Video Games Live is AMAZING!!!
Already got my tickets for the Houston show. Can't wait.
Strell.... a Texan...?
Strell.... a Texan...?
I will drive over there and kick your ass. Complete with...um.

Yeah.

Orlando is listed as TBA coming soon, been checking that website since VGL started...unfortunately the tour dates are already up to a year from now so I still won't see it anytime soon.

fuck, tickets are sold out where I live.

I wanted to go last year, but then they canceled the whole show. I guess I'll wait until next year.

saw the one that came out here in Northern VA back in august of last year. It was pretty cool. The crowd really goes extremely nuts over this shit.
not coming to my state
Apparently they are adding more cities and dates as they go, so I'm hoping Cleveland shows up there at some point... worst case, I'll look into Chicago in October.

Sounds pretty neat. They come to DC in June. At the Kennedy Center which I figured meant the tickets would not be all that cheap as mentioned. But the KC says $20-45 which is actually pretty cheap for the Kennedy Center. Not on sale yet for DC.

Nice. I was hoping that the Final Fantasy Dear Friends concert would be like that, showing images from the games while they played the music. They advertised that they would, and there was a screen, but they only showed images from one game for aobut 10 seconds during one song, which was a huge letdown (though of course the music was awesome).

I'll probably be going to the Play! Symphony when they make their way out to San Jose next month. They're probably covering the same stuff, but they were the same people who did the Final Fantasy Dear Friends concert a while back. Plus, they're covering some of that music along with tons of other game music.

bummer, the one i went to showed all sorts of images and cgi clips during the concert.

i kinda want to see VGL but ive concvinced myself it wont be as good as dear friends, so we'll see.....

HOLY SHIT!! I think I paid 35 or so for the tickets at the Wolf Trap one. Defenitily bringing my gf to this one. Thanks Wubb!

This is coming to MY fucking COLLEGE in a few weeks. Literally a 5 minute walk from my dorm. Just found this out today. I'm so excited. I'm probably gonna splurge and get the expensive ticket.

Just picked up my tickets for the DC show today. (They just went on sale.) Pretty excited about it!

Was it in the Filene Center at Wolf Trap (the large pavilion with tons of lawn seating in the back.) Wish I had known about that. I love picking up cheap lawn tickets and then getting there early enough to score a decent spot. Usually just have a picnic dinner while we wait for the show to start. Of course, if it rains you're fucked.

Thanks for the update Wubb, I'm buying mine tonight :) Anyways yes it was at the Filene Center at WT. Honestly after having been there two times, I wouldn't do the lawn seats. From what I have seen, it just feels to crowded and looks uncomfortable. :( Anyways yea if it rains, your fucked :)

I was actually considering going to that show, but the tickets are $35-$65 plus a $2.50 handling fee for each ticket. Yeah, that ain't happening.

Bump. Anyone else actually see this? (this thread is mostly people looking forward to going...). This show is in Dallas next week and I'm thinking about going.

My GF and I will be hitting up the one in Washington DC at the end of the month. As a special bonus, it's the day after my birthday! *cheer*

holy shit , me and my gf are going to the one on the 30th in DC too. I wounder if we should dress nice or normally since the last video game live concert I went to I felt strange wearing a suit while everyone around me had t-shirts or costumes. :|

Bleh I wanted to go to this pretty badly, but no one will ever go with me. And it doesn't look like they'll be in the area anytime soon.

