(wonders if PS3 is in the same ad...)
You Can pre order Zelda at game crazy as well, and castlevania portrait of ruin as well with bonus bundle. Hope this helps!
I don't live near a Gamecrazy, and even if I did I doubt I would preorder it there because I don't want to make two stops on the 19th. I want to get my Wii and Zelda at the same store.
Was the PSP that unpopular? I couldn't find it anywhere in stores for atleast a month after its release.
at my toysrus in tampa area of FL, we sold about 8 of them on launch day for the PSP and really didn't sell out until the fall.
People are just over-speculating as usual. It doesn't say anything about preordering on XX date. Just "Only $50 to reserve a Wii game system today."

What people don't realize is these ads are printed weeks, if not months in advance. Available quantities can be cut or run out quicker than originally expected, but it's too late to remove the reservation part, as the ad is already in the hands of the newspaper/distributor. I used to work for a major newspaper as a production supervisor, so I know this first-hand.

Honestly, I would bet that there is no more preordering for the Wii at TRU. And yes, it is from the 11/12 ad, I have a copy right in front of me.
I can confirm this having work in merchandising for a corporate retailer. Even newpaper ads cannot be changed any later than a week or so in advance. Catalogs? We wrote them up months in advance, and they blue lined beyond any possible change about a month in advance.
Okay, this number is going to sound ridiculously big, but I heard it directly from the manager of R-Zone: 100 systems.

Yup.
I can vouch for him. He used to work there. Met him on line while waiting for a PS3 and WII and he was all buddy-buddy with all the workers in the R-Zone. Definitely a cool cat.

I remember with the Gamecube launch that after it sold out, Nintendo had regular shipments until Christmas. I was lucky my friends at work stopped by BestBuy and found out they had them. I rushed over there after my lunch and bought a black one for my brother who really wanted it. So after Wii launch, systems will probably get restocked but it will take some intel and luck to get them.
I think the Wii will be very abundant during the 1st week of release. It will be PSP dejavu where it will be available everywhere during the first week of release.

For Miyamoto's sake, everyone, please stop using the PSP's (relative) surplus as a precedent to anticipate the demand for any system--handheld or otherwise--releasing in the 'holiday season'. Sony's handheld was an anomaly for at least a half-dozen different reasons.

Hey, it's not just you. It's, like, every other fucking gamer in every other fucking console launch 'anticipation thread'. And you apparently like Oasis, so you've got that goin' for you.

P.S. Anyone out there who still thinks getting the Wii this holiday season will be like picking up a loaf of Wonder bread, you will be sadly mistaken, even if that same stubborness will not allow you to concede to us how much you really wanted to go home and try to Force-choke your reflection in the bathroom mirror for failing you for the last time.

"Ah, no big deal, brah. I didn't want it that bad, anyway, even though I've tagged every Wii preorder thread on the Internet and been looking at every Zelda screenshot for the last two years."
You seem like a cool guy. No sarcasm.
I noticed that EB/GS are no longer offering Zelda for preorder. Due to "Limited production by Nintendo." Interesting...

A ploy to push people to preorder other, lesser games? I think so. No matter what the motive, I'm calling bulls***. Games shortages at launch are never an issue, especially for preorders. Worst case, they should state that preorders placed after a specific date may not ship at launch. So, yeah, this is to drum up sales for fucking Elebits and Excite Truck and Red Steel. Anyone realizing this should be pissed.
When I left the company (Gamestop) in April, we had something like 350-400 Zelda preorders. Alot of other stores had similar numbers. Im sure those numbers went way up with the Wii hype. Stopping Zelda preorders was probably a smart thing to do.

I was told today they stopped Gamecube version preorders

there is going to be a huge amount of Wii's for purchase everywhere. I believe on launch day you will be able to walk into a store and pick one up, but they will become increasingly harder to find
there is going to be a huge amount of Wii's for purchase everywhere. I believe on launch day you will be able to walk into a store and pick one up, but they will become increasingly harder to find
We should take wagers.

You'll be able to find a Wii pretty easily -- you may need to go to a few places on launch day, but I wouldn't worry about acquiring one. And I'm absolutely convinced Ninty will be restocking shelves quickly and without the same problems that plagued the 360 and now the PS3.

You have to remember the Wii is NOT technologically difficult to manufacture. I'm not dissing the system, but it has no dual cores, no CELL, no Blu-ray, etc. This is, as many developers have stated, Gamecube on steroids. Even IBM went on record to talk about how "reliable" the Hollywood/Broadway chips are -- that's industry-speak for, "this ain't cutting-edge, folks, but good enough for what Nintendo wants to do".

Nintendo promises 4MM units by end of 2006, and they should have NO problem filling that. They've been producing these consoles for a while now, and with many fence-sitters such as myself who REFUSE to pay $300 for Zelda and a souped up Gamecube (there are quite a few of us, BTW), and will wait til the inevitable drop to at least $149-$199, that should leave more units for some of you who are dying to pick it up ;-)

Now, if casuals truly latch on like they did with the DS, then you may need to do a little more snooping and visit a few more stores, but you'll find one. I for one don't think the Wii will strike it with casuals right out of the gate -- it will take, as it did the DS, a few months to do it, but the Wii should be the DS-console equivalent in time.

You seem like a cool guy. No sarcasm.

Thanks, but "cool" is such a relative word. Fifty-fifty chance I'd disappoint someone on living up to that. Being 'cool' is not cool, yet being uncool is arguably the coolest 'cool', unless you're trying to be 'uncool' (or are just legitimately uncool through and through), which makes you so totally uncool but not consequently 'cool'. Ooh...I think I just broke my brain.

