I just got my Renegade Edition from Amazon and have a question for those who also got this edition....

Was you carrying case/stand dinged, scratched and/or metal warped? Both the outside shipping box and the outside box were in fairly good condition but the carrying case inside has scratches, dings and the metal is not straight. It seems as though this happened in the factory (even the feet on the bottom are scratched up as if it were placed and slid on the ground. I already have a replacement coming from amazon but wanted to see if others are "damaged" to see if this is isolated or common

Also, were your batteries just loose in the package?

EDIT: Also one of the legs is broken (does not clamp to hold it just slides right out) and the table itself has smudges and a gouge at the bottom so I am thinking this is just an isolated problem.

Replacement Update:
Well my replacement just arrived via Fedex. I was a bit worried when I heard a crash at the door of the delivery lady literally dropping it and the outside shipping packaging and the Game package looked way worse then my original but am pleased to say this one came in WWWWWWWAAAAAYYYYYY better condition. It has one minor scratch on the top left of the case but the rest looks very good. The only difference I notice is that the handle is only metal on my replacement where on my damaged one it has black rubber covering the handle. But thats minor and I would not have known otherwise. So it looks like they may have just had a few bad lots and that its not all of them that are screwed up. Hopefully those seeking replacements will get them in better condition as I did.

I also am the same problem with my renegade edition, my box was in almost perfect condition but when I opened it the case looked like crap as well as the turn table itself. Not sure how to get this fixed.

I got mine from amazon and the lid is bent to the point where it does not stay shut. Did you have to send everything back to get a new case? Do I just call customer support?

Same here, i got mine from gamestop and the case is completely destroyed, and one of the legs where stuck. Also, there are scuff marks the the feet of the legs (the rubber parts) and paint chippings kinda scraped onto the metal, almost seems like they used it before. Today im going to try to exchange it, and mabey they wont give me a bullshit story...

Yea, my batteries also came loose, and did any one else notice an extra slot in the foam where sonething was suppost to go there next to the batteries. a friend told me it was suppose to be for the wireless piece for the ps3 edition, but i dont know...

Return it to where-ever you bought it and exchange it. I just think that a $200 should atleast come in acceptable condition.

My lid also does not line up properly as well. Yes, you have to send the entire thing back to them (but they pay for shipping both ways). They are overnighting me an new one and I will have it on Friday. In the mean time I am playing the one that I have now. Just call customer support and tell them that the case is completely broken and they will send you a pre-paid label and also send you off a new one overnight. You can keeo the one you have until the new arrives and play with it.

Exactly what my girlfriend said. It looks like someone took it and played with it then put it back into the box. Very strange.

Yes the extra spot next to the batteries is for the PS3 dongle (just like guitar hero). I watched a few unboxing videos to see if anyone else it shocked by the quality of there case but all of them are fine (and all of them are PS3 versions).

Thanks for the reply. I bent the lid the best I could and it seems to close much better. I may just keep this one afterall - the metal they used isnt the best and am afraid of getting one even worse than this one.

The case is pretty awesome despite the issue I had, not sure what else I would use that works so well as a stand. Is it worth an extra $80? Hell no. Thank god for ECA and that 50% off promo they ran over the summer.

Mine was just too bad to keep. It was bent, dinged, warped, and 1 leg was broken so I had to send it back. I can deal with some scratches (it will happen eventually) but warping and broken leg (obviously) is not acceptable. Plus its free shipping both ways I just hope the next one comes better than the first. Its not the retailers fault it looks like this its the manufacturer so I feel bad that Amazon has to front the bill but it is what it is.

I agree with you on the quality of the stand. It is not worth $80 but its def. the bast way to play the game. Even with it on the lowest setting its the perfect height for my couch so I can even sit when I play too (Though I want to stand). Also its works great for my SFIV TE Fightstick since I was playing on lap which just sucks. So after I get a fully functioning one I will be happy with my purchase.

