US DS Lite coming in May?

The Game Boy SP launched in the spring time as well as the PSP. I think, like someone mentioned, for handhelds this is a good time of the year to launch because of summer travel.

Thanks to Go Nintendo, it's just about confirmed that the DS Lite will launch this June. They were able get hold of a scan that was sent to retailers across Game Crazy. You can now pre-order the DS Lite with a $50 deposit. They have no clue how much it'll go for, but as you can see they'll be going by the import price of $200 until Nintendo tells them otherwise.

and hopefully there won't be a fucking shortage!!! I'm not waiting in another system line.

speculation, speculation... even though it cost me $220, i don't regret importing a DS lite at all.

hopefully, there will be different colors for the US release so the Enamel Blue will be japanese specific and i can still hold on to some l33t-ness after the US launch.

As much as I hate to quote Game Informer, they got a rumor from "a red goomba" that told them the DS Lite will launch in the US the same day as New Super Mario Bros. But again, the only reason I read GI is because of the 10% discount card that comes with it.

Either way, I'm pumped for it, the pearl white is pimp, but the other colors look sweet too, but hopefully we'll an orange or red color too.
 
WelL, Mario is arriving in 2 weeks...Not enough time for pre-orders or anything. Nintendo normally gave a months notice for new hardware (SP, Micro).

I am praying they pull a Saturn and just bring it out anyways on the 15th even though no gamestores will even let you pre-order the dam thing yet.
 
I was listening to the latest episode of the 1Up podcast (not the vodcast) and they said the date but bleeped it because I guess that would be breaking NDA but I think one of them said it would be announced May 4th when the Lite is coming to America. I feel a little stupid now for paying $220 for mine shipped, but oh well. I'll probably buy another one anyway as my girlfriend keeps absconding with mine and my copy of Trauma Center.

Man, wish it were a Live broadcast. This anticipation is ridiculous.

What do you guys think the chances of this happening are? I know its probably slim to none, but out of my sheer ignorance if they were to just have it "show up" I honestly wouldnt mind :lol:. Anyone else feel the same?
 
They've only recently resolved the supply issues in Japan. I can't see them being ready to ship out the units for a US launch just yet.

Not to mention that the whole surprise saturn launch thing didn't exactly work out so well. :lol:

A lot of people figured the same thing when MS put the 360 in Japan when you still couldn't get it here. I guess we'll see...

True, but Nintendo isn't Sega and a DS a quite a bit more affordable than the Saturn was. Not to mention the GBA came out originally around this time of year and it did fine.

My current DS finishes on ebay tomorrow. If the Lite is released post-June, I'll import now. Otherwise, I don't have a problem waiting a month or two.
 
someone on the dvdtalk board posted that this week's 1up.com podcast had somebody mention the release date of the ds lite...they bleeped it out on the podcast then said this info was under NDA...so it seems like nintendo has announced a release date to some gamesites and they have to keep it hush until nintendo says so...the podcast also states that nintendo will announce release date and price for the ds lite on thursday may 4
 
Game Crazy has it in their computers (as of today). It is listed as $199.99, but I doubt it will end up costing that much. You should be able to preorder it at any Game Crazy. We did not get any email saying that you can't preorder it.

I heard a rumor that June 11th is the actual release date. This is just a rumor though. Got my information from another forum.
