There's one just called PS to USB Converter, I think, I've used it for a couple yeasr and it works well---you can use PS1 or PS2 controllers, and they have it for like 7-10 bucks at radioshack.

I've been using the EMS USB2:
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=23&products_id=1697

It's $14, but it has two controller ports. Since I have dance pads, I can hook both of them up and play doubles with DWI.

The default XP drivers work excellent (you don't need the install disk they give you), and the EMS USB2 supports the analog buttons of the Dual Shock 2 (PS2 controller), if that's what your using. Also, for dance pads, it maps the direction keys to both axes and buttons when it's in digital mode, so it will work with dance pads without having to enter some code (like start+select+up).

It's an excellent "full-featured" converter for more money. But if you just want the cheapest possible, the Radioshack one is a good way to go.

BTW, if you want the EMS USB2, I'd recommend buying it from here:

It's based in the US unlike LikSang, so you'll save money on shipping and get it a lot faster.

Hmm...that EMS USB2 driver is tempting. I'm a little worried about a blurb regarding this adapter at the Stepmania website: " Some users are reporting that the latest version of this adapter does not work when using 2 pads at the same time. This is likely because of the high voltage requirements when using two pads. Beware."

I'm guessing that pads with lots of LED lights are going to be a problem for any USB adapter, however, so this isn't a limitation of any one particular brand/model. *sigh* I should have taken this into account when ordering a dance pad. I didn't care about buttons lighting up when you step on them, but it hadn't occurred to me that this "feature" might actually prove to be a drawback down the road. For those who are interested in playstation-to-USB adapters for the sake of DDR-style games, here is a good reference chart. I'm waffling between that EMS adapter and this adapter, here. Hmm...

Naturally, this isn't an issue for folks who simply want to play pc games or old arcade titles on their computers with a playstation controller. It's not quite the experience that an X-arcade or some such provides, but playing Robotron with analog sticks beats trying to do so on a keyboard.

{say, Spaceloaf...do you customarily use 2 pads with that adapter? ..and if so, do those 2 pads sport LED lights? ..and of course, if yes to both, have you noticed any effects on gameplay?}

I just ordered the EMS 2 hoping it works with my cordless action controller ( I found a few websites claiming it works, so we shall see) when it comes I'll try to remember to post here to let you know if it works well.

The EMS 2 came today, it seems to work quite well, I haven't tested it much but it worked perfectly with my Logitech Cordless Action controller while playing the Pyschnonauts demo. I haven't tested it with anything else though.
