Permission was given for this thread by the creator of The Official Toys R Us Clearance Thread, Jaysapathy, on more than one occasion. This new thread also contains markdowns, not just clearances.

Toys R Us Clearances & Markdowns

- When reporting finds please use this format:

DS – SKN - game name - $19.98 (former price)- $9.98 (current price)

- Please include SKN #'s if possible.
- Dates are when prices were changed by TRU or original/further drops reported by CAG members.
- Note: Games are often price dropped numerous times, i.e. down to $19.98 then to $9.98 & then to $5.00 & then possibly $3. So a game reportedly dropped to $5 may have already sold out weeks earlier.
- Games may not be marked at their current prices. TRU clearances and markdowns are generally nationwide so they should ring up at a clearance/markdown price.
- If you buy a game that later drops in price you can either get an employee to refund you the difference, or if they can’t, then return and rebuy the items.
- sometimes stores will mark their items down sooner than other stores based on sales/inventory.
- Most TRU’s offer store credit for trade-ins, which you must bring to the service area and have ID.
- Do not talk about selling/reselling.
- Do not call TRU and ask about clearances.

That's it? Sounds like you got taken at TRU. SR2 just came out this year, why are you only getting $8.75?

The regular price for the game now is $29.99 I believe. The trade in value at Gamestop is 8 as well. TRU trade in prices seem comparable to Gamestop. Which works for me since I have kids and buy lots of stuff from them as well.

I picked up PES 2008 for 360 for $5 at the Athens tru. They also had the trade-in program with quite a few games already traded in. I also saw Eye of Judgment with the camera for $19.99 at the store. Is that the normal price for the game?

Hm, for some reason it seemed too low to be true, but I suppose it may be as trade-in values for most games are abysmal.

I don't know if you do a lot of trading, but most times I get a good TIV with estarland.com. Saints Row 2 PS3's TIV is $15.00 credit. You could probably check them out next time.
 
i took the responsibility of starting the sears thread because i felt like the other guy that started it didnt really do justice (he basically put a link on the first post). this was 2 years ago now. me and other cags at that time felt like it needed a fresh start, and the OP for the other sears thread also agreed and thus i went ahread and re-did the entire thread.

i hope i explained that well enough for you to understand J7. you took over the clearance thread out of rage. you literally took their advice and started your own thread. as someone pointed out, 2 clearance threads of the same store cannot exist. let me explain to you why:

1) people do report their finds and they report them through the official thread that jaysaphaty started. the obvious reason why we have an official thread is that we condense all the reported finds into 1 giant thread and thus saving us from commenting on several other threads and saving us time from clicking and reading through individual threads. your so-called UNOFFICIAL thread complicates this and will create problems and conflict later on.

2) back to your issue with the official thread: official threads are time consuming. it took me 3 hours to do the first format of the sears thread. its takes about 30mins-1hour going through the threads to make sure i get every single time i want to do an op update. i usually did this every week but its too hard to do when there's other things that i should be doing instead. we all have our lives too and its not like we get paid to do this shit. this is voluntary work and you should try to get that into your head.

3) shrike had mention this but i think he missed out on one thing: unless jaysapathy decided he does not want to run the other thread, your thread shouldn't exist at all.

if your logic is correct, then everyone should start their own unofficial thread. i dont have anything against you, i dont know you, but you seem to have taken this WAY TOO FAR.
 
Thanks to this thread I scored a Resistance 2 CE today, lol. Wouldn't have checked other ToysRus (missed one after passing on it for $30) if not for this thread.

I like this one better than the older one.
 
J7 created this thread when jaysapathy failed to update his thread. Sure his is "Official" right now, but jaysapathy may fail to update it in the future, like he did in the past. How do you guys think J7 got this idea to make his own? Jaysapathy suddenly started to update his when talks of a new one were spoken.

However, I feel J7 has already proven to the rest of us CAGs that he is dedicated to this thread, and ultimately that's what we need in an OP. Not an "Official" status or the one with the most views. The one with the most dedication and maintenance towards clearence of TRU games.

If we don't make the switch now, we are only going to have to do it later. I don't know either of you two OP's in real life, and I don't have ANYTHING personal against jaysapathy, it just seems like J7 is taking some sort of initiative with this thread.

That's my 2 cents if anyone cares.

even if he's proven hes worthy of this what J7 is disrespectful to both jaysapathy and to all cags in general. like i said, he started the thread out of rage and not because he wanted to be better than the other op. even if hes better at this, this is not how you should set an example.

if he really want to do an official thread, ask the op if he wanted to step down and pass the torch to someone like him and ask him nicely.
 
