vs.

Samsung 18" 940MW lcd

im tryin to decide between this and the Samsung 18" 940MW LCD, which is also widescreen, but doesnt have an HDMI input (but does have DVI/Component/S-Video)......the Olevia does have built-in speakers, but from reviews it sounds like the speakers are really cheap in quality

I will mainly be using the lcd TV for gaming on PS3/PS2/Xbox. Im leaning more towards the olevia since it has HDMI input which is perfect for hooking up with the PS3 (if i get the samsung, i would have to use Component to DVI adapter; would that result in worse picture quality on the PS3? )

so which one you guys you think would be better for PS3 gaming? samsung 940MW or the olevia 23"?

any suggestiong would be appreciated!

23" widescreen is really small, but 18" is probably TOO small, so go with the 23" :) I wouldn't let the crappy speakers on the 23" scare you because you can just plug in different speakers and not use the built in ones.

The Samsung is 19", but that aside you could go with either. The samung wouldn't need an adapter (especially not component to DVI), just buy a HDMI - DVI cable. They cost about $10-15. I actually own that Samsung, but if it were me I'd probably get the Olevia, unless you were doing one of 2 things, using a PC on it or using it for standard NTSC TV.

$679.15 and has DVI/S-Video. Buy a 20% off coupon from eBay and you can have an uber gaming experience for about $545.[/quote]So that's the Dell screen I've been hearing so much about.

I was looking to get a replacement LCD screen and had my eyes on a BenQ FP241W. Also a 24" screen, but it runs for $800, but it has an HDMI input as well. (Sorry to thread jack.) Hear anything about that screen? Seems like a good solution for me with my PC and wanting to have my 360 hooked up as well if I want to game on there and I'll still have the HDMI free for a PS3.

There is no image quality loss using DVI or HDMI... HDMI's only advantage is that it carries audio along with video and it has a smaller connector.

A bigger screen is always nicer but if a monitor stretches a 4:3 picture, than that's a problem. While it may not bother some, it would annoy me to no end.
