TV Water Cooler
FWIW, Wikipedia only has info on the first six episodes too, and nothing after it.

From the early 3 line preview of the sixth episode, it's not going to wrap up anything.
Yeah, I noticed the too. I was like, "Ok, so this is the finale, but it doesn't sound/seem like it would be a season finale"

well most spring shows are a litmus test. Take for example both the unit and what about brian from last sping...I am not even sure they had a 6 episode run. Both shows did well enough to warrant a bigger pickup. Why would you want the show to run into the summer, that almost guarantee's that it won't be back. Off the top of my head I don't know of one drama show that isn't reality based that has returned in the past for a 2nd summer run

Psych and Standoff, this year even. ;)

Anybody else see the documentary on the National Geographic Channel 'A Man Among Wolves'? This guy lived a stretch with a pack of captive wolves he raised from pups and became the alpha male.

Definitely reminds you of Grizzly Man in parts.
I might have to bail on this since I missed the first few episodes.
That's what I ended up doing. Watch too much crap as it is anyway. Maybe if they re-air them all over the off season.

psych isn't a major network show it is on usa, and it airs in the summer...i guess you could also have rescue me there as well, but I should have been more specific and said major networks, considering we were talking about fox, I assumed that it was major networks shows

as for standoff, started at the begining of fox's fall run, I don't recall that airing in the summer, unless you consider the possible first episode maybe airing in the last 2 weeks of august....and by last count, I am pretty sure standoff is either dead, or waiting in limbo with no hopes of return. They pulled it mid season, maybe they will finish the run this summer, I hadn't seen anything like that but I really don't look for standoff news. Even if it comes back in the summer, it will still be finishing up its first season.

you should have tried to toss out the 4400 an excellent summer drama, too bad it is not on a major network

i was just listening to the tvguide podcast...I guess there numbers in the first week (3 hours of episodes) weren't the greatest...ok i finally looked up there numbers....they sucked last night Drive (3.3/ 5)...One week earlier, Drive debuted in the time period with a 3.7/ 6.

http://www.tvtracker.com/daily_ratings.php?PHPSESSID=518f52d2220a9c26da1a50839c9bbc11

both hereos and 24 numbers dropped, as they are now 3rd and fourth, behind dancing with stars and the 2 1/2 men/king of queens combo's

Dancing With the Stars, of course, took the 9 p.m. half hour, with a 14.6/21. Combined with the first half hour of another 90-minute edition of The Bachelor: An Officer and a Gentleman (7.1/10), ABC averaged a dominant 10.8/16 in the overnights in the 9 p.m. hour. Next were CBS' Two and a Half Men (8.1/12) and soon-to-conclude The King of Queens (8.7/13), followed by NBC's Heroes (7.8/11), Fox's 24 (6.9/10), and The CW's Girlfriends (2.1/ 3) and The Game (2.2/ 3). Expect Heroes to win the hour among adults 18-49 once the fast nationals are posted. As for The King of Queens, this show has only gotten better with age.

wedding crashers didn't fair so well....it barely edged out the very last night of the black donellys

In series-premiere news, NBC comedy/reality hybrid The Real Wedding Crashers opened at a disappointing (and last-place) 5.0/ 8 in the overnights at 10 p.m. Comparably, retention out of the second half-hour of Heroes (8.1/12 at 9:30 p.m.) was just 62 percent. The final episode in this time period for former occupant The Black Donnellys averaged a 4.0/ 6 on April 2.

I get what you mean now.

From what I've read on Standoff, they were originally going to bring in back in March or April, but decided to hold off until May/June. Not sure if they're going to just finish up the first season and be done or if they're going to make a 2nd season. I think Standoff was still listed as undecided, and not cancelled last time I look.

And with Drive, I hope they don't drop it due to numbers.

too bad about drive, I have enjoyed it so far, but with it going against a behmouth like dancing with the stars, and then how I met your mother, the best they could do is 3rd in the hour...hopefully it can pull in a few more viewers and hopefully be in the prison break range of numbers at 8pm

I really want Drive to succeed as well, and if Fox gives it a shot at a 2nd season, they should put it in 24's spot until January (obviously) and then put it on hiatus, until Prison Break ends its current season. (assuming its starts early as well). Or they could pair it with House, though the Prison Break pairing makes more sense. Though Tuesdays at 8 aren't nearly as crowded.

Exclusive: Fox Cancels Drive

Drive has been impounded.

Multiple sources confirm that Fox has axed the Tim Minear creation after less than three weeks on the air. I'll go out on a limb and say the show's crappy ratings were to blame. House encores will take over its Monday/8 pm timeslot.

There is one piece of good news: I'm hearing the final two unaired Drive eps may get burned off on consecutive Fridays in May.

