CAGiversary!
Is anybody else into video game promo stuff? I'm talking standees, posters, banners, pre-order items, stickers, you name it. I love this kind of junk and have a game room filled with stuff. I've enjoyed the posts about cheap ass deals and stuff, but was curious if anybody else is into the promo stuff as well.

If anybody is, how do you go about scoring your stuff? I just ask the guy behind the counter whenever I go to an EB, GS, TRU, or wherever. Sometimes you score big, most times you don't, though.

I dont have much in the way of promo stuff. A few pre-order bonus and a Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee card board stand up.

I have a few banners, a couple posters, and my cd rack is the counter top holder for the Zelda bonus disks :)

I like to get the junk as well. Mostly the clothes items. I have a couple t shirts and had a smackdown hat I sold at a yard sell. they tend to make good yard sell stuff or ebay it for collectors like your self. I really like when I get a cheepy game from here and it comes with cool stuff! Cheeper game and a t shirt sounds good to me!

Just a few things.. N-Gage playing deck and t-shirt.. True Crime T-Shirt.. Resident Evil 2 T-Shirt.. and.. uhh.. metroid prime sunglasses/visor that's yellow and really ugly.. a few other things.

I'd love to have a room with all kinds of promo stuff, but unfortunately, I don't have the space. Since the stores near me never have anything to give, I make do with the free CDs/booklets they have at the checkout counters and the posters that come in the gaming mags.

i am really into promo stuff. i have this and others

riddick stand up guy
wario ware sticker
pokemon stadium 3-d thingy
kirby extra large gba box
and a few game posters (sword of mana, rise to honor, etc.)

i found some of this stuff on the side of the dumpster at eb games, the day before trash man came. i also found stuff at a kmart closing store. i just asked the worker in the game section if i can have some display stuff

yup, I too like that stuff. I usually try asking the people at the store if I can have it when they are done, but surprisingly, or maybe not so much, there is usually someone else who already reserved it.

My friend has a few cardboard cutouts. Halo, Abe's Odyssey .. a few others. We have a mutual friend who worked at Hollywood video, and the GameCrazy guys would just throw the stuff out.

I may have to hook up for you guys who want it. I can probilly get game displays for my sister in law she is a manager at gamerush! Holla if you want some thing I may be able to swing you somethings!

i have a video game room, it is decorated with posters, figures, calander, I even have neon Nintendo and Playstation 2 signs, its my favorite room in the house!

I've always wanted those neon signs!! I'm a big nintendo fan, so that's the one i've wanted. Right now I have a mario sunshine cardboard poster, a plastic playstation 2 sign (about 3.5 feet long), kingdom hearts and FF posters, ninja gaiden banner, metroid prime and mgs2 posters, KH figures, FF figures, FF coke figures, mario and starfox bobbleheads, vivi doll, a bunch of star wars figures, a bunch of empty oversized promo boxes. As for standees, i have:

BoF: Dragon Quarter
SW: Rebel Strike
Mario Sunshine
Devil May Cry 2
Spiderman 2
Soul Calibur 2 (trianble standee)

Of all the stuff I have, my mario bobble head is my favorite. He's holding a gamecube. It's pretty cool. My latest score was the resident evil outbreak promo cantine, got it when i pre-ordered halo 2 oddly enough.

Aside from eBay, what are some good ways to get videogame promo stuff on the cheap? Are local EB Games willing to give away promo stuff they don't need anymore?

They might give away stuff. It helps if you know someone that works there.

If you want stuff from stores, just ask. That's what I've learned. You'll get stuff every once in a while. I ask when i go to gamestop, eb, game rush, toys r us, media play, fye, and meijer. if there is a particular store you always go to, get to know the people who work there. After a while, they'll hook you up.

Every now and then, though, I resort to ebay. especially around e3 time. the most expensive thing i ever got (promo stuff wise) was the mario sunshine standee for $50. i know, its a lot, but i love that thing.

just today i got a star ocean 3 poster, just asked for it. it's pretty cool, too. it's gonna replace my mgs2 poster!

I have a bunch of game promo stuff. I don't have so many standees anymore, though, don't really have the room for them. :p

I currently have:
Pikmin 2 mini standee
Sonic Heroes mini standee
Sonic Heroes large standee (disassembled, character pieces hung on wall)
Final Fantasy VII/Pepsi Cloud mini standee

And a bunch of other random stuff. Dozens of shirts, stickers, posters, etc.

Best way to get the stuff? Work somewhere that sells games. Employees usually get first dibs on things. :p

I just noticed this really kick ass Wario Ware door sticker at my local Hollywood Video. I asked them where they got it and was told that corporate thought, for some reason, they were a Game Crazy, which they are not. I plan on asking for it the next time I go back.

I got a few standees

-ninja gaiden
-mario golf
-doom 3
-city of heroes
-legacy of kain defiance

The only large standee that i have is the big Perfect Dark one with the real life Joanna Dark model. I have alot of small thing things like Donkey Kong 64 banana pens, banana stress reliever, Sega Saturn bouncy balll, and all kinds of things. I have some Dreamcast display boxes that haven't been folded and a giant plastic Game Boy Pocket. Im not even sure what i have any more but im selling tons of things so i might uncover some things.

