[Video] PS3 Store Downloads: Fast in Japan - 586MB in less than 2 minutes

So that's why my downloads are so slow...Sony's servers are apparently housed in Cheapy's apartment building.
 
Last night it took almost 3 hours to download Tekken DR. 500+ MB
as a frame of reference i just downloaded the 1up show (400+MB) in under 7 minutes.

While I'm here, I downloaded the ~8MB Warhawk 1.1 patch in seconds, while stuff directly from the PS Store still crawls along. Whaaaat is the deal with thaaaat?
 
Hey cheapy... now video yourself downloading that same demo from the Xbox live store online... lets see which one is faster. Or did the Major make you promise not to spew negative xbox 360 news in return for doing your interview. lol
 
Well, Japan is a lot more advanced as far as internet goes. You can get a 100Mb/s connection for less than $40 a month, compared to most major companies in the us that sell a 7-15Mb/s connection for $40 a month.

I usually get 8Mb/s when downloading from the PSN. I've got a 25/5 Fios connection.

Well I'm not doubting the download time, but..

how come cheapy D's PS3 didn't allow the [Perform in Background] option, which to me suggests that this video is of a PS3 with an older firmware.


Ohhhhh... I see, he made that video 8 months ago. lol Damn Cheapy can you do a new video. 360 vs ps3.

2. How fast are the Xbox Live downloads in Japan?

The speed is mostly due to the proximity of Sony's servers, but a small bit of it also has to do with the absolute shit quality of internet in the United States compared to most civilized countries. If you showed how fast XBLM downloads went, we could see how much is due to the proximity of the servers, and how much is due to your fast connection there just outside Tokyo.

As a general rule, Japan's internet as a whole is fast. In fact IIRC, it's 17x faster than the US (or something like that; I don't care enough to get the actual figures).
