I know it's playing this Sat. on TPT Life in Mpls. on Sat.

It's probably playing on every other PBS station this weekend too.

No, I don't have a link.

Nope, it's a taping of one of the live video game concerts that played music from various games with a full orchestra.

I can't link it, but here's the description:
program / series description:
Music from popular video games is performed by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, a 34-voice chorus and a rock band, led by video-game composer Tommy Tallarico, who also hosts. Included: "Super Mario Bros."; "The Legend of Zelda"; "Sonic the Hedgehog"; "World of Warcraft"; "StarCraft II"; "Halo"; "Final Fantasy"; "Chrono Cross"; "Castlevania"; "God of War"; "Civilization IV"; and "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith." From the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.
I guess it's a regional thing. It airs on 2-3 TPT Life in Mpls. on Sat. at 8pm. I know I can't get TPT Life on satellite, only over the air.

Edit: Here's a trailer:

It is starting this weekend and will be rolled out over the month of August to different PBS stations. Its a topic about this on here that had that video in it but I cannot remember where it is.

I looked it up for my local PBS station and they aren't showing it until August 11th at 9:30 pm so I will be setting my DVR to record it.

Tommy Tallarico is a cool dude, ive met him a couple of times.

Sadly, Ive only seen video games live once at the hollywood bowl, about 3 years ago. It was a great experience.

I'll be checking my DTV schedule to see when it airs. Hopefully it's in HD!

So you can see the nose hairs on the violinist?

Sorry, the only viewing that HD should be for are explosion pictures.

Seriously, what kina asinine response is this?

I guess HD broadcasting has not hit Rural Suburbia, Minnesota. :D

I saw it once live and it was pretty awesome. That Tommy Tallarico guy thought he was a rock star though, made it a little lamer.

Tallarico is a condescending douchebag, and always seems to insert the phrase "not just bleeps and boops anymore" into every single interview he gives, as if video game soundtracks have just now become worth listening to. In the past, he's also railed on video games that use any sort of synth in their soundtracks.

Still, this is sort of a cool thing to have running on PBS, Tallarico's ginormous ego aside.

Um, yeah I also like how he's saying that getting orchestras to play video game music is a new thing too.

Yeah. the Japanese have been doing it for years.

Hard as hell to come across legitimately, but if you can obtain them I really suggest these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orchestral_Game_Music_Concerts

A bit of a tangent.. but I figure anyone who is interested in listening to game music on PBS would also be interested in this.
@BattleChicken: Wow, those concerts seem amazing! What a bunch of setlists!
I'm listening to them on my MP3 player right now actually.. the recording quality is nothing short of fantastic.. I strongly suggest obtaining them.

Agreed awesome setlist.

Probably impossible to find and/or expensive to those of us who don't believe in DLing things.
This will be better than Star Wars: In Concert! ;)
I actually just saw Star Wars Live and it was pretty fucking amazing! Thanks for the reminder and that link, I heard PBS was going to play this and completely forgot about it.

I'd like to see this on TV, but I simply can't find an air date for this in my area. PBS should really have a page dedicated to the show and an easy way to see when it's airing in your area.

WV PBS isn't showing this as of now... I'm gonna try and drum up some e-mail support.. if the station even has email. I sometimes hate this place.... I can't even pay my Water bill via debit card.

The time/date on my tv and the time/date on the website don't match up.....

Play: A Video Games Concert was better than what I've heard of this. Granted I saw Play live and I've only heard the cd for this. Video game music is awesome either way. It makes up the majority of my music collection along with trailer music.

I liked Tallirico when he was doing the show Judgement Day with that other guy on G4. That was a very well made show.
