My friends and I got a kick out of this quiz. It's very quick, and amusing how these types of orgs view/skew prejudice. It leads to interesting discussion.

Post your scores.

How sexist are you really?

My hostile sexism = 3.27. Benevolent is 2.09.

I think this quiz makes Hitch looks slightly more accurate...

Hostile Sexism Score: 3.09
Benevolent Sexism Score: 1.82
Hostile Sexism Score: 2.27
Benevolent Sexism Score: 1.00

EDIT: I have the lowest scores of any straight CAG.
Gtfo, I'm straight bitch.:)

1.45 and 0.55. Really needs a "no fucking opinion, assholes" option. Though I think that that could be interpreted as hostile, so whatever.

Whatever, my 1.45 hostile is gonna beat the shit out of Maul's matching numbers.

Hostile Sexism Score: 0.18
Benevolent Sexism Score: 0.00

Crotch, my good man, I initially agreed with you, but having an even-option/opt-out would fuck up the data by allowing people to opt out. Typically a useful tool (e.g., for "how satisfied are you with your Verizon customer service?" stuff), in this case it provides a far-too easy out for those who are afraid of answering sensitive questions (the kinds of people who wouldn't answer any questions about race so as to avoid being told they're racist). It stinks, since the wording of a few items was a little too wonky for me (the forced reversed/negative statement about saving women during natural disasters was pretty fuckin' ridiculous on a number of levels - bet it probably has the highest reliability/validity of any of the other questions ).

The wording was lousy, so I tried to submit without answering 1 or 2. It wouldn't let me.

Hostile Sexism Score: 0.55
Benevolent Sexism Score: 0.45

One or two were worded rather strangely. Like they wanted you to answer a certain way.

Yeah, the wording was just like that. And I think I answered in a way that represented my belief that women were equals and should be treated as such and it says I'm sexist?! Was it because I think that a man's life does not need a woman to be completely fulfilled?

Hostile Sexism Score: 5.00
Benevolent Sexism Score: 0.18

Okay

Hostile Sexism Score: 4.36
Benevolent Sexism Score: 0.82

That was after I rethought the whole " protection " thing and realized that in the grand scheme of things ( i.e the sake of humanity ), men should protect women.

Poll felt rigged. Not enough detailed questions, too broad/generic.

Some of these sound like they are written by a woman trying to emulate a sexist mindset "of a typical man." Seems like that would skew them from the beginning. "Many women have a quality of purity that few men possess." Seriously?

Others seemingly have little to do with sexism at all. What does true happiness in life have to do with a partner? Or "a woman he adores" ? Does that mean a sexual relationship? Familial? "Puts a man on a tight leash." Ok, so if you're going to make that assumption, you're more or less admitting it's a potential problem, but go on to say this is an issue only the man deals with? I.e., it's all in his head versus being a potentially honest character flaw in you?

"A good woman should be set on a pedestal by her man." What the hell does this even mean? That's potentially good OR bad depending on how you want to slice it. Does this mean loving and respecting her? Does it mean breaking your back backwards to serve all her needs? Does it mean putting yourself below her? What?

"Women, compared to men, tend to have a superior moral sensibility." Oh god. I'm not even going to touch this one.

"Feminists are making entirely reasonable demands of men." Failure to consider the opposite GET.

"Women, as compared to men, tend to have a more refined sense of culture and good taste." Too vague. Food? Clothing? Table manners? Appreciate a chocolate truffle more? Appreciate foreign movies more? This is too big a category to throw under the same umbrella.

Seems to me that this was written for the express interest of finding sexism in men from a woman's point of view, and not having any male perspective present during the writing.

I'm sure someone (cough) is going to write a big long dismissive and condescending reply though. Which I perversely look forward to.

i got to question 1 and just felt "wtf"..

"No matter how accomplished he is, a man is not truly complete as a person unless he has the love of a woman."

depends on the man.. what about gays?

not gonna waste my time on a quiz/poll where i can't even get past the first question
...

Hova? Are you Archie Bunker?
No, I just happen to have a few negative ideas of women. Not that they're inferior, but that they have some innate qualities that I have an aversion to. I have similar feelings for men, just not as strong because I am a man. Yes I am generalizing.

inb4 "your gay"

The questions are mainly setups to get the result they want. Notice how no one on here has gotten a score of being benevolent higher than being volatile?

innate my ass (you can not pun that), i don't think you actually meant that, but if you seriously meant innate you're an idiot

one more to add to my ghey list

No, I'm just kidding. This poll is garbage and you summed up my thoughts that I couldn't sum up properly because I was busy raising my woman high in the sky on a pedestal, who I love more than anything and who if died would make me want to slice myself, above the rising waters of the tsuanmi that recently hit Arizona, because women should be saved before before men because of their heightened sense of culture and good taste.
innate my ass (you can not pun that), i don't think you actually meant that, but if you seriously meant innate you're an idiot
Okay

So you do not believe that both men and women are driven to act in certain ways because of evolution and the physical differences between men and women ( the fact that women can have children )? Please do not say that we were conditioned by evolution, therefore making it not innate ( which would mean that we agree) . Do you believe it is all societal, and/or that it just varies between women?

