Probably not. The new backlit one is called the GBA Micro and its MSRP is $99.99. I'm guessing this deal is just for the regular old SP.

Edit: Oops. I stand corrected. I didn't realize the new pearl blue and black SPs are backlit. Dang. I might have to get me one.

Ubisoft did the same markdown with splinter cell chaos theory at gamestop a month after it came out. They might be doing it for lockdown to try and have more people buy the game to get the word out.

I haven't really played much of the game, but the online mode does seem to be cool, being able to upgrade as you level up.

Its single digits % difference. BB isnt supposed to give ANY discount at all with a PM. Even rebates are invaildated. Youve got to get a very new cashier and cant let a manager get wind of it to succeed.
With gas prices today, its not worth the risk unless you live close to BB IMO

More than likely yes. Just bring the card you want to have as your $5 bonus with you to the front cashier. Show ad (if needed), she'll bang up the keys and give you the card as you wish.
I have far less luck at the electronics or back counters because they tend to have a stack of generic crappy cards to dish out for the promo.
