UMD Scratches

What is the easiest way to remove scratches from the hard plastic covering on the bottom of a UMD disk?

the outer plastic case doesnt matter at all, as long as the disc is fine, scratches shouldnt matter on the plastic case,
the reason being the disc is read through the small gap in the plastic case