BTW I used a 50% off Amazon code, plus 2 ECA's on it so it was cheap for me too.

What the fuck; sounds like a real lack of quality control on Activision's part. And this is supposed to be the Premium edition.

This sounds almost as bad as when I got a RB Precision Bass that was DoA

Surprising, but not surprising, given Activision's track record with plastic instruments. I was a victim of the Les Paul guitars just being broken straight out of the box myself. Are you guys only having problems with the 360 version of this?

mine is pretty much worse then what yall have posted the case is warped and is actually falling apart, you can see the cardboard that they made it out of where the metal and the rest of the case is separating and on top of that my controller does not work and it is all scratched up out of the box i bought it from wal-mart and hopefully i don't have any problem returning it to them and getting the regular edition cause IMHO after getting the renegade its not worth $80 for a cardboard case.

So wait, the DJ case is actually made of cardboard, with a thin sheet of metal covering it?

Mine was the 360 version and it seems like the others are too but I dont know for sure.

I think the overall quality of the case it pretty good (as myself and another cag observed) but no where near worth $80. Luckily I will have my replacement tomorrow and can pick through each of them to hopefully get a full unit that is acceptable (though it is sad to put it that way).
So wait, the DJ case is actually made of cardboard, with a thin sheet of metal covering it?
Well saying its made of cardboard is not exactly the full truth. The bottom has wood in it for stability and the outside is dense cardboard that is surrounded by metal. The clamps and handle are very well made to to hold the package together. The overall build quality is surprisingly very good it just looks like at the factory it was tossed around and that is the result of all the scratches, dents, and warps prior to being placed in the packaging for shipment.
Mine should be delivered today...
Please report back with a description of the quality. Hopefully yours comes in prefect condition *fingers crossed for you*:bouncy:

Whats really bothering me is, why are so many people having this problem? And what the hell is Activision doing that so many people are going threw this problem...

My PS3 DJ Hero Renegade came yesterday. After reading all these posts, I decided to check mine. The shipping box and outside box were in great condition. The metal sides of the case are scratched here and there. Two corners of the case are dinged. The case does close. Both the legs and the turntable look fine. The free batteries were not loose.

I think Activision could have at least prevented the scratches by applying a plastic film on the metal edges of the case. For those who plan to purchase this in store, maybe you should consider opening this bundle in the store so if it is really banged up you can either swap it for another or just not buy it.

I'm wondering if I should contact Amazon customer service and request for a replacement. PLEASE keep posting the condition of your DJ Hero Renegades especially the ones who have asked Amazon for a replacement.

If the scratches and dings are as minimal as you make them seem then you might have actual got a decent one (again I am just going by how you wrote the post). Considering that your case closes properly and your legs are functional and the contents are fine I would consider you lucky.

You can request a replacement by telling them that its damaged and they will send you a new with no questions asked. My replacement is being delivered by Fedex tomorrow before 3:00pm so I have my fingers crossed. I will report back as soon as I get it.

NJMane, thanks for the post. Yeah, the one I got doesn't seem that bad. If the replacements come in MINT condition, then I might contact Amazon. If not, I'll just keep the one I got yesterday. I think it is kinda annoying that Activision sells this for $199, but doesn't make the effort to make sure they ship it out in MINT condition. If I wanted one in used conditon like what other CAGs reported, then I could have waited and saved even more $ by buying it off Craigslist.

returned mine and ended up buying the regular edition at target, boy was that a mistake the paints all coming off of the turntable and it is having the same button issues as the last does anyone know if target will take it back i don't feel like my $120 are paying off right now and i don't want another one

My PS3 DJ Hero Renegade replacement arrived recently. The case is in better condition than the first one I received, but the outside box is in worst shape. I'll be keeping the replacement.

evening all - I am also having issues with the renegade edition - please comment on
faultydjhero.blogspot.com - this appears to be a global build quality issue.
