A friend of mine picked up a bunch of the UMD movies today from the Circuit City sale. He's only opened up Hellboy so far, but I was pretty surprised to see that there wasn't at least a Hellboy insert. All that was in there was an advertising insert for other UMD's. It would have been nice to include a little booklet about the movie or at the very least an insert with the cover art and possibly the cast on it.

Not cool at all. Are all the UMD's this way?

I wouldn't be surprised if most of the UMDs are packaged this way.

Then again, I can't figure out why you'd want to stare at such a small screen for 2 hours. It looks great, but i'll stick with my hd tv.

The two I gutted at work (Kill Bill Vol 1 and Pirates of Caribbean) both had one page inserts.

Well, I should hope so since those UMD's are $30 each! That must be what the extra $10 is for.

The UMD's are $12.99 with no special feature/nor chapters. Why would you need an insert? Some DVD's don't even include them.

Dont need any inserts or anything else besides the umd movie, packaged into the case. Dont need to give them anymore reason to feel that they should charge more for them imo.

Some of the UMD's are on sale at CC this week for $12.99. That certainly isn't the MSRP. I guess I was just expecting a little more in the packaging department. It's not a huge deal or anything. It just would have been nice to have something other than an advertisement in there.

Not having chapters is my biggest complaint with UMD movies.

Think about it. The PSP is a portable system right? So how many times are you going to be able and sit through a two-hour movie on a portable system. More than likely, you will watch it for awhile and go on to something else and come back to the movie later.

Then you have to hit the R button 73 times just to get back to the spot you were on. Then when you get there, you will have wasted three or four precious minutes!

I think it probably depends on the company. Kill Bill and Pirates of the Carribean are both Miramax/Buena Vista, while Hellboy is Columbia Tri-Star. Not sure about the Lion's Gate discs coming out soon. We'll see I suppose.

House of Flying Daggers is the same. I don't really care, though. The whole point is portability, so I am not going to be carrying the box with me when I watch the movie.

On another note, at Circuit City, I noticed that the HoFD had a price tag of $19.99 on it, while Kill Bill and PotC had price tags $24.99 and the other movies had tags that said either $14.99 or $15.99 (I can't remember for sure.) My point is that although the sale prices are this week only, even CC's regular prices are about $5 less than the MSRP.

Most DVD's nowadays dont have inserts. It was annoying at first...then i realized other than super-duper special editions (pixar films, criterion...which both come with inserts) i dont even look at them

Kill Bill has chapters, even a chapter selection menu.
how much did u guys get kill bill and pirates for?
those movies MSRP is 29.99.
the other movies MSRP is 19.99.

Hmm. Wal-Mart is charging $14.44 for all movies with the exceptions of: Kill Bill Vol 1 ($25) and Pirates ($25) and house of the flying daggers is $20, which actually isn't too bad if the new releases follow the same suit. But how many companies are gonna keep pumping out PSP movies the same time they come out on DVD normally? and are they gonna follow the $20 price tag? I hope most stick to $14 cause that's pretty attractive for a portable movie, even if it's missing the extras.

I dont have any movies...although maybe I can try with the demo disk, but can't you just go into sleep mode during a movie rather than haveint to restart it every time?

I expect movie price to drop quickly they may try to hang on to a non-sale price of 25 dollars per brand new UMD it's first couple of weeks on the self but eventually I dont see them moving ar all for more that 15 bucks, especially stripped down to being movie only.

I got Kill Bill at Bestbuy for $14.99

Most Bestbuy said that Kill Bill isn't on the $14.99 list but I argued with them by saying the Sunday Ad says so.....and guess what, it works :)

I got kill bill and pirates for 20.98

Where were you able to pick those two up for $20.98 ? The cheapest in a B&M store I could find was $23.98 in Walmart.

I don't see why people want UMD movies....you can get a cheap-ass portable DVD player for almost $100 now, and the screen is bigger than 4" and you don't have to buy UMD....you can use your existing DVD's.

Instead of carrying around 2 electronic devices, let alone one that wouldnt fit in your pocket, you can carry just a few discs and the system and have all your entertainment right there.

Agree

You can play games, movies, photos, songs and even online browsing on your PSP..........all in one :)

To be fair, the only DVD that I have gotten in the last year that didn't have an ad instead of an insert was Kill Bill.

The whole movie industry is full of whores.

Resident Evil Apocalypse did not have an insert. Just a 1 page ad for other movies. Keep the UMD movies coming, so long as they are in the $15-20 price range, and arrive around the same time as the DVD version.

Kudos to any companies that can fit any type of extras on the disc.
