Has anyone had problems with this game stopping and having a red box appear on screen saying "Reading Disc?" So far this has happened twice. Once in the very first boss battle and once just sort of randomly when I was walking around. The game pauses, "Reading Disc" pops up, and then it resumes. I just bought this PS2 used, so I'm a little worried it may have...problems...but maybe not? It makes a lot of noise, which I dont remember my PS2 ever making, but maybe Ive just forgotten. You can always here the disc being read...always. Its like it never stops that sort of "scratchy" sound of the disc being read. It makes the noise most of the time, sometimes its much quiter. Its a SCPH-5001, so I can't clean the laser easily. It could just be me being paranoid though, it might be nothing, and just the game. Thats what I'm here to ask.

OK, so I played the game on a slim PS2 and it sounded fine. Also, the "Reading Disc" message hasn't appeared for a very long time now on either the fat or slim PS2. I'm a bit concerned that my fat PS2 is making so much noise though, its also very annoying. The slim PS2 is not really mine...so...Im "stuck" with the other one. What causes all that noise? Ive heard of laser being out of line and other things, but I'm not sure what this is. I hope I dont need to get it repaired.

p.s. the noise just sounds like the disc constantly trying to load...it just never seems to stop...the game runs fine, for now, but my PS2 acts like its struggling in some way.

EDIT: Its also worth noting here that the console came with a lot of dust on it. The tray had dust on it, the fan still has dust on it, the front vents had dust...etc. Im thinking I might just need to clean the laser. I'm just a little nervous about opening my PS2. How do you guys feel about those laser cleaners, that come as disc, from Best Buy for instance? Good? Bad?

UPDATE: OK, I decided to just open the console up. It had an absurd amount of dust inside. The fan had clumps of dust, there was a layer of dust on and around the tray area. I cleaned it all up, it took me an hour, and swabbed the lens with a q-tip and some alcohol. The system sounds a little better and I think the noise Im hearing now is just normal fat PS2 noises. Im just not used to it I suppose. Now I just need to go inside and clear my head from all the alcohol fumes in my room...

I see. Also, to update this a bit, cleaning it didnt work. Ok, actually, the game hasnt screwed up once since, but the noise that the system makes is very loud. I know it isnt normal. Oh well.
