Remember how they got rid of it from the website, and some thought it would still work, well:

Hello Mike,

Thank you for contacting fye.com.

This is in reference to your email regarding rebate.

We would like to inform you that th item 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas', for PlayStation 2, does not consist of the rebate currently. Please feel free to contact us for any further information.

Thanks for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Sincerely,

id like to know HOW they can do this, since the rebate is valid for another 10 days...i saved the pdf to my pc when i saw something fishy was up, so if anyone needs it let me know.

I don't think FYE knows how to handle prices and rebates on their website. This is the 3rd time in a few months they have had errors. In the spring, they had Mafia for PS2 incorrectly listed at $9.99, in August, they had Donkey Konga incorrectly listed at $31.99 (and they gave a few different lame excuses for that mistake) and now a problem with them honoring rebates?! Even with their new redesigned site, it's clear that they still don't know what they are doing.

Thats HorseS*** I bought the game while the rebate was still on the website... now i have to return it/Cancel the order? anyone know a phone number I can call? Email takes to long especially if I still need to cancel my order.

TGTBT?

Yeah, I'm looking for a phone number too. Somehow two orders got placed for me and I want to cancel one but you have to contact them through e-mail, and they haven't responded to me in over a week. Both my orders still say "processing". I downloaded the rebate form to my PC so luckily I still have that and they better honor it. There is a phone number on that if anyone wants it:

866-809-0898

I don't know if it is for a rebate center or for fye.com. I'm hoping that as long as we still have the form, we should get a rebate. I would not have ordered from them unless they have this rebate. I would have done one of the other numerous online pre-orders that were going on, or the TRU 2 for 1 deal, and gotten it for $33. I'll be pissed if they don't honor the rebate!

Hmm, methinks FYE decided a $20 rebate was too good of a deal and decided to yank the rebate. They took all evidence off the website but now all these people (myself included) had already downloaded the pdf. FYE should probably be pretty careful cause, and I'm not sure, but this may constitute fraud.

That sucks for you guys. I hope it works out for you. I'm bumping this, because I want to find out what other think/know.

So I caled the number... Apparently its "Clear" on the form that you have to buy The combopack AND san andreas in order to get the 20 dollar rebate so if you didn't its not about to be honored... sorry guys. and god-damnit...

I'm not trying to "attack the messenger" but if its soo clear then, why, at the bottom of the rebate form does it refer to UPC as singular?

You guys better just let your credit card companies handle it. FYE's has no case. the rebate clearly refers to one game or the other, not both. You can argue that it even includes an indicator box next to each game (on the rebate form) to be filled in. If this rebate was meant for the purchase of both games, then why have indicator boxes to select which one you purchased. My advice, wait for the game to arrive at your house.......play the shit out of it, call the credit card company and let them know that the vendor is being non-compliant on a rebate agreement and you want to refuse payment. Thats your best bet. Worst case scenario, you will have to pay the discounted price (without waiting for a rebate discount). Best case scenario, you get the game for free. I seriously doubt they wanna start getting attention to these type of BS website cons they have been doing lately. Once you get the credit card company involved they will change their tune.

Hi guys,

There's a discussion going on over at Fatwallet on this offer as well, for those who might be interested in further discussion.

I took advantange of this offer, preordering on the 19th. My order has not yet shipped and I have requested, rather forcefully, that they cancel my order. Hopefully they'll comply, but if they do ship it out, I'm just going to push them until I get the damn $20. big_squirtle is right in that they don't have a case here. Nowhere on the rebate form does it say, even implicitly, that the purchase of both titles is required. On the other hand, right at the top of the form, it says, "$20... Rebate With the purchase of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas". Also, I seem to recall that, on the FYE.com website, the item was listed as $29.99 after rebate. I also recall looking for any further stipulations and finding none.

So I'd go the route that big_squirtle is advocating, and get your credit card company involved, if possible. Here's a bit of related info from fraud.org:

Credit cards are the safest way to pay for online purchases because you can dispute the charges if you never get the goods or if the offer was misrepresented. Federal law limits your liability to $50 if someone makes unauthorized charges to your account, and most credit card issuers will remove them completely if you report the problem promptly. There are new technologies, such as “substitute” credit card numbers and password programs, that can offer extra measures of protection from someone else using your credit card. For more information about paying safely online, go to www.nclnet.org/shoppingonline and www.nclnet.org/essentials/security.html.

Furthermore, I suspect that these people that you guys are talking to on the phone are probably instructed to invent reasons not to pay up and basically mislead the consumer as much as they can. I wouldn't put a lot of stock into what they tell you.

Called again, CSR said that if i call back in two weeks, they may tell me that they will honor the rebate beacuase SOOO many people have called in and complained, and they may not want to deal with it.

My order shipped before FYE responded to me so I'm going to call my credit card company, and see what they can advise me to do.

If anyone cares, they're not honoring the rebate unless you buy both. Screw that....

Anyone know where i can buy gta for cheep?
