Using the DS to help you quit smoking? -> My Stop Smoking Coach?

CAGiversary!
My friend gave me a figure recently. I've been smoking about 6-10 cigarettes a day for 8-9 years. It translates to around 25,000 cigarettes, when averaged, that I've put into my lungs. It's amazing and depressing, all at once, how one day you're just smoking at parties, a cig or three, and next thing you know, it's been a few years and you're (ugh) a smoker.

Which brings me to todays topic/question:

Anyone heard much about Allen Carrs My Stop Smoking Coach for the DS? It's almost New Years resolution time, and I was thinking about giving it a serious shot this year. Now, I bring this title up because when I looked up his bestselling book online the reviews were stellar (400+ 5 star reviews)

The DS is somewhere in the neighborhood, size-wise, as a pack of smokes, and arguably, as addictive (but certainly healthier...) I wonder if this would be a useful tool, providing the comittment on my end holds up.

Anyone interested in this title, or know anything about it?
Quitting smoking is all mental. Just don't smoke anymore. Fight the addiction.
I'm sorry, but that's some fairly useless advice.

I believe that there's something for everyone when it comes to fighting an addiction or changing a lifestyle habit.

For a long time I've been overweight and tried various things to overcome this. When Wii Fit was released, I bought it as soon as I could find it, and that was the motivator I needed to help me exercise, something I'd always been embarrassed to do.

Some people respond to self-help books, but if you haven't found a solution in the past, this My Stop Smoking Coach might be your answer. I've been intending to get this title for my stepmother who also would like to stop smoking.

Now, I just visited Metacritic, and while there are no critic reviews yet, the user reviews are only giving this application a 4.7. I really can't judge how successful a piece of software like this could be, but if you feel it's the trigger you need to control your smoking, I advise you to move with that inclination.

Best Advice I've ever seen regarding quitting smoking:

"The craving lasts for three minutes. Fend off the craving for three minutes and move on."

Use this to ween off and you'll be ok. If you refuse to put any effort into it, then don't bother quitting. This worked amazing for me last time I quit.. however months later I lapsed as I was out at bars nightly and socially smoking until it became habit again. I smoke 5 or so a day now and know I can quit but just enjoy it too much to.

The reviews of the book are otherworldly... just really positive.

A few weeks back, I actually bought the book for my brother and sister for Christmas, both of whom are smokers. $10 seemed like a small gamble if it could help them.

Since the game is based on the book, I would figure it would be worth a flyer...

There are many different methods to quit smoking some are successful some are failures. My dad quit smoking by chewing nicotine gum, then switching to regular gum. It worked for him, but it may not work for you or others.

I reccomend getting this if you want to quit smoking, it can be used as a helpful tool.
