Upcoming releases not exciting you anymore?

CAGiversary!
Remember when you would read a gaming mag or go to a website and see a game, be it sequel or new idea, and literally cream your pants with anticipation? Where has that feeling gone for me? I was hyped about Suikoden IV coming out, and maybe the PSP too, but otherwise, it's like I don't care anymore... maybe it's the cheapass in me but I start to wait and wait for the imminent price drops to $19.99 or lower on new stuff... a year ago, you say Xenosaga II, and I'd be all over it... now I'm sort of meh, ok... god forbid, am I losing interest in gaming itself? Anyone else sort of feel 'burned out' (pun not intentional) by the industry as a whole right now?

I'm burned out in general, last season was crazy. Halo 2, GTA:SA, MGS3, Fable, Halo 2, Half-Life 2, Metroid Prime 2, Viewtiful Joe 2, Paper Mario.. good god almighty.

I'm glad there's a "good game" drought.. example, let's look at upcoming releases.

Gamecube:
Starfox Assault - meh.
Killer 7 - Looks like crap
Zelda - Hell yes.

XBox:
Forza - slightly interested
Doom - Very interested, especially Doom/Doom 2 with multiplayer..
Wrestlemania XXI - Seems interesting..
Star Wars: Republic Commando - Eh.
Super Monkey Ball - Woohoo!
Unreal Championship 2 - YAY!
Jade Empire - Will get it, not looking forward to it..

PS2:
Tekken 5: Oh boy, another fighter to clog the bargain bins!
Devil May Cry 3 - Dante rules so hard.
GT4 - No online mode? Who cares anymore.

Then there's a few multisystem games on the way, like Splinter Cell, Midnight Club, and a few others. Yay for droughts, we need one. The only thing above that i'm really hyped for is Zelda.

I've never "literally creamed my pants" for anything, let alone a video game. But yeah, I've noticed that I've even started waiting for A+ titles to go on sale before I pick them up: it's just too hard to spend $50 on a game any more when you know it'll drop to $20-30 within 4 months.

You should see a urologist about that pants thing.

I agree. Even if it's something I'm looking forward to (Kingdom Hearts II), I'm going to have a hard time buying it for $50. I hope for sales if I must have it.

It seems the only thing I'm excited about is the new Zelda. I'm probably also going to pick up FFXII when it comes out but its not something I'm really anticipating.

With not so much anticipation this year, it's a load off actually. In '04 I've made more preorders than I'd thought and buying games here and there (thanks to CAG all well worth it) and now '05 there's a lot coming out I suppose, but it wasn't like last year; nothing seems to interest me. Maybe '04 just poof me out with all the games and I still have yet to play them =T.

The only games I'm really looking foward to is KH2, Zelda, and Fire Emblem. And with these in the possibility SC:Ghost, Black, and some other Katamary-like games. Maybe even more if little things pop up here and there (like how Katamary did for me).

The portables, consoles now, and with the next-generation coming up, it's good to take a breather in a way. The DS and PSP, I've thought I would get the DS, but my brother already has it and I play it when I'm bored. Now the next-gen coming, maybe going to load up on that.

I don't think it's a loss in gaming, I'd say you're more relaxed or something. For me, I'm just content with whatever coming out, it's out and I'll buy it later when it's cheap.

I had a lot of anticipation in '04, but most of them ended in disappointment.

And anyone who "creams their pants" over a game really needs to reevaluate their life.

Burned out? No way... Dragon Quest 8, Kingdom Hearts 2, Zelda, Final Fantasy XII, Ys 6, Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2, Wild ARMs: Alter Code F, Phantom Kingdom, Castlevania DS & Curse of Darkness, Mother 3, Mario 128... *passes out from sensory overload*

That, along with the current backlog of games I have now hinders me from really getting excited about any new games that are coming out.

I have a problem being excited because I have too many games to play. I still haven't picked up RE4 or played Paper Mario: TTYD. I am still loking forward to games such as Advent Rising and Starcraft: Ghost though I will probably not buy them right off the bat.

Same here, I bought an Xbox this year and I amassed a big collection really fast collecting cheap games, so I'm forcing myself to be good this year and try to finish off most if not all of my collection, only getting a game if its a great deal.

There aren't a lot of games that I really have a hard time waiting for. GTA:SA was one, but other than that, there are games that look great to me and all, but I'm perfectly willing to wait for the price drops.

The games that I'm looking forward to this year are God of War, Destroy All Humans, Wanda and the Colossus, and DMC 3. Also waiting for price drops on Mercenaries, Jak 3, and R&C:UYA. At least those are the ones that come immediately to mind.

I do think overall the market is flooded with crap product and far and away i dont get as excited as i once did, BUT.........

every once in awhile something like this comes along and it takes hold of my thoughts everyday!! I cant wait to play it! its as if someone hacked into my brain and ripped out my exact subconscious dream of a perfect fantasy world! everything about the look and feel of it just speaks to me.

WANDA AND COLOSSUS for PS2!!

http://games.kikizo.com/news/200410/021.asp

make sure and download the video. they only have 1 at this site, but i have been able to find 4 different ones, they are very much worth your time to find! (and yea, i loved ico)

There are tons of upcoming games I'm really looking forward to, including Jade Empire, Mario Kart DS, Pariah, Kingdom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest VIII, and more. I don't feel "burned out" at all.

I agree with most of you. However I am highly anticipating Wanda and the Colossus. Also, if Rez were to be re-released. I'd be all over it.

I'm only slightly interested in Jade Empire whenever that's supposed to come out.

The only release I've been excited about it was Street Fighter Anniversary Edition for Xbox but they've kept pushing back the date. =/

Kingdom Hearts II is enough reason for me to go on living. I will be either pre-ordering that or plunking down 50$ on it instantly, with no regrets.

Also, the new Zelda looks fantastic too, so i'll probably end up buying that full-price too.

Plus, I have an obligation to buy both the Tim Burton NBC games.

But besides that, yes, I know exactly what you mean. Feel burned out. Now games I'd be more interested in are not as much at all.

Games I'll end up waiting to drop are probably: DMC3, DC3, FFXII, etc.

DC3?? What does that stand for?

While I kinda agree, I still think there are a few titles that deserve a little bit of anticipation:

Xbox:
Forza(not my thing, but it may challenge GT4)
Jade Empire
Conker: Live and Reloaded

GC:
Zelda
Odama
Fire Emblem

PS2:
GT4(again not my thing, but some people love this franchise)
Kingdom Hearts 2
Ys: The Ark of Napishtim
Shinning Tears
Radiata Stories (if they bring it over)
Namco x Capcom (looks interesting to say the least)
DMC3

I'm a little overwhelmed (within 1.5 years I accumulated about 36 Xbox games - some of which I've never played yet), but I'm still looking forward to Republic Commando and Doom 3. Most other titles I can probably wait on. Luckily my birthday's coming up.

I very rarely pay full price for games and either get them on sale or use my free TRU Geoffrey dollars on them so I get them for roughly free. Thank God for this site and you guys to keep me in the know about some good deals.
