A while ago I was at a yard sale run essentially by 2 small boys. I was looking around, when a GBA caught my eye. Along with a copy of Super Mario 64, and Super Mario Advance 2. I dare you to guess how much I payed for each of them. Go on. Guess. Please. I beg you. You can't guess, huh? Well, I'll tell you. I walked out of there, having payed:

$3.00 for SM64,

$3.00 for SMA2,

and $3.00 for the GBA.

Please, beat me on this, I'm looking for someone who can, and have so far found none. I feel I have in some small way stolen from this child. But it feels so good.

Long agon and before I became a member of this site, I picked up at a garage sale for N64 all $3, Diddy Kong racing, Banjo Kazoo, Mario Party 1, Yoshi Sttory, Cuisin USA, and Turok Rage Wars, so I think I beat you in terms of N64 stuff but does this competitiion really matter?

I don't have any pics, but last summer I stopped at a yard sale and found:

Atari 2600 *MINT* (They had kept it inside a box, with all the hookups)
20 games (No duplicates)
2 joystick controllers
2 paddle controllers
Manuals for over half the games in excellent condition

All for $10! :D

Oh, why would you screw some kids out of thier GBA, sure maybe games, but the system itself! How can you be proud of yourself?

Last year i bought a Nes with 2 light guns, 5 controllers, a gold link, + several other games, fish tank and a record player cabinet which i put my systems in. I asked the lady how much, with the fish tank in my hands.. and she said 35 cents. Then I said how much for the nes, and she said no 35 cents for all of it :). A few days later I had my older nes stolen.

I let my GF borrow my nes, and when her roommate moved out, she took it thinking it was hers. And she would not give it back, so I went into her house and jacked this phone she just
bought in the box and returned it for 50.

Note- that she had 500 dollars sitting out for rent money... and altough I was tempted... I didnt..altough thinking about it now maybe i shoulda :)

About 5 years ago I found a MIB copy of Zelda for NES for $5 at a garage sale and like 2 years ago I picked up a NES Deluxe Set (w/ROB) in box for $35.

I've gotten plenty of other decent deals n' such but those are the best ones I can think of right now.

What are you, ten years old ?

I got a great deal, beat me, ha ha, I know I cheated this kid, but I don't care.

And people wonder what's wrong wth the world today...
Oh, why would you screw some kids out of thier GBA, sure maybe games, but the system itself! How can you be proud of yourself?
Because I'm an evil, vile young man who only cares for himself. There, I said it.

In response to the bit about the Atari, I got ya beat on that one, too. I got the system, a case, 2 controllers, about 8 games, and a game case, with a few manuals, for a buck. You may now kneel before me.

I also have theeternal almost beat. I got 2 controllers, a bunch of wires, and about 29 games for Genesis, for 25 cents. I had to pay 3 bucks for the system, though.

In response to the question, "Does this contest really matter?" I shall only say, "Yes. It matters more than anything. Ever."

Gee, this is certainly a warm welcome. I'm registered CAG number 19,998. Nice to meet you, too. You this friendly to the other 19,995 ones besides yourselves and however many more there are now? Yeah, I'm full of myself, but I'm only being egocentric as a joke, ya see. See, these God flarmed machines can't express emotion, so when I'm being sarcastic, I come off as a jerk. Now, in any case, I made this thread not to be overly showy (though by the looks of things I did a pretty damned good job of that), but as a "competitive" Yard Sale thread, notice, in the topic, it says, "Yard sales?" And notice the name of the forum, "Bragging rights?" It seems you've looked beyond the general topic of the thread to point out my admittedly shallow jest. Now we've all had a good laugh at my expense. What have you found at yard sales worth actually getting on-topic for?

Yeah dude thats fucked up, there just little kids. I donno I guess my best yard sale find was a everlast punching bag for 12 bucks but for video game wise i guess intellivison with 8 boxed games for 3 bucks.

Alright, it was a lousy thing to do. They will learn, it's part of life. Seriously, though, it's called "Cheap Ass Gamer," I wonder what the outcome of a poll would be asking just what "Cheap Ass" means. It obviously implies "Thankful for a deal," but does it also imply, "Will do anything for a deal?" It's kind of an analogy for something, I dunno, "Is borderline cheating someone acceptable for a great gain?" That's what they wanted for it, anyway, I wasn't gonna haggle with them when I was already getting the best deal of my life. His mom probably bought him an SP anyway, regardless of how much he made from his toy sales.

From a yard sale, For two dollars I bought top loading nes, regular nes, super nintendo( with mouse), Five nes games, zapper gun with all the hookups to the systems low g man, mega man 2 golf, king of the beach, jackel

I win

Damn, I never ever stopped at a yard sale or went to a flea market/swap meet for any video games, ever. After looking at your finds, maybe I really should consider stopping at yard sales for a sniff. Those are some of the nicest finds I've seen. Good job.

