I'm a big fan of gaming (obviously) and a big fan of saving money on gaming (again, obviously). Sometimes, in order to save money, we must delve into the seedy underworld that is 'pre-owned games.' However, there are some games that come with certain extras and goodies when you buy them new. I took inspiration from dtp11's thread on the GOTY/Platinum Hits/Complete Edition's, which outlines the content that is included on the game disk and which content is a one-time DLC code. If you don't see a specific game on my list, check out dtp11's list to be sure!

Essentially, this thread is designed to inform fellow gamers about the games that are better to buy brand new, for they may contain special DLC out-of-the-box, or an online pass to access future DLC or play the game online. So, without further ado, here's the list!

- Purchasing the 'Limited Edition' at retail gives you certain weapons and vehicles perks at the beginning of the game, but can be unlocked in-game as well

Thank you Princess!

PS3 Dante's Inferno has the "Trials of St. Lucia" code, I think it's just some extra multiplayer levels

Also, I think DA:O's The Stone Prisoner DLC was date-limited, I bought it recently and sold it to a friend, but remember seeing the DLC code had a 2010 date on it. I didn't bother with the code since it was a)expired and b)I had already decided I wasn't going to play it through.

I don't believe the Trials of St. Lucia came packed-in with new copies.

In regards to the DA:O code, I believe there is a date stamped on the package, but some have reported you have been able to redeem for the DLC after it has 'expired' (me being one of them!) At this point, though, you shouldn't be buying Dragon Age: Origins, you should be buying the Ultimate Edition!

one thing I should mention now that JoJo brings it up, this will only include original releases, so 'GotY' or 'Platinum Hits' or re-releases will not be included in this list, as dtp11's list covers those games as well.
