Vagrant Story for $10- Was I screwed over?

Stargun007

CAGiversary!
So I was at KB Toys earlier today and out on the clearance table there was Vagrant Story for $9.99. I took it up to the counter, and the guy found a copy in the back, but it rang up as $44.99. The guy there told me to come back later when his manager was in, which I did do, because he said he can't change the price like that.. When I get there (after half an hour of just waiting), I talk to the manager, and he says that there is no way he can change the price. He then takes off the price tag that says $9.99 to reveal another price tag under it, but the part on which the price was on was ripped off. He claims it was therefore tampered by someone and can't lower the price to $10. I asked him a few more times if he could just still lower the price and he said no. What I want to know is whether I had a case for him to lower the price or if the store was right on this one. I just think it's unfair that I wasted half an hour waiting for this guy, and then it seems like he just made up some BS story and says he can't sell me an item for the price it was labled with.

that same guy is at home playing it right now

btw, b4 reading this, i thought you were making fun of me for making a thread about me finding a non gh version for $30 new at fye

o yeah...and it all depends on store policy...i dont know their policy, but i know that you can probably go on there website and write a complaint letter to them (usually there is a contact the store and comment section)....which will result in a general manager or some higher up calling you and kissing your ass...which will usually result in them finding that game for you and giving you it at that price (or at least offering you some other kind of deals)...make sure you stress the fact of how much trouble you went through and how you were very disastisfied and talked to a few ppl and they told you how wrong it was...blah blah blah....ive done this a lot, and recently (when stores pull shit like this)...and ive always gotten my way

I personally work for a Corp eager to make more bucks then they should(TOys R us), my bosses actaully do practice this method because once again its up to their discrecion.

toys r us blows. they're basically compusa but specialize in toys. they're only good for a rare gem or an occasional clearance game, or the b2g1 free.

Toys R us usually has scanners on the floor to check what price a game is in the computers since the price stickers are usually outdated moreso than the computers are there.

I'll run it under the scanner first before I reven remotly make a decision on buying from them to keep from getting my hops up because they only seem to go by the computer and print ads.

Ya, they both suck hard.

HAHAHA! That's a good one! I never thought of them that way!

I would take tc's advice on this one if you feel strongly enough. Just don't expect them to do anything for you and then you will only be pleasantly surprised if they do.

Vagrant Story was $9.99 when KB had their sale earlier this year. They've since raised all the prices back up. The $9.99 sticker was correct at some point. Was it a bright green sticker? I've seen alot of those with the prices markered out at my KB (items that didn't sell when they had the sale, I guess).

The one KB in my area dd the same thing with the stickers. They either ripped the clearance stickers off the games (but you can still see parts on the sticker on the shrinkwrap) or crossed them out.

It wasn't a clearance sticker. It was the regular small little white sticker that they usually put on all of their toys.

EDIT: I did go to their site and sent a complaint. I hope I'll hear from them soon. I'll keep you guys updated.

Well, their regional director did call me, and after waiting a few days, I got another call yesterday saying that they're holding a copy for $10 for me. I went and picked it up today. I am now holding a non-Greatest Hits, completely sealed version of Vagrant Story which I got for $10. Up yours, trustcompany.

Well done. *and a burn for trust to boot!* (no offense trust.)

That's good that they gave it to you. The reason they did is possibly because of something not many people realize... Legally, a store MUST sell a product for the lowest marked price. It doesn't matter if their computer says it's more, or if there's another sticker that says it's more. It has to be for the lowest price, or it's illegal.