To make this simple, just call your local TRU on the 10th and ask them what's up on the 12th. For the first pre-order I waited overnight for a ps3 but came up # 6 inline and the bastards only had 5 ps3's so out of spite I got a wii and 2 elmos. Ahead of me were 2 losers from canada and 1 from Rochester. Stay in you own city or country damn it! 1 punk showed up at 8am for a wii, everyone laughed at him. So if there ever is another Wii Pre order it should be easy to get as long as you know. Unlike stupid game crazy who found out last friday they had 12 wii pre orders and then sold out that day. I'm very bitter!

Grow up.

Just to clear things up a bit.

Pre-orders are 100% happening on the 12th. Our store received our second batch of pre-sell cards today. Good luck.
Would you happen to know how many pre-orders they'll be taking this time around, since they only took 15 before? Thanks.
Should be right around that number. All the stores that I know of will be taking the same amount of pre-orders they took the first time. So most likely your store will be doing another 15.

We just received ours today too. But honestly, I still doubt there will be a major shortage. I managed to check out our DC's incoming units and divided up over the serviced stores, there are PLENTY to go around. I'm not going to give numbers, but it's more than the 20 or so pre-orders allocated per store.
so come launch day, even the 2nd batch of pre-orders will get theirs, am i right?
correct.
Grow up.
QFT FTW OMG LOLROFLCOPTER

i just wanted to be cool like everyone else.

why not give us the numbers? seems like you're holding out needlessly.

Even if you don't give us exact numbers, is it on par with the rumors that Target stores will get around 60 or since TRU was announced as a "launch partner" are we talking more like 100 or more per store on launch day?

Then we also need to know if these pre-orders that TRU's are taking are they considered part of the store allocation numbers, or are they separate from the "sell through" units the stores will receive?

damn, why cant they do this for PS3.. or 1 lucky person out of the Wii line gets to buy PS3. lol

Although it sounds stupid to go pre-order one; after knowing its gong to be everywhere. I might go get one along check out the TRU credit card deal.

It'll also be good to guarantee that extra one for ebay in case stores only allow one per customer. If Wiiseeker is right, every Target, Walmart & Gamestop will have 30-60.

It is impossible for me to buy a $60 game . . . I can't pay $50 or $40 or even $30 . . . since I became a CAG, that is.

The most I've paid for a game since becoming a CAGer is $15 (a $20 game minus a $5 coupon).

Considering I have about 40 unopened games on hand :) . . . maybe I should wait a year before getting a new system.

I know I will be pissed off at myself later when I look at 4 launch titles and total $200 ($240!!!!) when they are all $10 games in 2 years.

Alright, I guess I'll get a Wii (mostly for my kids) . . . a copy of Zelda will make it a go for me . . . plus I can rent games with my free Blockbuster coupons.

I will not overpay on the PS3 . . . I can wait.

i hears ya... there's 2 camps. hardcore and thrifty. i consider myself on the thrifty side. i'll be one to wait on a price drop than pay full price.

as for the ps3... i'll wait.

So far, for me, the jump up in this generation of systems seems less significant than in the last one. From N64/PS1 to Xbox/GC/PS2, especially with titles like GTA3 and Halo, was a huge jump. Thus far, the jump to 360/PS3/Wii doesn't seem as great . . . IMHO.

I have less of a problem buying the system as I do with the cost of software . . . I know (from experience) that when one gets a new system you'll tend to over buy and waiting for cheap games is tough.

In addition, most of the launch games end up being so-so rush jobs.

Let's see: PS3 plus extra controller and 4 games (in the first 6 weeks) . . . that's likely to run $1000 with taxes. VS. playing games on my old systems for free . . .
So will this be easier than the Oct P-O's?
Assuming each store's allotment is similar or larger than October, I'd imagine it'll likely be easier, yeah...because in a lot of stores, the people who showed up SUPER early to try their hand at getting a PS3 ended up double-dipping with a Wii too or just getting a Wii instead of they were out of PS3 range. Same for some Elmo people. I assume tomorrow will just be Wii people?

Either way, I'm planning to call my store before they close to see what the allotment will be.

This sucks. The nearest TRU closed down. I'd have to drive far.. and early if I want to watch the Chargers Bengals game. And that doesn't guarantee there won't be 15 people ahead of me.

do any of the tru employees know if this is for ALL locations or only some. i called my local store and asked about it, and they said they already sold out of all their preorders weeks ago. i then called another store further away, and they said they are getting 20 units.
I wonder if I can walk by a few hours earlier. I don't think too many people know about this pre order.
Don't be surprise that they know I did the same in assuming that no one knew but then there were 15 people already on line at TRU

Last time the presale was featured on digg, fatwallet, and it may have even made some news sites - I forget all of the places, but I know I saw it at a few different locations well before the actual date. Plus, it was also TMX, which people are going nuts for, and PS3, which has an even more hardcore (read: willing to wait days in the cold) crowd. This time, it's only the Wii, and I haven't seen anything about it anywhere but here. Most people were probably like I was at first and blew this off as bullshit.
so is it confirmed yet that if u make it on to this pre-order list that u'll receive a wii at launch?
Every TRU was always getting more units than that first batch of pre-orders, and they'll get more than this second batch, too. So yeah, it appears that every pre-order will be honored.

so that means theres going some left for the first come first serve people correct?

What do you guys think I should Do? I have Pre-Ordered the Wii on amazon.com and will 99% chance get it on Tuesday. Should I PO one at TRU & cancel the amazon?

I would, you should be able to pick a preorder up with ease at TRU. This deal came out of now where, but than again this is not EB, it's TRU. Just call before you go to see how many they are getting.
