[Video] CheapyD's Japanese DS Stylus Shootout

No, I was talking about the metal ones.

I've just started playing my DS again (I picked up about four games) and I've never really noticed it before but the standard stylus is really giving me problems, so I want to order one of these quick before I finish them and put the thing away for an unknown amount of time again.

I found this one on PlayAsia- http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-dy-77-3-49-en-15-stylus-70-1m61.html

And this one on Amazon- http://www.amazon.com/Retractable-Stylus-Nintendo-Smooth-Navigation/dp/B000HQGTXE/ref=sr_1_9/104-3606054-1143906?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1180319537&sr=8-9

So which is better?

Edit- Damn that leather(?) case that Hori sells looks nice, but why in the hell doesn't it hold the DS too? I'd buy that in a second if it did. That reminds me, anyone have a really nice looking case they like? Right now I just have it shoved in that PSP sleeve that came in the launch bundle. It works pretty good, and I do enjoy referring to it as 'The Bastard Oreo', but I'd rather have something more pleasing to the eye.

BTW I ordered that one from PlayAsia, it was about $2 cheaper with shipping ($2 is a lot when dealing with pens that don't even write ;) ), I'll let you guys know how good the quality is when it comes.

To anyone who got the Hori Touch Pen (the 3rd in the video), I just got mine and the stylus doesn't seem like it will secure. it keeps shifting in a few centimeters of the hole at the bottom, and it seems like it could be a problem when using it.

Has anyone else had a problem getting the stylus inside it, snug and secure?

It took me a little bit to properly snap the stylus inside the touch pen initially. After that the only problem I ever had was the top and bottom half of the touch pen not secured tightly enough for how I held/used it. In the end I glued it all in though. Doubt many people would want to do that like I did, lol.

I'm actually seriously considering the glue route, myself. I wanted to put the stylus on my shoulderbag, b/c it has pen holders and I don't have a good place to put it otherwise, but unless I can guarantee it's not going to slip apart, I'd raher not.

Either way I'll play with it some more, thanks for the reply.

Draekon, it sounds like the only way to go. Woulda been nice if Cheappy had mentioned the potential problem. But if you glue it in, won't the end of the stylus wear down over time?

Possibly. Though I generally am pretty light with the Stylus on games. Had it for just about a month now and it's been working great since I glued it shortly after getting it. Regarless, I'm able to pull out the actual tip out with my fingernail and replace it with the second stylus' tip that came with it if it does indeed wear down ever. It's pretty much the only part I didn't shove glue on.

I had written a review here about the stylus shortly after I first got it. Probably shouldof posted it in this section rather than the video game reviews section. Oh well.

play-asia has all 3 colors in stock now for anyone who didn't get around to getting one yet. I'm still debating with stylus to go with.

Ultimatallica0, did you get the stylus you ordered yet? If so, how is it?
