Vanishings on 7th street

So I take it many have seen this movie by now. I don't get it.
What is this movie even about?
I understand so little about this movie.
Why was there a police horse for them to ride away on the end?
*keep in mind the rental disc was screwed up so I missed any part after they see the horse.*

What was it about Croatoan that made him turn back?
Why did the kid survive?
When they were in the bar and talking about attracting moths why was that important?
Is the darkness like evil incarnate or some sort of punishment from God?
I managed to get some directors commentary working on the disc and it says about the shadows getting tougher and more anthropomorphic later in the movie. That is just not true, when the reporter guy has his first encounter there is definitely some vengeful attitude and even in the movie guys first encounter (legiouzamo).
I mean honestly I got nothing out of this movie. Plz explain this.

crotoan wasnt that some kind of old history thing in north carolina. i may be wrong please if someoone knows better correct me but thats the place where a whole town of people went missing like they all at once vanished and there was a weird word carved into something.

its just a very confusing movie... i mean where did the shadows even come from.. it was an okay movie and love to see them take this idea and run with it from a bigger movie studio..

they never even told if the shadows were good or evil .. it still a nice rental for a 1.00 redbox.. (wouldnt pay more then a buck to see it