All I want is whomever creates an "official thread"....there should be mandatory updating....Tpys R Us, Sears, and the Target threads needed updating IMO...should be updated weekly.

But seriously, he did it because he was irritated that nothing was being accomplished with the current OP and the lack of updates.
 
Since everyone else seems to be chiming in on this, I've decided I'm going to also. First, I appreciate the efforts of both thread creators. Second, I understand that the Mods have to keep this under control. Third, why does it have to be an all or nothing situation? Why can't the two thread creators collectively maintain one thread?

Look, there was an open invitation for anyone to do a better job with the thread to do it. The way I see it that was either bullsh## lip service (which shouldn't be coming from someone maintaining an important thread) or a legitimate effort to address some of the concerns that people were having with how the thread was being maintained.

CAG cannot be anyone's entire life or consume all of anyone's free time - hell it's Cheapy's site and he openly admits that he's not that involved with the discussions/posts in the forums. That said, for a period of time someone was doing the best he could to maintain the thread. That may not have been good enough for everyone BUT he was certainly trying to be helpful. Then someone else tried to address the criticisms of the original thread. Again he was trying to be helpful. So why can't the two CAGs how both had the best of intentions work together rather than compete with each other. Who care's if the newer format looks better - is maintaining a thread really a competition??? I always thought it was an attempt to contribute to the site? If two people want to do that, they should do it together because that will be the most helpful and informative for everyone!

Sorry to be so longwinded, but even as an attorney this silly argumentation about which thread was better seemed silly. So in summary, thanks to both thread creators and why not try working together fellas? Those of us who have been here a few years would certainly appreciate it.

i feel like this should be a standard though not really necessarily. but the op should do it as they feel necessary. since sears doesnt really have much of the same game, once they go on clearance theres really about 4 people max that will benefit from that drop because they seem to just have at least 4 of the same game.

if people cannot read through the threads and all they have is 5 minutes of read time, i dont think thats any of our concern or our problem to begin with. they should take a little time to read through 1 or 2 pages at least.

Moving on to the actual point of the thread. I couldn't find a copy of MLB Power Pros '08 for the DS in my store, but it wasn't from lack of trying. The DS area was an absolute disaster.

I have been trying to find Drawn to Life for DS for about a month now too. It appears that the game was a big hit when the price dropped because all I can find is the Spongebob one for $30. Considering I don't watch Spongebob and never have, I really have no interest in paying $25 because he is in the game :) I've been to two Toy's R Us so far and have had no luck and had employees at both stores double check for me and the one closest to me I have checked countless times, but it seems it isn't something I will be able to find anyway.

I wish they would have all the games where you could search for them online. Some games they have it, others they don't and I know they aren't very accurate, but at least it would give an idea of where to start.

Anyhow, good luck with finding your game. Hopefully it will show up and surprise you!

If anything, two threads just make more clutter. I also don't believe keep the OP updated is an invitation for other sites to get info easier. They'll always find ways to get the same info around the same time and vice versa.

You guys are really funny. I have a three year old and a wife who was a stay at home mom for two years. So yes, I am intelligent enough to shop for video game deals, as a means of making my money go a little further. I do the same for electronics, food, etc. Having children puts blowing your disposable income into an entirely new perspective.
 
As far as having an updated OP. If you check it often enough you will have the values before anyone on other deal sites and anyone who may find the stuff in the store while browsing. It's the same type of "working" to keep up with the last few pages in a thread, but this way it will save you time.

You do not know my motives or what I am thinking. I did not create this out of rage. I created this because the OP in the other thread was rude when I (& others) had any questions and would not answer them and he did a shitty job maintaining the thread. I did it to show how much better it should be, regardless of who does it. I had been wanting to get that thread fixed up for 1-2 months. Rage may have played a part, but it was much less than the other reasons.

Not referring to you here. What is worst than what I or jaysapathy did is the people who talk shit when they have little idea what happened and those who talk shit in multiple threads and lie and try to make me into an asshole or crybaby, when they're the ones doing it far more than me or jaysapathy. I don't have to name names.
 
I don't care anymore. Do whatever the fuck you want. It will be a long time, if ever, that I create a detailed thread again for CAG. Thanks to those who talked shit for their own benefit instead of for reason.

Anyone who wants access to the list I created in the future, send me PM. If you weren't a fucking asshole I will send it to you. If you were, have fun with jaysapathy's thread.

If this thread does stay. I will continue to update it for CAG. If it does not I may keep an updated list that can be PM'd.
