Viewing pictures from your digital camera on your 360

I hook my digital camera up to the USB port on the 360, have the camera on and go to the media section where you can view pictures on an attached digital camera and nothing. The 360 acted like nothing was connected. Tried connecting the camera and having it on while starting the 360 also and no luck. Should it just recognize it or do I need to do something special?
I haven't had any problems with my 360 and just figured I must be doing something wrong but it seems like it should be pretty simple. Any advice?

or you can just get a USB to what ever memcard adapter and plug the memory card directly into the usb port

Yeah I have a USB portable drive that works. But I was wondering why my camera won't get recognized.

i have a sony cybershot, and mine reconized the camera and the pictures poped up and are huge lol

thats weird, my connon camera gets recognized with my 360.....odd

Did you have your 360 on, then attach your camera and power it up? I tried it that way, tried having the camera plugged in and on and firing up the 360, and several other ways and no luck. Hmmm.