BOXED VETRIX for $5 ?

I want to be you !

but getting back to the original poser, I mean, POSTER, it seems to me that a garage sale "competition" really doesn't have ANYTHING to do with you. It has everything to do with the poor schmuck whose selling his stuff for cheap, so I don't understand how one actually has a competition in this type of event.

Yeah for you! You had some good luck, that's about it. Now you can stop being a jerkoff and start becoming a normal person.

You expect a pass on a hard time because you're a noob? Crybaby!

My best so far

In a box at a garage sale:
1 Genesis model 1 (all hookups)
2 Genesis model 2 (all hookups for both)
6 controllers
53 Genesis games, most cart only (only 5 or 6 were sports games)

All for the measily sum of $5.00!!

All the systems worked fine, all the games worked fine (although some needed a lot of cleaning).

Oh yeah! I totally forgot!

I recently picked up a MIB copy of Devil's Crush for TG16 for only $2 at a garage sale!!

I was excited to just FIND the game and then when I asked the price I was ecstatic.

And MAD PROPS on the Vectrex. One of the few consoles I'm lacking.....

im glad someone appreciated the find! most people prolly thought it was a virtual boy game

Who's The Twitch Now?]Alright said:
Well, we can also look at this from the other point of view...

What are two small boys doing running a yard sale? If their parents are dumb enough to let them run a sale unattended, they are screaming to be ripped off.

Also, I've seen a few yard sales where there are some good items up for incredible prices, but I see that these items were most likely stripped from the young children of the selling family. Most times, it's because the family is hurting for money. And sometimes, unfortunately, it's because mom and pop need some more cash to score booze and drugs. So, to the needy sellers, I often give a little more than they ask... and for the sellers looking to get their quick fix, I simply leave the premises.

If you really feel guilty, then why not give the items to a kid who will really love them and use them well.

Those kids were prolly just learning about how to sell stuff and they were happy to actually make a sale and learn the process of it all. Their parents were the ones that lost the money and you know how we were all kids once and did stupid stuff like blow up our toys with fireworks. Now we regret it because we see that stuff on ebay going for big bucks. We all went through it. It's a learning process in life and some kids just go through different stages of what they are into. It's all about the fad at the time. They might have thought that gameboy wasn't "cool" anymore so they wanted to just get rid of it for a few bucks and buy some crack or something that was cooler than "that crappy old gameboy"

Gee, nobody's called me a crybaby since.... 2nd grade! Wow, you must be the most incensitive jerk on the planet, Mr. Mulligan. I congratulate you. Goodtone said it all, we all go through it. That Genesis and all the stuff I got for it? Even in my teenage years I sold it all for less than 10 bucks. I definately should have kept it, but I learned from it. You being a tight wad about the whole thing even after almost everyone else has turned to my side or simply ignored the whole thing makes me wonder, "Why?" Why are you doing this, when it doesn't matter, and when everyone else has actually gotten on-topic? I don't get people like you. You're incensitive and degrading for no reason when everyone else doesn't give a damn. I'm not some evil bully taking valubles from little kids, cause they were extatic to recieve the 9 bucks. I saw it in their faces, and the parents were there, maybe just as happy as the kids that the kids made a sale. What 10-year-old is gonna buy their own GBA? It'd take them until the price dropped to save up enough money. I seriously do not get what you have against me. And yeah, I'm a noob. Here. At another site I'm slowly, but surely getting thousands of posts, and even some of the immature drunken assholes there are nicer than you're being.

Good LORD people... lighten up!

I got you all beat.

I went to a yard sale with my new (at the time) girlfriend 2 years ago. I got an NES with 53 games for $40.

"Big deal" you say?

Included were Tengen (Black Cart) Tetris, a bunch of Contra/Zelda, etc., and of course, the mighty Stadium Events.

Sold the Stadium Events in the neighborhood of $300 a few weeks later.

I also have a friend who found a Top-Loader mint in the box at a sale for $10. The people who bought it got it for their grand-children when they visited, but they had "grown out of those games anyway" so it just sat there in the box for years.

I once picked up a Tomy Tutor computer/videogame system - mint in box - with cassette drive in box - extra joysticks in box - and nearly a complete library of game carts (including Pooyan!) for $2 ... I sold this badboy for ~$500 on ebay a few years ago. I love a good score. :)

$25 even in a pawn shop
One of the smaller ps1's
Sega Genesis 1 w/15 games (most with box)
Super Nintendo w/20 games (like turtles, both marios, ff3, etc...)
