V For Vendetta
I highly doubt you can see a first-run (new release) movie for less than $5. Unless you work at a theater, and then it's free.
My school will get tickets for the big movies to sell to students at $3 a ticket. I saw both Batman Begins and War of the Worlds that way. There's many way to see movies cheap.

I'll be going to see V for Vendetta tomorrow with my roommate. I'm looking forward to the movie.

At first I was intrigued.. then a bit put off.. and now I'm kinda in the mood to see it again. I think I'll probably wait until next week, however.
Amazing....
Go see it.
That's endoresment enough for me (like there was any doubt I'd see it  )

Might not go tonight though, one of my friends is supposed to be going down to Pitsburg KS so I'll probably wait 'til tomorrow so she can come with.

It was pretty good, saw it last night at 10pm.

I think Hugo was a perfect "V", and natalie had an awesome role. Though it was good, it didnt capture the Power of the book, but movies rarely do cause of the time constraints. Which you could feel the movie wanted to be another hour long. (Especially during the Natalie portman in jail sequence).

Either way, worth seeing for $8.50. Go see it.

Portman in the pink ruffled skirt will keep you going for a couple of weeks....
That quote was inaccurate anyway. A transvestite is a man who wants to wear women's clothing while a transexual is a man who wants to be a woman or is in the process of changing into one.
Yeah. THere is a difference.

So far everything I've heard about this movie is that it's a suck fest. The only authority I respect that disagreed with that was Ebert. And while I usually have the same taste in film as him, I didn't find his review very convincing either. He recommends the film, and then he has almost nothing to recommend the film for.

Oh, and just in case people are getting the wrong idea... THIS IS NOT AN ACTION FILM!!! There are maybe 3 action sequences, a couple of explosions, but the rest is story.

^what he said. It's definitely more along the lines of a drama than an action flick. Which I found surprising, in a good way.

MY REVIEW

I caught the movie this morning. I say its a slighty above average flick. The only thing wrong with it is that there was no "Wow" factor. I didnt cheer for the hero like l did in the first Matrix or Batman Begins.

Still, it was a well made movie with some interesting dialog. I recommend you see this for an early show or wait for it for rental. If you are a Bush supporter or a diehard Republican, chances are you will hate this movie because there are a lot of analogies with the current administration.

EDIT: Natalie Portman did an outstanding job in this movie. She definately has her acting chops down.

I just got back from seeing it. I really enjoyed it, well worth the money I spent. I thought that V was a pretty cool character.

I had to leave like 10 minutes before the movie ended. Well, I didn't have to, but I was with a girl and she had to go home, and we were there with a bunch of other friends and they were sitting somewhere else. So, being the gentleman that I am, I walked her to her car. When I got back, the movie had ended and people were walking out.

I thought the movie was fairly good. Can anyone some up the ending for me? My friends kind of gave me a vague summary.

Man, you're not even a good liar. I mean, lie, but make it believeable.

You want us to believe that this chick you were at the movies with "had to get home" couldn't/didn't want to be 10 minutes late?

Also, you want us to believe that you were able to leave, go out to the parking lot and then come back into the theater? I don't know what back woods town you live in, but for 99% of the country, there's no readmitance once you leave.

P.S. If you were a "gentleman" you would have driven her yourself and she wouldn't have had her car there.

Quit, dick.

This movie looks sweet as hell. I definately want to see it. Plus, I've had a crush on Natalie Portman since Star Wars. From the previews though, she doesn't look that good with her shaved head. She can look good when she wants to though.

I'm gonna check that shit out on Sunday at the Imax theater.

Shit, 4 story screen filled with Nat's big ass bald head. I'm down.

She had to be home by 11:00 PM and it was already 11:30 PM, so she had to leave.

There is this thing called a ticket stub, and it says the time on it. You can show them the time the movie started and you can go in. The guy probably knew it was ending soon so he figured what would it matter.