I believe some of all of that. So maybe I shouldn't have said innate. You could also explain yourself.

there is only evidence of minute cognitive differences between sexes and they mostly deal with endocrine differences, which cause differences that aren't typically associated with personality (e.g. desire/satiety).. the only real innate difference is left/right brain dominance and it's too minor a detail to justify blanket statements for either sex

so yes, i believe behavioral differences between sexes are due almost (99%) exclusively to societal influence

Don't flatter yourself, Toots. I've got all the meth I could ever want in Apache Junction, Strell or no Strell.

My scores:

Hostile Sexism Score: 1.82
Benevolent Sexism Score: 1.64

Now anyone want to explain WTF that means? (good or bad?)

edit: lol, look at the results from Syria!

It means you're sexist in a negative way slightly more than a positive. You'd slightly prefer to think as women as something below you as opposed to roll around a field of flowers with a woman, blowing raspberries on her belly.

IMO, all this quiz illustrates is how each sex takes advantage of their sex to get ahead in life. It fails to explain if or how that's a bad thing though.

Those people with higher (more sexist) scores all tend to think something was the matter with the poll.

Funny how that works.

I remember a girl who got mad that I paid for dinner once.

Christ bitch, it's free food. It's not like I screamed at the waiter "I'M PAYING THIS,BECAUSE THIS WALKING ,TALKING VAGINA CAN NOT. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY SHE'S OUT OF THE HOUSE WITHOUT HAVING THE LAUNDRY DONE!".

To be fair, I have yet to meet a survey that I liked.

I'm convinced that some people here would argue that the fact that women can bear children is based solely on societal influences rather than anatomic differences... ;)

In either case:
Hostile Sexism Score: 3.55
Benevolent Sexism Score: 4.00

I'm more benevolent than hostile! Go team!!! I think my "hostile" score got raised by by answering 0 to any question that mentioned feminism! In either case, this whole thing smells like it was written by a feminist... or a liberal weenie...

heh Yeah. Like the kid who sucks at a game and blames the controller.
And those that didn't are whipped.
No, because some of the questions like "Should you save women first in a fire" or "Put women on a pedestal" I said no and got a 0.45 score.

So, it's more likely those with a HIGH benevolent score are whipped.
So, it's more likely those with a HIGH benevolent score are whipped.
Right. Apparently, thinking of one's duty to be a knight in shining armor, and women as the damsel to be saved, is considered here to not be sexist.

Think about that for a moment.

Goodness myke. A post from you that seemingly champions unquestionably following a test, no matter what it says, assuming it is completely and solidly formulated simply because you sat around for ten minutes trying different answers until you got the presentable score to show off on here?

It's more alarming that you didn't consider such things and refuse to confront them when I'm making it so easy for you to tear apart, since I'm actually quite curious to hear your thoughts.

See? I can play that game too. There's a tangent about being a smug prick but I don't think I can phrase that in a way that would be new to you. :]

The questions I thought were odd were the ones about whether you though a man could be happy without a woman in their life (or a person without a member of the opposite sex).

I don't really see sexism there. From my experience very few people (especially older than say 30) are happy if they don't have a partner (be them male, female, gay or straight). My friends that are single in that age group of both genders are pretty miserable.

Oh, I have been. And I'm willing to start throwing out TAKE THAT and OBJECTION a few times.

You can't tell me this sort of mentality isn't up for debate, and falls to each person individually. An egg placed on a 45 degree edged roof, two sides, and trying to predict which way it's going to fall.
From my experience very few people (especially older than say 30) are happy.
Fixed.

There was an old bit about marriage by random comedian I like. Something about how all of his married friends were trying to get him married off, but would immediately change the subject if he asked if they were happy being married.

"Join us. Get married."

"Are you happy?"

"Err Uhh... Join us. Get married."

Definitely true, some of my married friends are unhappy. But most people I know that are married or in a relationship are happy (at least outwardly) while all the single folks are miserable and whine all the time about being single. *shrugs*
