Currently, this is ONLY posted on CAG-DO NOT PORT IT OVER TO RFD!

UPDATE:
STARTS-7/2
WILL LAST A FEW WEEKS!
Gamerush and BBV will be having a huge gaming sale.
All games, as long as they're in BBV's system wil have a minimum trade-in value of 13 dollars!
Even crap like Madden 2001 will trade in for 13 bucks.
Also, LOTS OF games will be on sale.

This is what the manager of my local store told me.

The deal starts on the 9th, and is ONLY on games that are NOT on their "Do Not Trade" list.

Madden 2001 is on the do not trade list.

Hold on a second, what do you mean by minium 13?

I called my local Blockbuster in Burnaby, and they informed me that the $13 trade in value only applies to Wii/X360/PS3 games.

Crap. Although I guess its expected. I only have a couple 360 games to ditch, lots of GC/PS2 though.

Ultimate weak sauce.

So wait, the OP was updated and nothing really changed,
so whats going on with this deal?
It can either be:
1. AMAZING
2. Great
3. Weak Sauce
im gonna pull an rfd."why dont you pick up the phone and call blockbuster!!"

seriously though, they shouldnt care if it has the manual or not. I just asked the girl at customer service 2 days ago, and she reasured me, if anyone says they arnt taking them, tell them yes you are. She said, they sell their own rentals and 90% of the manuals get lost within 2 weeks of release. obviously she was exagerrating, but ive done trade without manuals, and will trade some more. maybe they might end up having some fine print for this sale specifically stating that game needs manual to get 13$ credit, but I doubt it.

So final word, no the manual is not required. straight from customer service. hopes this helps guys.

and on the mjm troll subject. he does post every second, and 90% of the time its post whoring, he still does contribute. Some people have free time(and if I had more time, id be on rfd all the time. How many videogame deals are found through this).

Just dont try to strike up a conversation with him or become friendly. You do that, and he gets all defensive and rude. He feels its ok to ask anyone anything trivial for his own knowledge, but not the reverse. he quoted something I said and was a little rude about it. I thought, i could get angry, or be the bigger man, and clear the air. I post in the thread again nicely and asked about a sale I had missed, just curious to see what other people had been able to get. And asked him what he got.
For someone who replied and quoted to like 100 things i posted, the 1 time i respond to him, and hes very rude to me. His rude responses involved "why dont you read through the 100+ page thread if your curious what others got, but why do you care what i got, get a life" and basically "dont post useless stuff". Me posting useless stuff? and isnt it some sort of rule on some sites to not bump threads pointlessly, especially if you just posted the last three posts, and adding a forth? dont people edit, when its still the last post in thread?
this "thing" does really get defensive!

if you say something about him, for sure he will think of some sort of comeback to get back at you.

he did that to you in this post Chimp, i agree with Chimp that he restates everything everyone states. now he might win a prize on RFD for being a helpful poster!

Can anybody tell me if Blockbuster applies trade credit to purchases before, or after tax?

I recently traded in some games, and asked the guy behind the counter, and he replied that it was "before tax". Then when I used my $198 credit to buy a $200 HDDVD drive, I ended up paying something like $26 dollars in taxes and price difference. Clearly they applied my credit to the after tax total!

If anyone cares, I traded:

Cooking Mama (Wii) - $30
Dead Rising (360) - $30
TH Proj. 8 (360) - $30
F1 Champ. Ed. (PS3) - $30

and already had some credit from previous trades.

I had assumed when I was trading games into Bb that it was the same system as EB. Can anybody help me out? Thanks!

EBGames system is before tax (if you pay with credit, they don't charge taxes).

BBV system is after tax (even if you pay with credit, they charge taxes).

However, BBV gives more TIV for games.

Typically, trading to BBV is better, but depending on the BBV, they have less game selection to pick (to use the credit) ,according to my experience.

So with EB Games, if I have $20.00 credit, and I buy a game with a $19.99 price tag, I should have $0.01 left over on the card?

Exactly.
I have bought some items at EBGames at different locations with store credit and they never charged taxes.

Well I didnt ;pick up the phone and call blockbuster.

I went in person and asked to see their trade promotion binder thingys.

(Im well known at my blockbuster)

Anyway deal starts next monday.

Is 13$ and does include ps2 games.(not sure about cube I know they wanna get rid of cube games)

He said there may be a Do not trade list but if there was it would vary from store to store.

It did not say a Do not trade list applied and there was no * in the ad. So take that as you will.

What about Xbox games?

I could trade all these games in at $13 a pop that wouldn't be too bad. Wonder if completeness matters or not.

ok, so called burnaby, and they said it was on wii 360 and ps3 games, but most games give you more?? what kinda deal is this?

Blockbusters in Winnipeg say it will start tomorrow on the 10th. Might not have their stuff together yet. And yeah, the clerks said it's only on 360/Wii/Ps3 games.

I guess it's $13 minimum? For instance, you won't expect anything for Kameo, but you'll get $13, whereas something else like Gears would net you more than $13 anyways.

For those who may want to know, Splinter Cell Double Agent has a TiV of 15 bucks. I also tried to get rid of my copy of Kameo with "Not for Resale" on the box, and they wouldn't take it. Apparantly M$ doesn't allow retailers to take those games in (or so the people working there said).

I never knew a free game could be so much trouble. Well I suppose I could try playing it....

I'll have to call mine and see if they've heard of it. Probably not though. My store sucks and has probably the worst CS ever.

Both locations in Sherwood Park say it will be only Wii/PS3/XBOX360. What a joke.

What. A. Joke.

Is it time to update the thread title to "NEXT GEN ONLY"?

hmmm... my store has the signs up, and it's for All platforms, PS2, GC and XBX, and it will work on handheld, PSP DS games. BBV HQ havent loaded the $13 value into their computers yet, but the staff told me to come back tommorow, and if it's still not in the system by that time, he'll do a Manual Override. Maybe my BBV store is just that cool.

Which Blockbuter did you go to? Beacause I called the one in Burnaby and he specfically told me the trade in value only applies to Wii, PS3 and X360 games.

Called the 4 stores that are within driving distance from me, they all said PS3, 360 and Wii only so it seems like that is the real deal and XBOX/PS2/GC is seriously YMMV.

Oh well, still a good time to get rid of King Kong that I bought for $9 just to get the 1000 achievement points:D

hmmm.... oh, you guys think I live in Burnaby, WRONG! I live in Poco. There's only one store here, so search it on BBV's site.

I traded in about 10 games to the Cloverdale location yesterday with success (Xbox, NGC, PS2)

Today I took some of my left overs to the Surrey location, and they said that the deal was an error.

I was also informed that you are only allowed to trade 2 of the same game EVER on your account.

Needless to say, Corporate is getting an email about that one.

This one seems dead in the water.

PS3/Wii/X360 games only.
