UNCONFIRMED RUMOR: Gamestop ONLINE PS3/Wii preorders start 11/1; WalMart 11/11
you should be allowed to buy only what you want, bundling of services are illegal under antitrust/monopoly legislation,
Unfortunately, it's not.
Changed those links to at least direct links.

No fuckWallet redirection money here, OP.
Amen! Boomshackalacka!!!
you should be allowed to buy only what you want, bundling of services are illegal under antitrust/monopoly legislation,
Even if it is, you're not buying a service, you're buying a product and there are other stores you can go to that are not bundling so it's not a monopoly.
EB will have the Hummer PS3 Bundle for around 60K.
I think that's great, it actually raises the chance of me getting a PS3!:applause:
Really? It does that? Let's try it.

Fatwallet.

Wow.
Read post 1, 4, 13, and several others. I know for a fact that I did not type fuckwallet in post 4.

Not interested in pre-ordering a bundle. I can't see why people will spend thousands of dollars on a bundle when half of the stuff they probably do not want.

Can someone elaborate on *why* not to preorder from gamestop?

I am sorry, but I cannot give you a reason. I walked into my Gamestop of choice back in mid-May '05 and preordered my 360 that day. I waited approximately 45 minutes in a line outside the store (which was totally optional and based on my paranoia) for the Midnight Launch on November 22nd and was home by 12:30 A.M. Just a couple weeks ago (or whenever it was), I waited less than three hours outside that same Gamestop for my Wii preorder, and while it's not 'guaranteed', I'm pretty confident they'll get their 'allotted' eight consoles. Two systems in two years at launch for less than four hours of linesitting...that's pretty fucking efficient, no?

Also...I was late to the PS2 preorder game back in 2000 and got on their list anyway at a Gamestop across town. My friend who managed a Toys R Us tipped me off to their preorders a week in advance (my, how times have changed...maybe 20 people there at store open, under their allotment of 32, I think), so I didn't really need the Gamestop preorder, but I kept it for my brother's sake, and The Call came in a couple weeks before Christmas, so 'Ralphie got his Red Rider BB Gun' after all.

Some people got burnt by their stores and now have agendas and vendettas, I guess, but I've had no issues with GS and for B&M preorders, you only get what you want. No preorder system (for systems...ha) is perfect, but I can't think of one that's served me better than Gamestop.

P.S. Due to how smoothly it flowed, I almost forgot...I preordered a DS Lite about a month before release and had absolutely no problem with that, either.

EDIT: Not interested in pre-ordering a bundle. I can't see why people will spend thousands of dollars on a bundle when half of the stuff they probably do not want.

What I find funny about this mentality is how angered the consumer/gamer consensus gets about forced bundles where 99% of the time you don't get overcharged a dime (even if the games/accessories pretty much suck) and yet these same people are 'O.K.' with eBay shysters and paying the same fucking amount for the console alone on eBay (in desperation) that they could've paid for that console in a (questionable) bundle that includes items they can resell to partially recoup the cost! The (Corporate) Man kind of sticking it to you is deplorabe, but some greasy lowlife creating an artificial secondary market on eBay is just peachy. Jesus. I give up on humanity.

Might try Wal-Mart.. if my girlfriend's bro can get me a preorder since he works there. Probably not though.

I'm not depending on my gamestop preorder. I have this feeling that I won't get it from gamestop at #9 priority.

Has anyone verified this date? Or figured out what the bundles might be? I don't have a big problem with bundles, unless the only choice is a bunch of EA sports games or something. Typically it's not the case. I think i got COD2, Kameo and PGR3 with the 360. which i would have bought.

I wasn't aware Walmart was going to do B&M pre-orders. I thought they were one of the stores selling all their stock to the line on launch day???

I expect this garbage on eBay. I don't expect it at a store.

It really doesn't matter to me that a bundle isn't overcharging -- it's forcing me to buy something I don't want. That leaves two options: buy it anyway and sell off the unwanted stuff, or don't buy it.

I've done both. They're both unsatisfying.

Not buying it is frustrating, since it's obviously in stock and right there and would probably be reasonably priced were it not part of a package I had no interest in.

I bought my Gamecube as a bundle on eBay (waaay after release, for a good price) and sold/traded off the parts I didn't want. I actually did very well for my efforts, but that distracted away from enjoying the Cube. I couldn't just play it and what I wanted -- I had to deal with all the stuff I didn't want but got anyway, and the stuff that I didn't get but wanted.

I just want to play my games, not some stupid store's.

The problem is that retail stores make 0 profit on consoles. So if they force you to buy the software with their shitty bundles they can turn a profit.

Pretty crappy thing for us consumers, but pretty smart from a business point of things. Hell, I would make people buy all the old EA ps1 and ps2 titles laying around the store in order to buy a PS3=-)
LMAO...when did Cheapy change the script so that F A T W A L L E T became fuckwallet?
It's called manual editing by a mod.

Nevermind, I misread. I didn't catch that it was Wal-Mart online.
I might just go ahead and preorder this if it starts tonight...
If it's midnight, it'll be tomorrow night.