I do hope the remaining shows get aired

that was fast

it was, but it did have really really bad numbers which is too bad as it was a decent show...It just had a really shitty timeslot to be showing a brand new show with no audience, right before the may sweeps, when other shows are gearing up for major episodes. It had to deal with dancing with the stars and the strong combo of how i met your mother/new adventures of an old christine, and it was leading into a show that is losing viewers very quickly (24). You take all that, and then give the audience 3 hours of a tv show they have no attachment too, and give it to them in 2 days. (for the premiere)

I wish another station would give it a shot, as it had great potential and had been pretty good so far. I hate how reality shows ruin traditional shows. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next 5-10 years, reality shows are 90% of whats on the major networks throughout the week.

Part of me wants(ed) Fox to move it to FX if it didn't fare too well on Fox, and give it a chance with less demand and see how well it could do. Hell even sit it in front of The Shield or another one of the Juggernauts and let it ride its course.

I knew something was up, as my girlfriend was watching that American Idol shit and they had a commercial advertising House as being on a "special night" at 8 pm in front of 24.

The DVR still said Drive was on, but Fox was saying it wasn't... so yea, now I see that it's cancelled.

That fucking blows, it was a decent show too... I never did get around to watching episodes 3 and 4 since I had them DVR'ed, because of reading it was only six episodes and something told me Fox would axe it.

They didn't even give it time to build up steam... at all.

I'm never watching a television show again until it has a) finished a complete first season with no cliffhangers or b) it finished a first season with cliffhangers but a second season is already confirmed.

The show lasted 10 whole days too... that HAS to be a new record on FOX.

I knew I shouldn't get invested in another Fox show. They break my heart too often with the way they handle their shows. They either cancel them too early and/or mess with their time slot and/or fail to advertise them which is the case with shows like Firefly, Futurama, Arrested Development, and Wonderfalls OR they find themselves a hit and absolutely run it into the ground and shove it down your throat as much as possible like 24, Family Guy (which oddly enough was in the first category at one point too...), and American Idol. None of those 3 shows are as good now as they once were either. Mark my words, the second scenario will end up happening with House and Prison Break.

I'm really weary of getting myself involved in any new Fox shows anymore because you just can't tell when they're gonna cancel shit or just drag it out so long that you get tired of it.

the heather grahem show that aired in january, a sorta copy cat of sex in the city, lasted only 1 episodes. I am not sure which network it aired on though

You mean Emily's Reasons Why Not? I think that was on ABC. I coulda sworn it had a few episodes. I watched it cuz I likes her b00bs.

it might have had 2 episodes, but I thought for sure it was cancelled the following day. While I know IMDB isn't always right, it shows that only 1 episode was aired http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460636/episodes

Season 1, Episode 1: Pilot

Original Air Date: 9 January 2006

Season 1, Episode 2: Why Not to Date a Twin

Original Air Date: 2006

Season 1, Episode 3: Why Not to Date Your Gynocologist

Original Air Date: 16 January 2006

Season 1, Episode 4: Why Not to Hire a Cute Male Assistant

Original Air Date: 2006

Season 1, Episode 5: Why Not to Invite Your Vacation Date Home

Original Air Date: 2006

Season 1, Episode 6: Why Not to Cheat on Your Best Friend

Original Air Date: ????

Season 1, Episode 7: Why Not to Look at Bridal Magazines

Original Air Date: 2006

Well, it looks to me like it shows that two episodes aired, Jan. 9th and 16th. But this discussion is irrelevant, since the show sucked and deserved to be axed. Except for the delicious b00bs.

alright alright i did some research...it was cancelled after 1 episode but 2 other shows did air after it was cancelled...sorta like drive and the alleged airing of the last 2 shows on alternate fridays in may.

Anyone else been keeping up with The Black Donnellys on NBC.com? If not, you should be if you enjoyed the show. So far, the episodes have been great.
Even if its not coming back, atleast it gives a bit of closure.

Is Veronica Mars coming back this week for the last 5 episodes? I haven't heard anything other than that if it comes back it will be Veronica at the FBI Academy and probably no other supporting cast members. Whatever - as long as I can get my weekly Kristen Bell fixes I don't care what they do.

tv guide has veronica mars listed as a new show...tv guide description doesn't make it seem that it is her at the fbi academy, but I don't watch the show so I really couldn't tell you....here is the description

Veronica investigates when a restaurant owned by an Arab couple is vandalized and the word “terrorist” is spray painted on their door. Meanwhile, Keith cracks down on bars serving underage customers when a drunk 19-year-old man is hit by a car after leaving a bar near campus; and Logan invites Veronica to a birthday party for Parker.

According to the wiki, the next 5 episodes are stand alone episodes designed to attract new viewers because it is sweeps week.

If Jericho doesn't get a second season, i'm going to be very upset.

I knew it was going to happen, but poor Johnston. He was probably my favorite character on the show. I was really hoping there was a way around his death, but I knew it was gonna happen.

Take it for what it is worth, but the news that scrolls on the bottom of attack of the show stated that battlestar gallatica stars edward james olmos and katiee sackoff have stated that the upcoming season of bsg will be its last