I only have 1 promo item, well 2 if ya count a credit card sized Halo 2 sticker. I bought a game at Target the other week and the cashier said they had the sticker and a post-it pad with the Fable dude. He asked if I wanted them since they're supposedly not allowed to have things like that. Then he said he just gave away the last Xbox cap or else he would've given it to me too. Darn. The one thing I've wanted for the longest time is one of those huge paper box displays that EB and GameStop have...

Yeah, a Microsoft rep stopped in the store I work at last week and dropped a bunch of those off. We just give 'em to customers. I kept a few Fable Post-it pads for myself (we got a friggin' ton of them). Sticky notes rock.

I used to have a PSOne system/controller display piece, and I have a large magnetic Ico poster that's on my refridgerator, a DOA2 Hardcore poster, and a Conker's Bad Fur Day and Dreamcast t-shirt. Nothing particularly good, but if I had good stuff, I wouldn't have any place to put it.

Yeah I have the Zelda bonus disk sealed along with a I-ninja and Sphynx Shirts. Also those FF:CC pins that were all over like at CC and such. I have one of each tribe put up.

A couple of sealed preview disks and the 2003 and 2004 preview books for Nintendo. Other than that I dont have much...

I'm pissed that I wasn't able to score a Link bobblehead from one of the stores when Wind Waker came out. I don't feel like getting one off of ebay, tho.

i remember i got a midnight club II hang up from a magazine thats about it.. im not sure if it was outta a girlie girl magazine or some other mag

Howdy, all--

Does anyone happen to have one of the Rebel Strike III (3-D 'stomping' At-At)standee displays that they'd be willing to part with (for, perhaps, a reasonable-to-hefty sum) ?

I had mine on display at the bookstore where I work. Being as it was a solid cardboard display that doesn't roll up, or even fold-up very easily, and over 4 feet tall, we had to keep it on top of one our high shelves (nearly touching the ceiling). It was well out of customer reach, and looked pretty damn awesome over the software section.

Of course, a lot of people would ask if it was for sale ("No!"). Well, as it turns out, someone asked about it this past Sunday night, and of course were told it wasn't for sale. So, sometime between 7:30 and the store closing, they actually STOLE it right off the wall. :bomb: We have no idea who did it, and don't expect to ever see it again.

It was pretty much our store mascot by now, and I'd like to find another one to replace it with. Anyone have any ideas? Doesn't seem to be any available on ebay, although I'll keep watching there.

Thanks in advance for any hints/help/ideas.

I have some stuff, but I mostly look for Kingdom Hearts stuff and if anyone has any, please PM ME!! sorry, had to say it.

Hy boys and gals,
Ive got loads of display cubes ,posters and other junk, but i just cant get enough, Ive got lots in my spare room, its got 2 pc's 4 retro consoles, loads of posters , figures, display products, Ive also got a shop on ebay that sells it all off.

My question is where do i get the stuff from. Ive only got one shop and its gettin abit stale.. ive got most of there stock now so any ideas would be great. Ive done all the major stores and they all say im not allowed it as its company property.

I have too much to list. Mostly Tom Clancy stuff.

Some highlights are a Halo ODST Standee, a Ghost Recon: Island Thunder standee, and a Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory standee.

I also have a ton of posters.

I don't want any piece of shit or point of sale themed stuff. :p

Hello ancient thread. I don't have a single game store in town, so I can't really get any stand ins or anything. I get most of my stuff from contests. I have a Little Sister figurine from Bioshock, some Tatsunoko vs Capcom keychains, an Okami Buddha board, a King of the Cosmos lenticular card, and a noby noby/katamari mini lunchbox

As someone who used to work for a retailer, I was more than happy to give away promo goodies (marketing items) so long as they came within a reasonable amount of time of it being taken down. So, just ask! It's hard to fit standees into dumpsters, so I'm sure some people are happy to let you take it off their hands (so long as another employee hasn't already claimed it for themselves)!

When I picked up my copy of SSBB, the gamestop gave me their display oversived box of the game. Got it hanging in my room. I've also got a "life size" Master Chief cardboard cutout (used as a gamefuel advertisement). Got that baby for 15 bucks shipped from ebay.

I have a Horse Pinata from the original Viva Pinata for X-Box 360, and a bunch of original NES posters that came with the games back when they were released. From my years working at the movie theater however, I have a ton of posters and other promotion stuff.

Wow, this thread got raised from the dead.
Anyway, I actually got a decent score of video game posters today. Got all of them from Gamestop.
Pokemon G&S:
[IMG-C=6188]12883[/IMG-C]
Everquest 2:
[IMG-C=6188]12886[/IMG-C]
Alien Vs. Predator:
[IMG-C=6188]12887[/IMG-C]
Battlefield Bad Company 2:
[IMG-C=6188]12885[/IMG-C]
Final Fantasy XIII:
[IMG-C=6188]12884[/IMG-C]
If anybody is interested in buying/trading for them feel free to pm me. I'll be keeping the FFXIII poster though, so don't even bother with that one. :D

Working at a Gamestop makes this a very easy bad habit to get overwhelmed with. My trunk is full of so many random bonuses. I think the oddest one has to be a trophy that was supposed to go to the SSMB tournament that never happened at my store. I think I might be one of the few people who actually pays attention to the promo stuff, either to keep for my own pack rat tendencies or to give away to customers that I know will get a kick out of them.

I have tons of store displays from my days at Game Crazy. A lot of the displays have never been constructed. (FF 11, Mario Kart DD and some Zelda stuff). However, i had to get rid of some to make room for my arcade cabinets.
