I have to staunchly disagree with this.. it is extremely divisive, unlike most HBO shows.

Another vote for not a blind buy, probably a good idea to rent the first disc or watch a few episodes by "other means" to see if it is something you are interested in, but that is a great price for those who have seen it previously and enjoy it.

I think what he means is that the vampires don't sparkle like in Twilight, and that that makes him a sad panda.

i like the show, but a friend put it best, vampire porn, if that doesnt sound appealing you probably wont like...
 
It is a very quirky and highly stylized show, it has its own brand of dialogue and pacing... I'd liken it to Quentin Tarantino's films, it will either be right on your wavelength and you'll adore it, or you just won't get it at all. I love the show but would honestly hesitate to recommend a blind buy.
