Thanks for the info TSD, hopefully I'll be able to pick up a few of these games cheap.

I'm getting ready to move down to Knoxville at the first of next year, so I'll be able to take advantage of the Target deals/ads then, and the price matching & etc too at the local CC & BB.

Target.com is totally off the map with their ancient out of date pricing that's foresure.......:whistle2:#
 
Do you guys think Brothers in Arms and Heroes of the Pacific will drop to a lower price? BIA EIB is worth $30 but i heard it was very short. Heroes of the Pacific got horrible scores but I really want to own it, cheaper the better.

When the drop happened, for Rainbow Six Lockdown, Brothers in Arms, and the other Ubisoft games, the drop happened for a week or two and then back up to the $49.99 price.

If you're thinking about it, it's not likely to go lower for a while, with all the press it's been getting.

Remember, if you have a GGC available, it's $24.99.

Its not "new", and it was $20 at CC I think when I got it probably over 2 months ago.

Anyone know what the deal at CC is? On there online ad they have a blurb about getting a $10 gift card when you buy a PC game or DVD? *raises eyebrow*... but they it doesn't say what PC games or DVDs it's talking about... and I seriously doubt it could mean ANY... they couldn't be that stupid, could they? It would be sweet if you got one with Ep III... but I'm doubting that :p

I haven't gotten to see the hard copy of the ad yet, so maybe that clarifies things? Anyone?

It is VERY difficult, need to have a very cool cashier and manager.

They will most likely only let you use $3 in BBB to begin with, they have some weird rule about that. But, what happens, is say your games is 29.99. The cashier scans the coupon, and has to manually take off the BBB (let's say you used $3) before totaling.

Your new total is 26.99, they total it all up, what will happen is the GGC will go back, overwrite the manual price change, and take the $5 off of the original MSRP (which in this case is 29.99), and drop it to 24.99, making your BBB void.

They have to manually take off the $5 and the BBB, but most cashiers just flip out and call a manager.

I got Far Cry for $19.95 today... pricematched the ad at CC dropping the price to $27, and had a $10 gift card from my purchase of Civ 4 last week. Too bad I have no xbox though :lol:
 
i used about 13 best buy bucks when i went to get brothers in arms earned n blood. i tried to use the ggc but they wouldnt let me. i also copied the codes and used my best buy bucks again and bought far cry.
 
Excuse this post, as I had no idea where to place it:


I had quite an experience with a Best Buy manager today. I went in and grabbed 6 copies each of BIA EIB and Far Cry. One each for myself, a couple to sell on eBay and the rest for gifts.

I grab 12 GGC's, put $5 each on them, and then head to the register. The girl scans them no problem, and then of course has trouble applying them to the total. So she calls for a manager.

Here comes the manager Shaun Watkins and he sees me, sees the cards and shakes his head. He's the one that said I could only use $3 worth of BB bucks on video games perviously, and that he wouldn't PM the TRU deal. So we've had our run ins.

Here's the conversation in a nutshell:

Him: "We've been throught this before, you're working the system and I can't authorize it. I have the power."
Me: " So I can't buy gift cards?"
Him: "You're only buying them to save money"
Me: "Yeah, that's the idea."
Him: "No it isn't, it's for gifts, not for you."
Me: "So I am buying them for gifts"
Him: "No, I have the power, and I won't allow it. I am the customer service manager, I have the power (turns into He-Man)."
Me: "Fine, I'll just use one."
Him: "No, I am refusing you service, I have the power (I swear he said it again) and I can do that."
Me: "Who is your boss?"
Him: "I am the boss. I make the rules, it has to go through me"
Me: "That's not cool, I am just trying to spend money."
Him: "No, you're trying to work the system, and I won't allow it. If you don't like it call 1-888-Best Buy, it's not my problem."

So I leave and dial the number. After 10 minutes of hold time, I get a customer rep, and explain to him the story. He says he's going to call the store, and he'll be right back.

