UFC 2009 Undisputed

For those who are getting submissions, are you using the right stick or mashing the buttons to get it. I'm trying to create a submission specialist, okay I'm trying to play as Shinya Aoki but with how difficult it is for me to get submissions I've turn him into a mauy thai fighter instead. So what is the best way everybody is getting submission wins?

http://www.ufcgamers.com is a great site for technical reference.

To get submissions (and to get out of them), you can either escape technically by spinning the right stick or by brute strength by mashing buttons.

You generally want your own stamina high while your opponent's stamina is low. Technical submissions/escapes are better if you have a high defense skill, just spin the stick fast BUT AT A STEADY PACE. Brute force is if you have a high strength rating.

I am currently 21-9 playing Tues - Thurs. Noticed a lot of people are getting better, making matches a lot more challenging and fun. This game is pure awesomeness!

That's hilarious.

How close were you able to get his hotboy pants?

If only, I had to give him the yellow shorts and leg supports all in yellow. Too bad I they didn't also offer gis, than I would try to make Akiyama with the giant TV guide logo on his back.

have any of guys tried online mode. i like it,but its laggy, and i hate when my opponents leave right before the save data starts. when they do that, you dont get neither fans nor points. The game is also glitchy, but still very good game. and once it froze.
at least my score is 7-1 ranked lightweight with my retired fighter.
BTW, has any of you been able to beat lvl 3 on both techniques?

Just an FYI, trying to start up a league here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=225449

I've actually found that the network is just buggy and everyone who you think is quitting isn't actually doing that.

You'll know the quitters by their record and how they play, but people who are at like .500 probably aren't doing it.

It's not always laggy, but there are matches were it's very noticeable.

Bought UFC 09 at launch, just got to playing it today. Loved the demo, big fan of the game overall.

Currently 6-2 in career mode at LHW. Won 4 straight before losing back to back to Bonnar and Boecsh. Got revenge on Tim two fights later.

Almost beat the all time record for quickest knockout, Bonnar Ko'ed me with a Superman punch 13 seconds into the fight lol

im pissed right now, i knocked a fricking Brock lesnar wanna be in the first 20 seconds of the match, and the guy quitted. So annoying, i could have recieved a lot of points for that knock out and i didnt. Im not mocking brock lesnar, the guy who quitted who was using brock lesnar.
Thats the 6th fight i win and doesnt count. At least no one can escape my submissions know. the only problem is that i get tired after doing it.

You can't. You can max out level 3 on striking and grappling at 150/150 each, but that's it.

i meant beating it. getting at the 150 mark. i was having a hard time doing it, but after a while both become easy.

Ah, okay. Yeah, it just takes a little time. At the end there, I was only leveling up 30 points for each BJJ camp.

I've heard there are some probs with the Online. Mainly disconnects. What problems does this game have online? Any cheap glitch shit atm?

Mostly disconnecting assholes.

There are some exploits, but I haven't seen a lot of people use them and, actually, some of them can be turned around for personal gain if you're smart.

Only only mention one because it's well known. If you get in close enough with a fighter with fast hands, like Rampage, you can body shot repeatedly and it's unrealistically difficult for your opponent to get "unstuck" from you even if they try to block or hit back.

You just have to keep spamming backsteps, blocks, weak strikes, and maybe shots or clinches in to get out of it.

However, most people who use this aren't that bright and do it until they tire themselves out. That makes for an easy submission if you catch a hold of them.

yeah, boxers are pretty annoying. i fought a lot, that as John says, they just punch randomly and wont let you out. and there are others that go away from you, and try to knock you out while running with their $$$gy punch. just learn to step back and kick, or head punch. Its hard at first because of the lag, but eventually you will learn to do it.
Last night i was playing and as soon as round one was over i would get disconnected. it happen twice so i stopped playing.

I play as Rampage but, to be fair, I always go Body-Head or Body-Body-Head. I always try to give the other person a fair chance to block.

That being said, most people don't block the body because it's a complete waste of time against the computer, and against a human opponent you can take a fair amount of damage before it's a serious issue.

I'm getting tired of the one punch knockouts when I am not even close to wore out. It's the only way I have ever lost, the quick ko. I know that happens from time to time, but it seems to happen way to often in this game.

yeah, i havent played online since the day i post last message. everyone seems to use that. or they just go for takedowns and wont let you fight.
i hope theres a patch soon, cause its getting old.

I've still not picked up the full game yet, but I regularly play the demo and I was wondering what your fastest knockout was. I couldn't believe it last night when I got the KO with Chuck over Shogun with literally the first punch thrown. We touched gloves stepped back, side-stepped and a straight left scored the clean KO 8 seconds into the round. It was on easy admittedly, but still . . .

I haven't been able to do a quick knockout, but I've been knocked out in like 10 seconds via flying knee from Anderson Silva. I just kinda...didn't do anything, I had never seen it before and I had no idea what is was going to do or where it was going. So I froze.

Bah, I just got the game and am kind of over it already. I started a career fighter, won my first fight by knockout, and lost the next three fights by knockout in the last 20 seconds of round 3. What sucks is that there was no way I would lose the decision, so I played it safe, stayed away, and blocked constantly in the last minute. All three of those fights had crazy knockouts through my blocks with the computer swinging wildly. Then the next three fights I won by way of clinch knee knockout in the first round after I found that to be the easiest way to win fights.

The game is kind of addicting and knocking people out is fun, but for long term fun, its just not my cup of tea. Kind of sucks because I'm a huge MMA fan.

yeah, i've knocked a few in clich really fast, and i've knocked 2 online with the first puch(superman punch). both quit the game so i got no points, but at least i got the trophy.
