Can someone elaborate on *why* not to preorder from gamestop?
I am sorry, but I cannot give you a reason. I walked into my Gamestop of choice back in mid-May '05 and preordered my 360 that day. I waited approximately 45 minutes in a line outside the store (which was totally optional and based on my paranoia) for the Midnight Launch on November 22nd and was home by 12:30 A.M. Just a couple weeks ago (or whenever it was), I waited less than three hours outside that same Gamestop for my Wii preorder, and while it's not 'guaranteed', I'm pretty confident they'll get their 'allotted' eight consoles. Two systems in two years at launch for less than four hours of linesitting...that's pretty

ing efficient, no?
Also...I was late to the PS2 preorder game back in 2000 and got on their list anyway at a Gamestop across town. My friend who managed a Toys R Us tipped me off to their preorders a week in advance (my, how times have changed...maybe 20 people there at store open, under their allotment of 32, I think), so I didn't really need the Gamestop preorder, but I kept it for my brother's sake, and The Call came in a couple weeks before Christmas, so 'Ralphie got his Red Rider BB Gun' after all.
Some people got burnt by their stores and now have agendas and vendettas, I guess, but I've had no issues with GS and for B&M preorders, you only get what you want. No preorder system (for systems...ha) is perfect, but I can't think of one that's served me better than Gamestop.
P.S. Due to how smoothly it flowed, I almost forgot...I preordered a DS Lite about a month before release and had absolutely no problem with that, either.
EDIT: Not interested in pre-ordering a bundle. I can't see why people will spend thousands of dollars on a bundle when half of the stuff they probably do not want.
What I find funny about this mentality is how angered the consumer/gamer consensus gets about forced bundles where 99% of the time you don't get overcharged a dime (even if the games/accessories pretty much suck) and yet these same people are 'O.K.' with eBay shysters and paying the same

ing amount for the console
alone on eBay (in desperation) that they could've paid for that console in a (questionable) bundle
that includes items they can resell to partially recoup the cost! The (Corporate) Man kind of sticking it to you is deplorabe, but some greasy lowlife creating an artificial secondary market on eBay is just peachy. Jesus. I give up on humanity.
