Turok demo out NOW! Impressions?

I was totally thinking this game would suck before playing the demo.

my expectations were met AND exceeded!

Very disappointing. Can't believe THIS is what they have been working on for so long.

Shooting the flare onto a raptor to make its friends turn on him is kind of cool. But other then that I didn't enjoy anything about this.

I hope the damage you take was decreased for the demo, you seem to be able to live for to long. Those guys were like tanks!

Very shitty. I was going to be buying this game based on Turok 1. (the sequels sucked imo)
But after playing the demo for 5 minutes ....BLEH.. Garbage..The graphics are shit too.

Thank god for the demo.
Saved me some money.

I'll go with the flow here and after several minutes of play I just wanted to stop and play the fifa demo. After 10 minutes I did. Dinosaurs looked cool, but the game stinks of mediocrity. They probably shouldn't have released the demo as it may have cost them sales.
Just as disapointing as Jericho, the game really reminds me of that
Jericho was pretty damn mediocre, but it was nowhere near as bad as this turd. Wow that demo sucked ass.
It still runs better than Orange Box - I'll give them that much.
Not like the Turok demo had anything graphically intensive for it to slowdown.

Is it just me or does Turok move like a sloth? I think I've been playing CoD4 too much when I keep trying to press L3 to have him sprint.

Not like orange box had anything either.
My Radeon 9800xt could run half life 2 at max settings when it came out.
That was 2004.

The Strider battle at the Museum in HL2 and the final battle at HL2 Episode 2 had a shit ton of stuff going on at the same time. The slowdown was expected in those types of areas seeing the shoddy port by the folks from EA.

Nooooooooooooo... I was almost getting hyped about this game. Don't tell me that its bad... I demand a recount.
time to get my dl on... remember playing this before elementary school back in the day on the 64
Cerebral bore FTW.

Yeah it's taking extremely long for me (using an Ethernet cord). I hope you guys are all just expecting too much from this game. I've been looking forward to it.

HORRIBLE game....I felt the controls were not that well laid out, just didn't like the demo at all. I had somewhat high hopes also....oh well.

It is a little worse than I expected, but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as most of you are saying. The action is pretty intense. My only real complaint is the knife is a bit ridiculous and doesn't really require any skill.

A prehistoric setting with vicous dinosaurs that wreck you from absolutely nowhere, enemies that can spot you from across the map and goddamn gang up on you with so much as a cough, horrible camera control, shitty combat with uninteresting weapons, and a muddy washed out palette smeared over last generation's models.

It's the Monster Hunter of FPS!

Turok is by all means a series that should not have as many bad games as it does. You're a savage that roams around killing people/things in a prehistoric land. How is that possible to mess up?

It's funny watching the latest development doc, where the team seems so passionate and full of care, then you download the demo and it is complete rubbish.

That is what confused me. I've been seeing things and reading interviews like that for years so... I guess it is part of marketing? Doesn't seem like anything NEAR what they have been hyping.

I haven't played it yet but damn I can't believe everyone says it sucks. The E3 trailer made it look so badass.

So whats everyones opinion that the game got delayed, because of Unreal Engine or was it because it sucked so bad?

i didnt know a game with dinosaurs and guns could be this bad :(

those are two of my favorite things too...

the game felt bad right when it started i was actually looking forward to this game too.

Am I the ony one that got any enjoyment out of this? Yes the graphics (on my 480i tv) looked only slightly better than a xbox180 game. I wasn't nuts about control layout. And I got stuck at the lagoon, couldn't figure out where to go. But I kind of enjoyed shooting dinosaurs, the mystery of where you were, etc. I will likely pick this up once it hits $20.

Pretty much my opinion.

I didn't think it was terrible, but it wasn't fantastic either.

It's pretty not good, but not as bad as you'd think from reading the comments here. The stealth part was pretty interesting, although I had no idea how hidden I was or if running around would attract attention. It made me want to replay MGS3.

Also seriously, who designed the characters for this? The guy you're with at the beginning looked like a Gears of War reject, and Turok looked like he stumbled out of some Halloween party in the Castro. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

according to OXM, the 360 version was done in October and the rest of the time was working on the PS3 version

Ha! Exactly what I was thinking. The characters here are done poorly compared to the Gears models, especially the faces.

i wonder what was their intention with this game, "making turok more mature and serious". compared to the previous turok they succeeded but compared to the actual state of the art gameplay and graphics its a sad result with much potential.

I personally liked the demo, IMO, it made me fell like I was in the game, due to falling back when a dinosuar attacks you and stuff.
