I think this is my first post in this sub-forum, this is a definitely a brag and a big LOL!

Today I got an email to my primary RZ account that has been Premiere Silver for like 3 years and good until 2013 (which will soon be 2014 :D) saying my new card was on its way. I was like, 'cool'.

Then after lunch, I check my other email, one I used for a second account with the sole intent to give it to them when I was getting penny guides (R.I.P.) and the wonderful 'free' items we used to get after coupons. I have the exact same email subject and the body is the same format. However, the wording was different, like I was upgraded for free. (I'd post the exact wording, but already deleted it..) I log in for that account, and sure, enough, Silver status for a year with $0 purchases towards the $2500 reached. No transactions in at least 6 months..

I know they usually give people free certs or whatever to entice them, but this is completely crazy, and really doesn't make sense. If I've spent $0, why would they think I'd magically reach $2500 to keep it? OH WELL!!

Same, my account got upgraded (to Premiere) and I only spent about $250 at BestBuy last year. Mostly penny guides and a few video games here and there.

I've been upgraded to Silver for the past two years despite having < $2,500 in purchases. On the other hand, I've never received any free points are certificates as others have reported.

I'm considering not spending $2500 this year, since I really don't want to spend that much just to keep Premier Silver (I don't spend close to $2500 a year at BBY but have a Reward Zone Mastercard on purchases not at BBY that put me over the $2500 minimum, and I'd rather use other credit cards). Knowing my luck with Reward Zone they probably won't upgrade me next year if I don't spend the $2500 though.

I just checked. I have spent $49 this year and I have been upgraded to sliver till feb 2013

Odd. But it will not stay I never spend any where near 2500 in a year at bb

I've been upgraded on both my primary and an alt RZ account and I have never spent $2500 on either one of them. Funny thing is, the primary one just told me I'm upgraded when I signed in to check my points towards a RZ certificate. But the alt one is sending me the upgraded RZ card to use.

Funnier still is that I made enough purchases(somehow) to get a $20 RZ certificate on my primary account. Yet all I've been using is gift card credit for the last year or so.

I'm not complaining.;)

Best Buy is probably handing out silver to entice customers to shop at there stores more. You know to give you that feeling like your a big spender with the silver status. In reality silver doesn't get you much benefits anymore. Only thing I like about it is the 45 day return policy, but since everything is 30 days now, the extra 15 days seems minor.

This happened to my RZ account to last week. No way in hell I spent $2500 there. Nice little upgrade for free though. I'll never say no to a longer period to PM.

Same here. I spent a little over $1100 last year and I haven't even been close in past years. Not sure why they didn't try to get some more mileage out of this by saying they were doing this because we were good customers or something instead of claiming we spent $2500 which all of us know didn't happen.