I'll be at that one as well. It's at The Kennedy Center so I'll probably wear something at least somewhat presentable. Probably slacks and a decent shirt. But yeah, people being in costumes wouldn't surprise me. :)

Well, I didn't go to this one, but I went to see Play! A Video Game Symphony which is pretty similar. In fact the promoter mentioned to us that they were direct competition. It was pretty cool and if you want to read more about it you can read my post (which should make it to the main page in article form except the webmaster went on vacation) here: DreamStation.cc it's towards the bottom in quotes. You can also get a small sampling of what it will probably look like in the video in the first post and the pictures from my visit to the rehearsal. Press access for the win!

i wonder what are the chances of bringing my camera
kodak_z7590.gif

into this show? I am sure I can get some descent shots in low light :| I've seen some people bring in smaller, thinner cameras and using them before the start of the show. I still have no idea what the fuck are they going to be playing that night, but I know everyone is gonna go nuts when the Mario and Zelda themes come up......and even more nuts when the FF music hits...even though FF music sucks ass.
Ive got tickets to the DC show also. Plenty of DC area CAGs, eh?
yea but you won't see me dressed up in a video game character outfit. come on it's the Kennedy Center.. you gotta dress in a suit or a dress.

you DC CAGs should all sit together and wear matching green t-shirts and hold hands and sing.....for advertising purposes of course.

can do that, seats are assigned :(

it would have been nice to meet fellow cags and wubb but oh well...just have a great time and talk about the next nite. I want some castlevania, resident evil and silent hill music.
Meet at intermission somewhere.
yea in the bathroom.............where I gotta pee........

Same here. I was gonna go with my friend. Had our tickets paid for and everything, then it got cancelled.

San Diego is still TBA. I really wanna go still.

Yeah, I was able to get tickets for the DC one as well. Got a question, though. I read that there are events going on before the concert, like Guitar Hero tournaments and stuff. Does anyone know how long before the concert do these activities begin? I can't seem to find that info anywhere on their site.

ok I went to last night's VGL at the Kennedy Center in DC.

To be honest, I think PLAY! at Wolf Trap last summer was better then this!

The host made this stupid excuse that they couldn't show footage from Kingdom Hearts so we got footage from disney movies instead. They showed old ww2 footage (not any ww2 type game related)

this is what I remembered from the top of my head

pong
donkey kong
Tron
Zelda
World of Warcraft
Civilization 4 (the creator made an appearance to announce the game was coming to next gen platforms.. ok.....................)
some asian guy who is popular on the internet for playing all sorts of video game songs on his piano and he played some FF tune that lasted like almost 10 minutes :O
God of war
music from FF7 (meh)
advent rising
Mario
and of course.. HALO :|
in the end they had some music from the upcoming halo 3.

They had some stupid contests. The first was a dress up contests.. some looked like from FF (go figure), a guy with a crab head (from half life) and a guy fully dressed up as Link. Apparently some idiot told his what appeared to be his 5 year old daughter to dress up like Princess Liea from Star Wars:ANH. Of course Link won and he got some stuff from gonintendo.com like a Wii and a few other things.

Then they had this 10 year old girl apparently play space invaders on screen and she sucked so bad. Apparently she was suppose to move left and right and push the buttons but she barely moved from her spot. what did they give her? A new DS and a copy of Space invaders!!! wtf!?!?!?

And finally the last contest was between these two guys over FROGGER. Both of them sucked ass. The first guy did ok, then the second guy was just plain stupid. The winner (the first guy) got a 2500$ amd64 laptop (which he will probably sell on ebay soon for double that amount) and the looser got some stuff like a copy of frogger plug and play.

Overall it was an ok experience. Play! Was a lot better then this as they had better footage and the music was played better.

For those who went (Wubb), my gf and I were sitting the second row on the front right of the theater. Where was everyone else?

ITD, I was in your row. How close were you to the GoNintendo guys? Rawmeat Cowboy was in the seat directly behind me.

Looks like I liked it more than you did. Only thing I really disliked was how Tommy Talarico(sp?) was acting. He kinda looked like he wanted more spotlight. The GoNintendo people were really loud also. One of the women kept screaming in my ear. The music was wonderful, except there was some sort of slowdown at the beginning of One Winged Angel.

Yeah, I hate Tommy Tallarico's personality. The guy is so fucking annyoing. I hated him on Electric Playground too. He gave Nintendo titles such low fucking scores seemingly just because he able to.
At any rate, the Phoenix show was fun (My friend even got called to stage to play the Space Invaders game. He said it's incredibly difficult and unresponsive)