Walmart did bundles for the 360, but they let you pick which games you wanted. I think that's perfectly reasonable considering they don't make money on the consoles anyway.

They also did no bundles as well. I hoping they do the same thing as 360.

I don't expect anyone here to know for sure, but I was hoping it starts at 12am tonight, or if not, tomorrow night would be just as good. I expect the bundles to start at $1000. That's fine by me, since I need software. I hope someone here can confirm before the so-called online bundles go up.

I hope you are referring to the PS3 and not the Wii, as a $1000 bundle for a $250 system would be insane. It would also net you almost every launch game. lol

Yeah, I was talking about the PS3. I'm not concerned about the Wii, since there will be so many in circulation.

what time zone is the website at? I know that gamestop is based out of Texas, so would it be on Texas time or something else?

Why are people still taking this as fact when I explicitly changed the title to "UNCONFIRMED RUMOR?"

There has been no official word whatsoever. The OP of Fatwallet's main PS3 topic changed the dates back to ?? recently. I apologize for the mistake, but this really needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

HELP! I already have a pre-order at a Gamestop B&M. The limit is one per household. Can I still pre-order an online bundle or would I just be screwing myself over?

People are desperate, friend. Any thread of hope will be clung onto as if it leads to heaven itself.

Okay I want to use my credit card and I've only got five hundred available, I don't want the 20 gb version, could I place an order now though if I make sure I have an availible balance by the shipping date? Because gamestop doesn't charge until it's shipped, can I still place an order as long as I have the money in by the shipping date?

Oh man, I just got an email back from EB/GS customer service:

Dear Sir/Madam/Other:

We are not giving the consumers advance notice of PS3 Pre-Orders online. We have found that having consumers constantly checking our site for the pre-order increases our site traffic and sales. As a matter of fact, can I interest you in pre-ordering Castlevania? It's been on our site for the last two months and it comes with all this free crap.

But seriously, they have an email sign up system that will supposedly notify you when they will be doing pre-orders and their email system has been pretty solid for me in the past.

I'm just wondering how many systems they'll have online for preorder since they did all those presells in store. Will they have any non-preorder available in store for people to camp out?

I think my best bet will be driving to the middle of nowhere walmart around the corner, pretending to be some of the illegal hired help by losing my ability to speak english, and stealing a few PS3s on launch night.

For some reason I think that even though they don't charge you for the money until launch date they check your card when you order to be sure you have enough money in there. I say overdraw your credit line, I mean what's a $40 dollar fee when you could be playing the latest Metal Gear Solid as soon as next year.

Yeah, but I don't know if they'll let me overdraw by that much. I'll at least give it a try.
Yeah, but I don't know if they'll let me overdraw by that much. I'll at least give it a try.
My CC company unfortunately lets me overdraw all I want since they like those $40 dollar fees. it really depends on the company so I would check if I was you.

The pre-order thing they usually just let you know they are doing pre-orders which isn't a big problem since they usually have an unlimited number of games they can request from the manufacturers and the more preorders let them know how many to order.

With this though I think it would be better for them to send advance notice of when preorders would start but I don't think that is going to happen.

I think even more likely the emails might not even correspond with the official time the site will start allowing preorders since people will be checking the site constantly to order the minute they are in the system.

I'm wondering if any places will be getting PS3s that you wouldn't expect, like Kohl's or Conn's... could make for a good place to score one...

There's a Sony outlet around here too...might call there too...

Do you think anyone at Gamestop.com or B&M would care if you already have a preorder in store, but then order off the website? Would that information even be shared?
Do you think anyone at Gamestop.com or B&M would care if you already have a preorder in store, but then order off the website? Would that information even be shared?
If they are being strict about only 1 per househould they might care...

But one I figure there's ways around it... ie diff. CC used or stuff that gets around it online.

plsu the worst I can see them doing is cancelling your second preorder, I wouldn't see them cancelling both unless they want to lose customers like crazy...

And why wouldn't they cancel both?

It's not like they'll have no customers come launch day. People will be camping outside the doors despite that all preorders may have sold out long ago.

In my very humble opinion, greedy folks who order multiple consoles from the same merchant need to get their ***es kicked in for once. ;)

I agree, both orders should be canceled if caught.
fuck this, PS3 on black friday for 400 bucks! LETS DO IT!
I don't think there will be a single PS3 left by then. Or even an hour after launch.

They won't do it for the vindication though, they will do it because they want to sell it to someone who will buy an extra controller and 3 games. The guy who gets scalped on ebay could go to walmart, cc, etc. to get the software and accessories and that's what eb/gs makes money on.
Wal Mart will not do pre-orders. End of discussion, I won't even bother reading the first post.
If you are talking in general terms, you a wrong. I pre-ordered beatmania through Walmart.com. If you are talking specifically about PS3...who knows?

This is like the funniest and dumbest thing I've ever read. Why not just a buy a PS3 next year when there will be plenty available?
