UPDATE:
STARTS-7/2
WILL LAST A FEW WEEKS!
Gamerush and BBV will be having a huge gaming sale.
All games, as long as they're in BBV's system wil have a minimum trade-in value of 13 dollars!
Even crap like Madden 2001 will trade in for 13 bucks.
Also, LOTS OF games will be on sale.

This is what the manager of my local store told me.

wouldnt telling people about trading in games for 13$ get possibly more titles in store to buy? wouldnt it be beneficial to tell people? get more titles traded in. im down for not putting it ont the other site, but is it cause there are gonna be massivly reduced prices?

thanks for this awesome tip!! lets keep this one off rfd please! also just wanted to ask, can you trade in Gameboy Advance GBA games for this as well? does BBV take old consoles liek Gameboy COlour COnsoles and and Gameboy COlour games tooo?

also ~ is the game sales only for blockbusters with game rush or ALL blockbusters even without game rush, cuz i checked their online store locator and its like some stores have the game rush (checkmark) and some dont
okay we DEFINITELY need more information on this, unfortunately the vancouver locations don't do trade in's though
Yeah, you gotta go out of your way. I go to one "near" metrotown. Get off at Metrotown station and then New Westminister Stn bus until I see BBV =/

You have a link to this?
^^^^^^^^^(#*$&6*(#^%*(%(*$#%*$&%(*$#&?????????????

Or is this just a verbal-to-verbal advertising?

Anybody know if they take games without manuals? I bought a used copy of Manhunt from them before and it didn't have one.

I probably won't be taking advantage of this since I don't like trading in my games =P I've just gone there for my Trade 3 for Free (WarioWare) and Trade 4 +$10 for Halo 3: CE.

thanks gamer!

i wonder if this will work for the trade 4 for Halo 3 deal?

yeah its a good idea not to port this deal over to RFD!

majongguy (whatever his name is?) will be all over this!!

i bet he will be posting non stop if he saw this!

i don't like putting game deals on there anymore because it will just add another 100 posts to his massive post count.

Funny I was just in Blockbuster after dinner tonight to trade in Crackdown ($30 vs $13 at EBG) and was browsing through the $2/30 (19.99 or less). I couldn't find anything and the guy asked me if I was looking for anything particular, and I said a better deal! He told me there's going to be a big deal going on soon, but he said not this weekend (?) and that there would be games going directly to sale as PPV, older games but new and some good prices. So I said thanks and said I'd be back... I guess I'll swing by this weekend after all in case he had his dates mixed up. Does sound like Blockbuster is up to something for us Canadian CAGs! :)

Definitely going to stop by the Rogers nearest my work as I'm working on both the 1st and the 2nd (stupid RONA). Hopefully this will actually be true and I'll get some credit to put towards Madden 08.
anyone know if the games require manuals or not?
I'm still waiting for that same answer myself.

im gonna pull an rfd."why dont you pick up the phone and call blockbuster!!"

seriously though, they shouldnt care if it has the manual or not. I just asked the girl at customer service 2 days ago, and she reasured me, if anyone says they arnt taking them, tell them yes you are. She said, they sell their own rentals and 90% of the manuals get lost within 2 weeks of release. obviously she was exagerrating, but ive done trade without manuals, and will trade some more. maybe they might end up having some fine print for this sale specifically stating that game needs manual to get 13$ credit, but I doubt it.

So final word, no the manual is not required. straight from customer service. hopes this helps guys.

and on the mjm troll subject. he does post every second, and 90% of the time its post whoring, he still does contribute. Some people have free time(and if I had more time, id be on rfd all the time. How many videogame deals are found through this).

Just dont try to strike up a conversation with him or become friendly. You do that, and he gets all defensive and rude. He feels its ok to ask anyone anything trivial for his own knowledge, but not the reverse. he quoted something I said and was a little rude about it. I thought, i could get angry, or be the bigger man, and clear the air. I post in the thread again nicely and asked about a sale I had missed, just curious to see what other people had been able to get. And asked him what he got.
For someone who replied and quoted to like 100 things i posted, the 1 time i respond to him, and hes very rude to me. His rude responses involved "why dont you read through the 100+ page thread if your curious what others got, but why do you care what i got, get a life" and basically "dont post useless stuff". Me posting useless stuff? and isnt it some sort of rule on some sites to not bump threads pointlessly, especially if you just posted the last three posts, and adding a forth? dont people edit, when its still the last post in thread?

