Hey I actually have something on topic to say!
I heard a story on NPR (National Public Radio, its usually the lowest fm station or around there all over teh country) today and they had a news story about Basketball and the upcomming Olympics. They had some guy on who was a Senior Editor for Sports Illustrated so this is my source of my "data" .
He was commenting that back in the day, I think the 92 Olympics, w/ Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson on the team everybody thought they were unbeatable. He said that NOBODY would of dreamt of any other country even challenging the USA. Then in 2002 I think we got beat and he said this defeat led the rest of the world to increase thier interest in teh sport and get better teams. Now he said Argentina can give us a run for their money because of their "system." It sounded like this system just used the same coaching philosophies and whatnot all through the junior leagues so that all the best players could get together and automatically have chemistry and cohesion; whereas team USA would not be able to do it to the same extent.
I really dont know much about basketball coaching or schemeing, but it sounds like it makes sense to me. Anyway, my money is still on Team USA in China next year.
