Used Xbox and PS2 Hardware $185.42 shipped(for both) at Estarland.com!!

Is this a good deal or what?
I'm considering getting a backup xbox for DVD player in my bedroom. Instead of spending 50 bucks, spend a little more and be able to play games too.
I'm also worried that I need a backup xbox incase my first one dies, then what am I gonna do with all that software, since not all games are backward compat.
But 187 is a little steep, another hundred and sunthin and I got another 360...

Maybe wait a little and get a backup xbox and ps2 when they are cheaper??
I dunno.. so conflicted..

It's a good deal if you're in the market for both, and you want to buy them from a store with a guarantee rather than an individual.

Are we trusting EStarland again after the Hori controller incident? (orders being delayed, cancelled, claiming they had them in stock when they didn't, etc)

I've used them 4 times and they've been consistently perfect; everything I've ever gotten was in very good condition.

mm07, it sounds like you only need one not both, probably a PS2.

BTW why would anybody want both an Xbox and a PS2 at this point? And even if you do this isn't an awesome deal.

Well, i have a large xbox library, as in a couple hundred games, and I plan on keeping them because I'm a collector..
So if the 360 was fully backwards compatible, then I wouldn't have this dilemma..
But they screwed that up, so I don't really WANT another monster xbox.. but I need to preserve all that software for my collection. And if my current xbox breaks, then I'm beat..

But you're right I don't really want both, and a slim ps2 would be perfect, I'd even buy it new.. but see above issue with lots of xbox software and bad backwards compat...

The ps3 will take care of preserving my ps2 library...

Wait you already have a PS2? Maybe you should just get a DVD player for like $30.

This deal is lame as hell. Maybe if it was $185 for two new systems then that would be another story. I can get both of these systems used for even cheaper. Local shops sell XBox used for $90 and PS2 used for $80 or so.

Why the hell would you need 2 more of the same systems? :whistle2:s

Did anyone else bite on this?
Its been about a week and a half now, and after e-mailing eStarland, not only have they ignored my request for the tracking number I paid for, they passively mention one of the two systems as backordered.

All and all, pretty crummy considering the poor customer service. I don't think I'd recommend anyone ordering from them again.

That, of course, coupled with a cheap PS2 for a friend's birthday, is the only reason I went for this offer.

Used Xboxes are still 100+ in any and all places I can find.

The Hori controller incident was an anomaly. eStarland is the shit. Used products from them are always in awesome condition. They actually take the time to clean systems and shrinkwrap them.

this is a horrible deal, if you need a used system on the cheap eBay is the way to go. I bought a used PS2 off ebay a year ago in mint condition in the box with all accessories plus an extra genuine dual shock 2 and 3 genuine Sony PS2 mem cards for 80 bucks.

That's pretty optimistic of you. I have a PS3 and a good amount of PS2 games- I was planning on moving my PS2 to a second room as soon as I unboxed the PS3, but the PS2 back-compat support is just not there yet on the PS2.

For one, you can't play any games using dual shocks (Nyko seems like they will address this with an accessory soon, but no official support from Sony as yet). This is a problem for Guitar Hero and the DDR games- they are unplayable.

There are also random issues with some games- from purely cosmetic issues to more insidious ones where your game may not be able to progress past a certain point. The fact that you can't transfer saves from your PS3 to a PS2 memory card and continue on a PS2 makes me not want to start any PS2 games on my PS3 in case I end up having to start over on a PS2.

I still have my original PS2 and it's rock solid- there's no way I'd rely solely on a PS3 to preserve playability of my PS2 library given the state of PS3 now.