I agree with chimp69. 90% of MJM's posts are useless rhetoric. 10% are useful information: for instance, he'll say whether this product's been cheaper before.

And don't ever poke fun at him. Most of the time he'll laugh it off, but sometimes he'll be rude and stand-offish.

Interesting... this could be a good way to build up credit at BBV by taking advantage of RV's BOGO sale. I know of one RV where there are disc-only games for $4.99 and are eligible for BOGO. You're essentially getting $10 extra credit for every game you buy there.

Of course, the restriction "has to be in the system" is a downer of sorts, especially if you've got some rare games.

IIRC the Richmond BBV does trade-ins as well.

I wonder what EBG's July promotion will be.

If you have rare games, you should keep it.

No one in their right mind would trade, say, a copy of Earthbound for meagre store credit (I know the BBV deal doesn't accept old platforms, but I am just using an example).

i called bbv 5 minutes ago and all i got was "yes there will be a promotion"...when i asked more specifics i got a rude "call back on monday"

Just called my local store with a Game Rush (Meadowvale Town Centre in Mississauga) and the guy said he has no idea, and he asked other employees (unless he just put me on hold to make me think that he was doing so). I'm going to try another store and see what comes up.

Don't count on employees knowing about their own promotions until the day of.

And as for MJM, might I ask why that has been such a big topic here? I mean he doesn't even post on this board anyway, why should we care? Yes I know he has a high post count and that post count happens to be on another board. So can we please stick to the topic at hand?

By "rare" I meant "obscure" and "no one ever plays it". For instance: most kiddy games based on cartoons.

EDIT: we mention MJM because he is synonymous with RFD video game deals. We want to keep these threads away from RFD, because of all the lurkers/hoarders, and because MJM will litter the thread with mostly useless posts.

That's pretty true. The last two times we had a big sale at RONA, I kept having customers coming in and not asking me, but telling me that we were going to have "such and such" sale over the weekend.
Almost busted a nut, until I noticed this was only for you CANADIANS!
well we never got those $5-8 clearance sales over here, i think this about evens it out ;)

funny how his local bbv told him about the sale, and hes in vancouver. apparently there is a law(im sure we even discussed this) that forbids trade in in vancouver. gotta go to like burnaby or another suburb I was told. no one knows of this deal, and I think it might be bs?

From what I've seen of his posts he doesn't actually live in Vancouver, he's out in Delta or something (not that I'm stalking you guys...).

here is an odd one, my BBV is taking any four 360 games for the trade 4 for halo deal. Doesnt matter what the TIV is as along as they are complete. Games for other systems must have a minimum TIV of 14.99. This was from the store manager. This is the Langford BBV next to Boston Pizza

Kameo + PGR3 ftw! :D

gamer602 lives in burnaby, which is why his blockbusters are allowed trade-in, they're paired with gamerush over there i believe, none of the vancouver locations will do trade in's according to the employee at the main and 15th store

So I'll be calling today to find out whats really up (although I hope its like this, I'll even take $8 trade-in, I have like 6 old sports games :D )

I am planning to buy cheap games using my EBGames credit (about 95$ in credit over there) in order to trade them in at BBV.

If BBV does not have the game in their system... is there a way to return the game to EB (considering I will leave the «seal» they put on used games)?

I read recently on a page at the cash registrer over there that they changed their return policy... but I didn't get into details.

Blockbusters in the Winnipeg area also aren't doing this deal as well. No one seems to have heard of it.

Followed up on that Halo Trade 4 deal, which sounded like a waste of time at first (with EB doing the same thing with Trade 3). Works almost the same way: games have to be worth at least $7.50 to them, but can trade in ANY 4 from 360/Wii/PS3 towards it.

Like heck anyone will trade in that many Wii or PS3 games, but if you've got access to some cheap copies of The Outfit, Xbox Live Arcade, GRAW, heck maybe even the Burger King games (haha), these might all work!
