TRU near my house has confirmed 100+ wii at launch and we they only had 2 preorders for 20wii's each, I guess thats alot extra for everyone else

The Kirkwood WM is 24 hrs? I thought the only 24 hr ones in the area were St. Charles, Manchester and Lake St. Louis?
http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/news/15992638.htmSo I think it's more than just four around the nation.
I think so too. I think TRU looked at the competition in the market and made store-by-store decisions on the basis of whether or not other nearby stores were also going to be doing midnite sales.

And it might have been four stores had made the decision when the manager told us on that frosty Sunday morn. I would not be surprised if they added more today and on through the week as they find out more about other (non-TRU) stores midnite plans.

Oh, and I am corrected. The Kirkwood WM is not 24 hours. Maybe the one up on Laclede Station might be, and the Clayton Target Greatland probably is too.
The Sunset Hills TRU is the biggest in the STL area, though.

Just called the TRU in Covina, CA. I was poiltely told by the lady that she had no idea if they would do midnight launches. After asking if anybody in RZone would know, she claimed that only the "higher ups" were privy to this information. :whistle2:$