I would've driven her only I got my license just this past week and I don't have a car yet. Not to mention the law around here is you have to wait 12 months to have passengers in your car under the age of 20 and I can't drive between the hours of 11:00 PM - 5:00 AM, but no one ever follows these rules, but I thought I'd just throw it out there for the hell of it.

Saw it on the Imax today, decent flick, nothing too great though. 50 foot tall Natalie made up for any shortcomings.

Why didn't you call your mom and have her drive your friend home?

*rimshot*

Hey, at least he didn't steal her car and wreck it.
Because I was too busy fucking yours?

Im not gonna call u a liar, but ur story is a bit flawed... but when you say something like that, then you are just gay.

I saw this last night. I liked this movie a lot, but almost everyone else in the theater fell asleep. I guess too many people were expecting this to be an action movie.

Some might not like it for its political message and some may think that it draws too many parallels to the current situation here in America...I thought it was fine though.
Hell no... A script (re)written by the Hack bros., directed by a guy who's never been the lead on a motion picture but who's last work was assistant director on the crappy Matrix sequels and Star Wars Episode 2. Also, the thing that really bothers me is Alan Moore running away from it as fast as he can and dissassociating it fro him publicly, when the creator of the comic is doing that to what was supposed to be a "faithful recreation", you know it's probably not. Needless to say if I go to see it in theatres I'll be dragged by some friends and they'll be buying.
Alan Moore is a high maintenance ass bag. He needs to just shut the fuck up some times. My friends saw the movie last nite and said, "MIKE, THIS MOVIE WAS THA MUHfuckIN TRUF!" So..... I'll probably see it soon.

Saw it last night expecting an action flick since it was a comic book movie but V was pretty far from an action flick. The movie was pretty good but I left the theatre with mixed reactions so I might have to catch it again before it leaves theatres.

I give it 2 thumbs up. Of course I liked the political under and overtones, I lived in London for a few months, and I'm familiar with Guy Fawkes. So maybe I'm slightly biased.
Hey, at least he didn't steal her car and wreck it.
Funny thing is, that was the same girl.. but I took the keys, someone else wrecked it.

I pray for the day INS finally deports your ass.
Saw this movie last night, fanfuckingtastic is all I have to say.
Agreed! I LOVED IT!

I saw the movie today and honestly I didnt really like it. I thought the movie was kinda dull there was no point in the movie when I actually cared about what was going on. And this is probably definitly me but I thought the plot was kinda weak Im gonna go check out the comic tommorow hopefully its better.

This movie was absolutely fucking amazing. I came in expecting them to butcher Alan Moore's original work, but instead found that they were actually able to capture the heart of the book. Sure it isn't perfect, but with time contraints and the medium itself, i believe that Alan Moore couldn't (well who knows since he's so particular about his works) have asked for more. There was a review of the movie on IMDB that I have to totally agree with. It's the one that is always on the front page when I go to the board.

My GF (British) was pissed when the movie slipped from its original Nov. 5th release date.

Nov 5th was also when Matrix Revolutions hit theaters a few years ago...coincidence? I think not.

Yeah, the slip was due to the July tube bombings, right?
Yeah, the slip was due to the July tube bombings, right?
AFAIK, it was just production problems...but yeah, it was most likely that.
AFAIK, it was just production problems...but yeah, it was most likely that.
No, as I remember reading it was definitely because of the 6/6 and two weeks after tube bombings in London. They thought it might be insensitive to release it so soon.

I just watched the movie even though I didn't expect to see it after finals were over. It was a good movie, and quite entertaining. Since I like 1984 and Brave New World type of books, I enjoyed this movie quite a lot. I may look into the book when I'm in Borders next time.

My friend made a comment about how when Halloween comes around, tons of people is going to walk around with the Fawkes masks.

Kinda OT:

I was thinking about picking up the graphic novel, is there any reason why I shouldn't go with the paperback(Amazon lists both a paperback and a hardcover)? I used to prefer hardcover but I realized that it wasn't worth the price difference and loss of convenience when reading. Thanks.

No difference other than the cover. I think there's an introduction in the hardcover but I don't know if anyone reads it. I don't.
