A newbie and the wrong forum! Joy!

There is no virtual reality. Its just Red/Black lines that mimic a 3D. Its crap.

I don't know - I think the 3D tech is really impressive in that machine, even today. I love my Virtual Boy, even though I know I'm very much in the minority. It's too bad the number of good games for it can be counted on one hand.

actually no other system besides the virtual boy is as 3d, meaning you can see objects on the side of your eyes/face coming in and out fo screen/etc. heck wario land for the virtual boy is widely regarded as the best warioland out there, and even playing it with an emulator feels alot more 3d (with no 3d glasse sor anything) than any other warioland or 2d game for other systems. You can zoom in and out of the abckground, etc.

and I know about ebay its just that it seems expensive there compared to what it used to be in your local toys r us or blockbuster just a few years back.

The ever-expanding and always dynamic video game universe has no choice but to slowly move towards its ultimate goal of Virtual Reality. While I think we are years away from RCA jacks sticking out of our spinal cords, the natural progression of gaming is to acclimate us first by introducing 3-dimensional gaming. The V.B. was met with resistance by an obstinate public that was not ready for Nintendo's innovation. It has only delayed the inevitable. We will see some advancement in 3D gaming before we can move on.

Or it could be the fact that it weighed about 10 lbs, wasn't portable at all, required you to sit it on a table and play it, gave some people headaches and motion sickness, had like 2 decent games, and last but not least only displayed several different shades of red.

VBs are $20-$30 on ebay. Cheaper then what they were at BB and TRU back in the day. Do you want one for $5?

The VB started 3-D gaming, and I think Nintendo was wrong for stopping production. I remember playing telero boxer and the punches were coming straight toward your face. Another awesome game in the works was zero racers which is like an f zero sequel that never saw the lgiht of day but was almsot completed.

I chalk it's demise up to the fact that Sony got it's first confirmed kill off the VB, in that system war....next would be the 3do/cdi/jaguar than the Saturn. didnt help that nintendo 64 was the main focus as well. Plus, people knew already what they would be getting with the TV-based consoles. The Virtual Boy's success was much less predictable since the system scaled a dimension of gaming that has not been attempted in that way before or since (and by that I mean a dedicated 3D stereovision game console).

yes. yes i do.

I saw yesturday on ebay a virtual boy headpiece for like 30 but the complete package with the controller was like 50. back in the day in blockbuster after it died you could egt one for like 20-30.

You could get a dirty used one for $30. They normally go for $20-$30 for a used VB on ebay with Mario Tennis. Try looking. Wrong forum STILL.

Dude, this is like asking where you can get a deal on an NES... Where do you think? It's a very old system. Ebay, yard sales, pawn shops, etc. If you want one from someone here, then go to the Trading forum. But I don't see why they would sell you one complete for $10 when they could sell it to someone else on Ebay for $50. If you want retro goods, be prepared to pay market price for it on the internet.

Check my trade list.....
I am a bit cheaper than ebay for the reasons stated.

I am taking off on Wednesday so our deal would need to be completed before or AFTER I get back.

I still have mine! It's a fun system. I even had it in mint condition and with the box. >.> I bet, it would go for alot if I ever sold it. heh but ya, you should just buy one off E-bay because your not going to find a low price unless your lucky or if it doesn't work at all. lol

I said if he took one more step I'm gonna kick this Virtual Boy out da window!

I used to get the worst headaches from that damned thing.. I'd have to lay down for a couple of hours after playing it.

Trying to use it as a "portable" would likely have led to neck and back spasms from bending over. I'm kind of curious as to how many units sold, I'll have to Google that after my test tonight.

I'm sure with a few flea market/yard sale hunts, one will turn up. I can't think of any major game retailers that sell them used off the top of my head.

I also love mine. Out of all my game collection it gets alot of notice since so many people didn't get to own one.

I think I paid like 40 bucks shipped for mine a few years back off ebay. But mine came with an AC adapter. Get one of those so you don't have to waist your time with batteries.

I think on the box it actually said that if you are under 7, it can cause permanent eye damage.

"
The final problem was the issue relating to eye strain. Complaints early on regarding players getting headaches from the system forced Nintendo to place various warnings that said:

"This product MUST NOT be used by children under the age of (7) years. Artificial stereo vision displays may not be safe for children and may cause serious, permanent damage to their vision."