So another 10 minutes pass and here's our conversation:

BB Rep: "Well I talked to him, and unfortunately he's right, he can refuse service to anyone, and he's done so to you. He said you were scamming the store and working the system, and he feels uncomfortable selling to you."
Me: "So the fact that he basically called me a scammer and pretty much lost any future business doesn't matter?"
BB Rep: "Sorry sir, let me ask my supervisor"

Supervisor comes on the phone.

BB Sup: "I heard the story sir, and unfortunately there is nothing we can do."
Me: "But he insulted me and embarrassed me in front of customers (they were laughing).
BB Sup: "I'm sorry sir, but he is the manager and has the right to refuse service."
Me: "So he could basically say I stink and he doesn't sell to smelly people?"
BB Sup: "Actually that's correct, yes he can, sir"
Me: "So what if I was black or asian, could he say he wouldn't sell to me then?"
BB Sup: "Sir, that has nothing to do with this."
Me: "Who is your boss, I want to speak to him."
BB Sup: "I am the high ranking supervisor here, my deceision is final."
Me: "What is your name?"
BB Sup: "Can I help you with anything else sir?"
Me: "Yes, tell me your name please."
BB Sup: Repeats the question
Me: "Yes you can help me by telling me your name"
BB Sup: "Thank you for calling Best Buy."

hangs up on me

So was I wrong, are they wrong? What can I do? The managers excuse of you're only buying the card for the coupon seems like such BS to me. Does he really have the right to refuse me service because he feels like it? I have never been refused service before, anywhere. Am I the devil customer poster boy or something.
 
The funny thing is, I guarantee I can go to any other Best Buy and have no problems buying the games. Or when the manager isn't there. So it's his hatred towards me, not some lame policy.

Buying the six copies of each game at once were a bit of a neon sign, unfortunately. Had you picked up the gift cards today, and then went back through the rest of the week and picked them up one at a time, you might have managed to get them all.

Secondary option would be to PM them elsewhere and save $2.20 per game instead of the $5.

That was my second idea. CC would do it no problem. I suppose I did bring attention to myself. The problem is, the guy had said before I can no longer use the coupons which is pure BS. He's hiding behind that refusing service thing.

Time to call 888 BESTBUY and raise a stink over it, as well as request communication from the DM or RM that covers that store.

He's being an ass in violating BB policy as he sees fit.

I already did call 1-888-BestBuy and I thought they'd help. I talked to two people who both said the manager was acting fairly, and did have the right to not sell to me. They said the manager told them he feels uncomfortable selling to me. The one supervisor even hung up on me and wouldn't give his name. He said he was the only supervisor there, but another employee told me they have dozens of them.

I talked to another 888 BestBuy rep, and he said he'd forward my info to the DM, not sure if it'd help. The asshat manager has said I have "done this" (used a coupon, yeah I have) in the past, and he's sick of it. The tool was dressed up as Jay of Jay and Silent Bob fame yesterday. His costume was so bad, he had to wear a nametag because people were going "who are you supposed to be?"
 
Best Buy sucks. For me, Gamestop sucks, too -- I called them on Halloween afternoon to ask them if they were selling Battlefront II. They told me they'd be selling it at 9pm, no pre-order needed, just show up. When I get there, they say I can't have one without a pre-order, and they don't believe me when I tell them I spoke with someone on the phone a few hours earlier.

Happy ending: Circuit City had everything this morning, and gave me the $10 credit on the spot on my purchase. Much better!
 
I wonder if that manager would let me even buy 1 game with a coupon. I just got $10 in reward zone certificates, he'd probably bitch about those.

He already told me one time I can't use a coupon and reward zone certifciates at the same time.

That is the stupidist thing ive ever heard. I use RZ certificates and coupons all the time. Im sorry that guy is a arse. Do you have another BB in your area you can go to?

The BB bucks thread wasn't working for me, so I'll post this here:

My BB said that they set a new rule only accepting $3 worth of bucks on CDs, DVD, and Video games. I said that's wrong, but they said well we changed it.

I call it the Shaun Watkins, manager of the year rule.

I can understand the $3 BBB limit on CDs... but for DVDs/videogames that cost over $20, I don't see the problem. It's pretty stupid.

Can we use the BBB to buy GGCs? That would be pretty awesome...:lol:
