March 1, from 11am ET until 2am ET the next day.
Users who are already signed into their account on PlayStation Network before the start of the maintenance will not be able to stay signed in to their online session and will be signed out at the start of the downtime period.

Edit:
UPDATE: This maintenance period has been postponed. We will re-post when the date is rescheduled. PSN’s online gaming and services on Thursday, March 1, will be normal.
^From PS.Blog
PlayStation Network will undergo a significant maintenance period on Sunday, March 4th 2012. Maintenance is expected to start at just after 12:00 PM PST and will last till approximately 2:00 AM PST.
Unlike typical maintenance events, if you are already signed-in to PSN, you will be signed-out and unable to sign back in for the duration of the maintenance window. During this time, you will not be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, Account Management or play online.

So there's no accessing Netflix for approx 15 hours on March 1st? That's gonna suck, unless I'm missing something, but you can't log into Netflix unless your signed into PSN, right?

Just log in on your laptop.

I get kicked out of PSN every now and then while watching Netflix and it has never stopped the movie or kept me from starting a new one.

For me it isn't that they do maintenance but rather that they do it so often for so long and that users see little to no end-result benefits afterwards.

It's even more striking when most modern networks are structured and implemented in a way in which server maintenance is almost completely transparent to the users.

Usually it annoys me when psn is down a whole day since I game online daily but I won't care at all that day since I'm getting new internet service and won't have internet during that time anyway.

???

I don't own a laptop, nor any other portable device that has a netflix app. I could possibly force myself to watch it on the 360, but I deleted the netflix app ages ago on that since it was so bad.

It should prompt you when you launch the Netflix app and when the app fully loads up to the screen where you select your movies. Just deny the prompts by pressing circle. The netflix app does not require PSN since it uses Netflix's servers.

If only all of the game publishers online multiplayer servers were the same, where you didn't need to be signed into PSN to be able to access them. That was the one thing that irked me about the PSN outage a while ago. There should be a workaround in case someone wanted to play their favorite shooter or whatever online with others in the event of another outage.
